What's your favorite torch or lighter to use with the Vapcap?

I am back to using the triple one that came with my first Vapcap. A little stuff trigger but very good overall and very fast. I recently got a couple single flame and one double flame cheapos from a local smoke shop that where full matte black and pretty but the triggers are stiff and thumb feels sore soon. So I am back to the OG triple since my Vapman torch had a hard time sparkling up recently. I hope I get a quality triple or quadruple soon with a light trigger. Maybe one of those expensive ones recently mentioned. For now I have ordered the quadruple one from Dynavap to try. Anyone tried the Cohiba triple and quadruple ones?

Does anyone have any experience with lubinski lighters?

I really like the look of this one in steel:
http://airlampe.com/?product=lubinski-cigar-lighter-single-torch-sk-9

Not sure why there's a grate/grill over the jet though? Is it to dissipate the jet and spread it over a bigger area? Would this affect the lighters ability to be used with the VC?

Anyone have an Xikar Allume? I'm curious about anyone's experience with it.
I'm also interested to hear if anyone has any experience with this lighter.

I tried researching reliable ones and ended up with a list that is only available in the UK.
I'm not sure what exactly I need to do differently but, even though it's not the best environmental solution, are there any lighters that are truly disposable? Only for 1x use and then dispose of instead of refillable? I also have trouble with the kind of lighter that works like a bic or zippo where you have to slide a wheel.

Also has anyone tried something like a tesla?

Tesla electric arc lighters don't work with the vapcap.

Please share a link to the list if you think it's decent.

Please don't buy and throwaway lighters just because you haven't found a solution yet. You'll find a decent one I'm sure! Keep the faith. If you don't, have you considered an induction heater from @Pipes?

So many beautiful lighters in that site...:drool::drool:

So I'm thinking about my dream lighter for my VapCap and I'm wondering...

I wish I had a side loading torch lighter with recessed jets that allow me to stick my VapCap in horizontally, turn on the torch that is recessed so the flame doesn't roast the cap, and then just twist my vapcap inside of the lighter enclosure until I hear the click.

This could probably be DIY'd using a normal torch lighter and just add a metal piece with holes in it on top with a larger hole on the side that fits a VapCap. :science:

My motivation here is I want to be able to heat my VapCap when I'm out and about without showing people I'm holding a pipe looking object over a torch lighter for an extended period.

I want a torch lighter with more of a Heater aesthetic and less of a torch lighter aesthetic.

Has anyone heard of anything like this?

@phattpiggie has a modified lighter and @Pipes has a few Induction Heaters models to choose from.

What you are looking for is possible.

This torch has been used every day since it arrived, it's not perfect but it comes to pieces which is great for someone like me who refuses to throw anything away.

I'm using the cheapest gas I can get and have expected some jet problems, which is exactly what happened the other day.
One of the flames was very small and was 'Twisting my melon, man'.

Two screws and the top comes off, the little black inserts pop out leaving a nice little window to work thru to reattach the silicone pipes to the jets on reassembly. A tweezer job.

Stripped it and then forced gas back thru the jet and put it back together. Problem solved.

A big tank but it never seemed to empty fully, I'd had to remove the flame adjuster and move it round to allow it to empty as much as it will before the flame quality is compromised. It lasts me a couple of days with the added shield. Well worth £4.

The first Hong JIng was the most wind proof design, the body has a couple of little stress fractures so it's my back up's, back up. Cheap flashlight body re-purposed. Again at least a full day to a tank.

I wanted the Aomai to look as 'normal' as possible so I've left the lid in place which means the slot at the hinge lets the really strong gusts thru, but it's a lot easier to tuck in to a coat and make work. Random piece of aluminium tube that I had this time.

It's got white labels stuck to it so I can see if there is any major scorching, which it hasn't.
Looks better without the labels

Hope this helps @MinnBobber, I'd be more than happy to make some more if we could all find a reliable torch.

After many lighters have failed (mostly the piezo igniter..), and currently using Clipper lighters.. :ninja:,
I decided to try something else.

I'm waiting on that dual torch flame lighter, ignited by flint wheel. Easy peasy

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Zico-Refill...asy-Removable-Replaceable-Flint-/232242915328

I'll also try to catch his little brother - Aomai single flame with flint - that could fit in the Dynastash,
and maybe a Xikar Stratosphere, and that's it !

By experience, even non-cheap lighters ends by failing/breaking, I can't find a resilient and sustainable one.. Maybe I have to pass to the induction side :D

@bibblybobbly

I have a similar one that I use in the kitchen. But the flame is too intense and aggressive for my Vapcap.

Can the Kitchen Craft Blowtorch flame be adjusted down to around an inch long or less?

Yeah there's a wheel that adjusts the size of the flame. I have it producing a flame of about this size:

Whoops realized that isn't the most helpful photo for estimating size, so here's the lighter next to an ipod for comparison:

If God is the answer, then the question is wrong
@Squiby + 1 for the cylinder flint wheel wind proof lighter you "advertised" I like it a lot.
I received it last week and after some use I love the on/off switch and the overall built quality easy of use! Only bad side is its main feature: small
Also, to say all, the unusual switch on/off (you have to push to open gaz and push again opposite side to turn it off) can be dangerous as it stays on even in the eventuality it falls (in a dry leaves wood or in the bed this could be quite an hazard).

Has anyone used a clipper jet lighter?
Are they any good?

CLIPPER Jet Flame Torch Cigarette Cigar Butane gas Metal Lighter (Silver) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01N7G9CE7/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_0kxazb6MXS37V

I decided if I was going for a small single flame lighter I was better off getting the really thin flint wheel one @Squiby recommended as it gave me the option of one day being able to fit it in the DynaStash (if I bore out the DS a bit).

I like the shape of it but I think your thumb will be too close to flame and feel the heat while heating until the click. Too much heat I am afraid of

Another advantage of the flint wheel lighter is that you can have the flame on without the need to hold a button down which means less chance of burnt thumbs. Although if you drop it you will likely burn down what ever room you are in so dont go for this lighter if you suffer from narcolepsy.

And, not too much space for butane. Not a real big deal if you're using it to light cigs or a joints, but takes much more flame-time for VC and other butane powered vapes.

The flint wheel lighter suffers from a small tank issue so I've bought 3 of them (they are cheap as chips), I know I can get a day to two days usage out of a single tank.

Since I'm tired of my big torch, yesterday I was searching for something pocket-size, efficient, possibly with visible butane tank... and I finally ordered this one

The orientation of these jets seems perfect for ignite a VapCap, no?

Yep. I have one of these and I like it, sort of. It's great when it works but it intermittently dies for no apparent reason. So, I put it in a drawer to just think about itself for awhile and usually, when I take it out again, it works, for awhile.

This one likes tough love.

Looks like a nice one. A couple things here that I like in a jet torch.
  • Auto open/close!
  • Has that easy to work with angle.
  • Small enough to picket or fit in my little VC bag.
  • Can easily see butane level.
  • 2 jets! Still think this is perfect for VCs for me. For me, 4 is definitely too much, 3 can be a bit heavy heat, 1 is nice but takes a little longer than I like, 2 is just right.
Please let us know how well it works!

I will! If it works, at least for awhile... I will. ;)

I like my dual flames. Only used dual and single though so can't compare to the triple or quad torches.

I've been using my zippo insert again recently and as long as I bleed it properly during refilling it seems to behave.

My ultimate lighter would be:
  • Dual flame
  • Tank window
  • Adjustable flame (no tool needed)
I find ambient temps have a real impact on fuel usage and flame stability. The colder the ambient temp the more open the jet needs to be.

Because my current lighters can only be adjusted with a screw driver I end up leaving the flam on max which wastes fuel. If I could adjust the flam by turning a dial id be able to set the flame height to the minimum required for the ambient temp.

This is a nice triple in steel to match the M:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/291209713632

It's for easily adjustable flame with a tuck away twist mechanic. No fuel window though.

I'm making do with my dual torch turbo flame until I find a lighter I really like. Been looking ages now, feel like I'm going crazy :freak::lol:

My criteria are:

Metal (steel/chrome)
Single or double torch
Fuel window
Easily adjustable flame height
Decent size fuel tank
