Oh Damn, hope you feel better, chicken noodle soup bro, guaranteed to fix you up.

Okay I didn't know that MMJVAPE was you on Reddit. Alright cool, so I know this is all legit! Like your videos man, keep up the good work informative and funny.

I got my Alternate on Monday, had the robot fart smell out of the box but I noticed smell was coming from glue that kept the packing foam together. My unit itself did not really smell. I separated the cooling unit form the base and left them out on the counter since Monday night. This morning no smell in unit and a slight smell in the cooling unit mouthpiece. I took the cooling unit apart to further "air out". If it still smells then I am going to wash in some warm soapy water.

@ohmygodimsohigh on the new cooling units you beta tested, you mentioned there were no issues? Also could you tell if they were made with a different plastic? It would be nice if @Vivant made the second generation cooling units with a different colored mouthpiece (stem) everyone would know it was from the new batch.

Thank you. I'm all good now :)
The units I tested are definitely made of new materials, each one was actually a different material as well.

Glad your unit doesn't have any robot fart.

I would keep it under 400F until new mouthpieces are available.

I received my replacement mouth pieces yesterday. They look exactly the same except have the number 2 on the underside of the cooling unit. My original cooling unit has the number 1.

Was there any included communication from Vivant e.g., note/letter apologizing for the inconvenience and/or explaining how the "new" replacement MP's are different than the OG's?

TIA

FF

That being said... its concerning with the lack of response from @Vivant on the progress on the fix... etc

I ordered the 420 deal also... and also ordered a crafty CU from a Canadian supplier.... Seems like the mod isn't very difficult and if the result is a great performing vape..... then Im pretty happy :)

I'm concerned about the lack of response too. I bought this vape thinking it was a very well supported one. I mistakenly thought the mouthpiece problem was already resolved. On my first use I was flabbergasted at how hot it was getting and I actually haven't used it since then, while I wait for some sign from @Vivant on what the plan is going to be, or if they'd like to send a shipping label for a return instead.

I'm leery about spending 1/4 the cost of the Vivant on a Crafty mouthpiece to solve a problem that shouldn't exist.

How has this vape been getting good reviews in the state it's in currently? The mouthpieces are melting from excess heat. I have a Boundless CFX powered by the 18650 also and it barely gets hot outside, where the Vivant is fry-eggs burning hot. I cant believe this is normal..

Just personal experience on this, not wanting to be a downer here. I also got a new replacement cap from PIU about a week after the first had melted. The original cap had a 1. The replacement cap I was sent had a 2 stamped on it. Both melted. Not sure how to post a pic, not really sure if it is necessary at this point. Anyway, just noticed the number stamps on the CU's because you had mentioned it. Still keeping my fingers crossed though...

Thanks, I should have shared the same info here. I've been crazy sick the last few weeks :(

Thanks for the update. Did the new top caps get very hot? I understand they didn't melt or crack. But I'm also interested to know how hot they're getting during normal usage. The original top cap does get hotter than ideal during normal usage.

Expect a new CU from Vivant in about 2 weeks.

They asked for some tests to be done and I assume they have decided what plastic to use.

I know it's been a long wait and it has be awfully quiet.... but these things do take time.

btw... I've been using mine at about 385 and it does get a bit warm after 2... 3min sessions.... but i tried to push my nail on the inside ring... and its been solid.... no melting

May we ask, please, upon what communication and/or relationship with Vivant you base this information on?

I got a response from Emily on FB.... and that is what I took from our conversation.....I may have overstepped on posting this here... and im sorry @Vivant... but I just wanted to ease the concerns

Thanks for sharing and wouldn't say you've "overstepped" at all.

If anything, it is @Vivant "Emily" that has "understepped" by NOT posting a detailed update here!

Thanks but I don't think Emily can officially say anything right now about the progress.

But to me it sounded like something soon will come out

Really!? It would seem to me, and no doubt many others here, that if Vivant has made any progress at all they would want to shout it from the rooftops here at FC.

Bearing in mind that they've given prototype test CU's to people to see if they hold up in everyday use. If they had issues with the new mouthpiece after sending them out to everyone they would be crucified on this forum. Keeping things under wraps until they are certain the issues are ironed out before doing a full production run is a prudent and pragmatic move.

Same here. The top cap gets hot above and around the chamber but I haven't seen the slightest hint of cracking or melting.

Well, to your point above: One then, it would seem, conclude that after all this time , nearly seven weeks, that the paying customers have not any significant progress made on THEIR behalf. No closer to an acceptable resolution to their problem. That won't sit well with customers for long either!

Surely Vivant doesn't think that their paying customers are obligated to wait for a "fix" indefinitely?

I'd advise Vivant to give their customers all the details of where things stand. Withholding information can devolve to being perceived as deceit, all too quickly.

Think long term !

Think repeat customers, @Vivant !

Communications (email) between myself and @Vivant have some kind of non-disclosure agreement at the end, so I can understand the concern on overstepping by freely sharing this information. I realize it's not binding in any way, and I don't know why this information isn't being shared more readily, however a bird told me that if you were to email Emily, you'd too get a 2 week estimate. That's what happened to my bird anyhow.

I guess all I'm getting at is @mash has information that was likely sourced similarly.

Sorry to be vague. I'm trying to balance respect for the community and respect for Vivant with how they choose to share information.

Well, you know, rather than just shout it out like that maybe you could have least announced a SPOILER coming. Then, at least, I'd have the opportunity to wait through the suspense of it all. But noooooooooo...you have to go ahead and announce it to the whole vaping world! :ugh: :ugh: :ugh:

Okay then, two weeks it is and then if there's no word on "The Fix", FC and Vivant slap leather at high noon....or thereabouts for late risers!

FWIW, Emily told me over two weeks ago that the new & improved top caps would be ready in 1-2 weeks.

Vivant is around, I think they're holding off saying anything more until they have news. Which mouthpiece worked best. Hopefully we dont have to wait that much longer for a batch to be produced and shipped over.

I did a 3minute session at 365F tonight and pulled off the mouthpiece after and tried the fingernail test on the lip around the screen. It was hot, but didnt deform. I quite like the unrestricted airflow compared to my Boundless vapes though. Thats a nice change.

Yes. they got very hot - just like the original.
It definitely needs more surface area.

So, I'm wondering if I may have caught a glimpse of a contributing overheating factor. I wanted to give it a spin for a eve session, it's sitting there and I used it. I got a pic, not the best because it was taken fast to catch the temp reading, but it was at 446 and was coming DOWN from that number. I had it set for 380. Still not sure how to post a pic but if anyone wants to see it or if it should be here for documenting purposes, I have it. I wonder if the temp doesn't run away on some units making them extremely hot and melting them? Anyway, just something I noticed.

The other night I was finishing a session (NEVER higher than 205C) and went to lightly brush off the cannabis from the screen. Next thing I know, is the screen is attached to the brush, but not the Alternate.

Sent Randy (from puffitup) an e-mail and I had a tracking number (for new top) almost instantly.

My broken top has some reclaim/resin stuck to it. Does anyone know of a safe way to reclaim this reclaim?
