Milaana. Lana. LANA. LANAAAA! (TM2/TP80/BAK/FW9)
@muunch the wood stems didn't seem to make much of an impression. Personally I am kinda of heavy on the button (too many cigars! although I haven't had one since January) so my idea was to make the bowl on the wood stem sit higher so it didn't get hit too hard from the coil. I was able to easily get nice brown abv without charring. Testers seem to be able to do this with standard stems so I don't think my stem design is that great.

I do think it'd be worth making more with the normal joint length though, I like the idea of the inner glass stem helping to form the bowl and it's nice and tight, looks great in the Touch too. I load my baskets deeper into the 14mm joints anyway (where they seat at the bottom) so there is always room between the load and the heater screen anyway, unless I load a huge bowl which is not too common. I also still need to test it a bit more, but I still get the best performance with the stock glass stems

I must have had a positive hallucination when I thought the coils got hot recently.

@mistvaporizer the only way to get the coils red is to insert the battery upside down. If there is enough contact for the battery to glow upside down wouldn't that indicate that there was enough connection to work in the right direction?

My logical mind tells me that the problem must be with either the on/off switch ( a GREAT addition for safety's sake) or the touch switch itself (both unnecessary for battery to work upside down.

However, it was not my logical mind that created the MVT. @mistvaporizer do you have any more ideas?

BTW, the MVT was never outside since I unpacked it. Actually I don't even think it left the room where I vape. Never been dropped or abused in any way.

Manufacturer
This is a first, I have had issues like this but only with newer units. First time a unit has worked for months then died. The manufacturer rates the touch sensor at 1,000,000 cycles, I have never had one of the switches go bad and the circuit doesn't have any moving parts. Only way to tell is to send it back and I'll look at it.

@soulfulrebel.MC just noticed your avatar, nice! There were some really amazing units in this batch. They are all pretty but a couple were really pretty, I guess you got lucky. What, was it your birthday or something.

Yes, it's my 50th in 3 days. Thank you.

I think it was meant to be. I remember you saying you just make em and send em. So I was hoping that I would get lucky and get a pretty one. I certainly felt lucky when I opened my box.;)

@FreddieFresh Thank you twice , for the info and the compliment.
I will try to get some pictures up. That one was in the evening in low natural light on my phone camera.

PS. I just saw the Birthday shout out. Aww Thanks guys:tup:

I took these on my cell phone camera in low light and couldn't really capture how nice the grain patterns look in real life. Almost look like flames custom sprayed onto my touch ( it looks that good to me)
In the last image I have my OG Milaana and my maple burl E-nano. The nano I paid extra as it was an exotic etc wood, the Milaana is standard. I would have had to pay extra to get a spalted Milaana ( and rightly so)

However I think all of the MVT's have a uniqueness and an iridiscence (shine) of their own, coupled with the improvements I think easily justifies the increase in price. Some are prettier than others but the majority I have seen have all looked very nice.

I have seen a few of the other MVT's out there and there are some real beauties. Coupled with it's great performance , it is a fantastic vape imho. For me it's nice to get a vaporizer that surpasses my expectations, just makes it all the sweeter.

The iridescence on mine is mesmerizing, even in artificial light. That was one of the reasons I was so hesitant to sell it (and man am I glad I kept it) even when I wasn't getting any good results. For a unit with a killswitch and the grain/quilting mine has at the price I got, I would have been kicking myself eternally if I sold it.

Should have a nice matching quilted maple stem next week as well :D

edit:

the @DDave 14mm stems that are used in the milaana kit work good, but ironically enough, I think I prefer the vapor quality from the stock stem...:doh:

edit2:

I am very seriously eating my words...

and they taste like sweet, dense OG Kush vapor :myday:

Thanks again and apologies to @mistvaporizer for my undeserved negative attitude

I was speaking to a friend who has started to get interested in vaping but still smokes. He has one vaporizer ( a black mamba ) and an e-cig mod. He laughed and asked me why I'd bought yet another vaporizer, also one very similar to the Milaana. Surely they just do the same thing he said laughing.

:doh:I tried to explain it in simple terms for him:

"Imagine you liked cars and had 4 or five. You'd have your 70's 2- seater Classic convertible, always needing some part they don't make anymore , but you love it as it was your first car or boyhood dream. Then you have the going out in style coupe /saloon (if ya got kids.) . your smart car or city run around. etc

They all get you from A to B , but all do it in different ways. It all depends on how you feel and how you want to get there. It's the same for vaping." I said

" Oh I see, I think I need another vaporizer " he replied.

....have the Milaana and mistvape too...Milaana has bigger bowl...both great vapes...minimal cleaning ..maintenance involved...

Yep just the stems need cleaning really . I've kinda got my technique down for my Milaana to produce nice clouds without them being harsh or hot. With practice and advice gleaned from fellow Fc'ers.

Although I am getting great results with my Touch, I am still searching and getting to know this Vape. Which will take time. I don't seem to have to modulate the button with the Touch to continue good vapor production. I like to try different things and have really gone easy and not chased big clouds , so I've been pleasantly surprised with the results I've been getting.

In the interests of science I will continue the search. I will find it in time. :D

As a Milaana is unregulated it's more the concepts of its use, ( pre-heat when cold , really slow draw, let the vapor fall into your mouth, then modulate and continue or increase draw strength ) which have helped me begin with the Touch , but to me they work slightly differently and require a change in the techniques.

Both are very efficient. I can get big fairly dense clouds dry with my Mi. I think the density is a little less with the Touch but again that could well be my unfamiliarity with the device right now , as I know it takes(me) a while to master any unregulated vape.
I think the Touch is a little easier to tame than the Mi, as she is can be a real powerhouse. However I haven't tried the DDave Milaana mod (next on my list) as of yet. Touch has the power but is a little more reserved with it. Making it easier to produce great results especially through water. As seen in the UTube videos by PaytonPenn and Vape Dr.

Either way they are two great Vapes which have been gladly accepted into my little collection. They produce great flavourful vapor.

So if you are kinda undecided as to which one should you get ? I would say it would come down to which one you feel you like the look of best or the attributes you feel one has. ( from numerous feedback videos, reviews etc) You can't go wrong with either IMHO. But why NOT get both !

There is no one Vape that is Master of them all, well not to me anyway. As I mentioned before I'll use different Vapes depending on how I feel , I will have the main few in rotation. Sometimes I prefer certain strains out of a particular vape as opposed to another. Where I happen to be , situation , location etc . They can all play a part in what vape or vapes I'll use, they all have their qualities.

So I use my Vapes and enjoy them, that's why I bought them, and if somebody else makes something that I feel is a good product I will get onboard once again.

I just got my first "other" vape. A beautiful Sticky Brick in curly maple. I'll have to post a pic. We swapped I sent a Touch and got a Brick.
I like the vapor production and taste on the Brick excellent unit.

Nice! I tried to tell you when I showed you my beta Brick Jr that time you tried the Milaana, but you really have to experience it for yourself to appreciate it. Such simple yet pure convection

I'm in the teens! I've been using Ddave's screenless stem for the 2 screen method without screens. Love it. But I don't know if it will work with the mist because it involves using a 14mm stem and a reducer. I should be writing this on his thread but I'm excited that my name will be up soon.

@little maggie Exciting times for sure, I remember wondering what the grain will be like. They are all unique and I think they are all lovely looking units. I'm sure you'll be happy with it once it comes. (that's just looks wise)
Even if it was just made in a plain birch or maple the way it performs is first class. I just seem to be getting vapor even when I don't think there will be any Its there! Nice cool but clearly visible vapor. If I try to push it a little it just ramps up vapor production!

I started out 4 second preheat from cold then with a slow inhale counting for 6-7 seconds button on, ( fresh battery ) to see what kind of results I'd get. Then I tried pulsing , carbing, ( covering one of the port holes to restrict airflow and increase heat) to build up heat quicker when button was on . Then uncover port hole to increase airflow once vapor starts and continue with draw.
IT ALL WORKS! I got great results with everything I tried. It's just so versatile.

I want to get to the point where I intuitively know this vape and it's limits & limitations, feeling when to come of the button, how to pulse, do I even need to etc. as it's only then (imho) that you personally master the vape based on your personal way of using it, up to its potential.

So for now I'm gonna just enjoy the ride.:D

A (quick;)) list of what I like about my Touch; ( in no particular order)

1. Ease of use- a small learning curve based on a slow intake will produce effective results.
2. Great vapor production
3. Efficiency - great with micro dosing and will extract da goods very thoroughly if so desired.
4. Effects - This thing is a hitter for sure! :whoa:
5. Mad Flavor- I exhaled and my friend said he could almost taste it himself, retains good flavor through the session.
6. Great performance & visual feedback through water- I am able to milk my glass with ease & also decide easily with a slightly longer press to get even Bigger clouds.
7. Good value - For a bespoke hand crafted unique and very pretty, fantastic performing vape that's not that difficult to use. It is worth every penny!
8. Great build quality- Well designed & very nicely put together, the kill-switch and recessed female glass gives durability and peace of mind. ( 1st day I got it I was in the garden with the wife and she accidently knocked it out of my hand forcefully onto the decking. ( no stem in it, thank god ) But no visible damage or performance wise, and I'm not advocating throwing your Touch around , but shit happened and I'm still good. The wife gets out of hospital next week too.
9. V. Good battery performance- I just lose track of how many bowls I get but it's impressive.
10. You may just get yourself one of the prettiest vapes in your collection. I did.
11. Dave is a nice guy to deal with - responds to queries questions promptly as well as despatching . 4 days to the Uk ! That's gotta be a record.

So the long (mine) and the short (@Farkas ) of it is ...

" I love this vape too."

Ddave said he might work on something for the mist. I don't know how that gets worked out but I hope it happens. He needs to make a concentrate chamber that will work for a 14mm stem for the mist. The current one uses a 14mm stem inside an 18mm adapter and won't work without it.
The mistvape will be my only vape that uses a 14mm stem so I don't have much that will work with it.
The wood looks beautiful. Do you think it's worth it to get the color frame or not?

Yeah he was working on silver concentrate chambers but other things took priority I think? Anyway hemp fiber or steel mesh seems to work fine, though I haven't tried concentrates here myself. And you'll be fine, just order some extra stems and screens when your name comes up on the list, I've got plenty now myself. Get a few shorties and a long stem or two, spare screens and the wood stir tool/collar (which also happens to be an ideal VapCap tool actually). The exotic wood trim is up to you, it costs more as it's more labor intensive with fancy wood, but it does looks amazing and mine even layers 4 types of wood... But the plain quilted maple units are beautiful too so it depends how much you want to spend really

I need to share a photo of my new tool and collar, they are stunning tulipwood to match my stem from Alan, but they may be even nicer! Only tested the collar once though it seems to work perfectly as far as I can tell, and it is a great way to add in some more fancy wood!
