With my Ti Woody I've noticed that it is possible to create alot of heat under the right circumstances and I can feel the heat on my lips believe it or not. It happens sometimes when plugging the carb hole for the entire hit and drawing hard, with no downtime between heating cycles. I think what you're saying is the heat created by these circumstances originates inside the vapor path, but will conduct to the outside of the condenser tube where it contacts the O-ring, theoretically causing the ring to offgas, which would then travel back to the condenser input and into your mouth as you're drawing, right? And same deal with the O-rings on the tip?
I would like to think that the hi-temp rings Dynavap uses are rated high enough to withstand that brief heat, but also I was going to say that this is not a regular occurrence for me. It only happens when I'm trying too hard to milk it and it really only happens with whole nugs or large pieces of herb in a partially filled chamber. This is one of the reasons I prefer to use a medium to fine grind, tamped down, chamber 100% full. Finely ground material tightly packed makes vapor production and "milking" more effortless than with whole nugs, and I don't heat up the unit nearly as much, nowhere near the point where I feel it on my lips.. When loading my chamber like that I never feel the heat; the vapor has already been createdand is hitting my throat like a wall before the unit has a chance to heat up to those supposedly unsafe levels.

This is pretty neat, it almost makes me want to try to collect all Omnivap revisions.
The Omnivap IS awesome. I have the older version from the preorders last spring. I will get the newer model in the XL length when they release them in a few months.

Can't wait.

Or even more to the extreme :a mokume-gane body/stem ,
made out of noble metals like Gold,Sterling Silver,Platinum,Rhodium,Niobium, etc.

Pattern welding is out of my range of skills, I mostly work with O1 tool steel for my blades. Also I have a tiny Lathe that doesn't deal with metal so well. I love the look of Pattern welding but it's a pain in the butt and no one is going to pay $250 for a stem.

Maybe you could make something out of a material like this M3 Mokume composite @Winegums?

Not as cool as real Mokume of course.. But then again you don't need to be a master blacksmith to use this stuff!

A few bodies have been made out of Damascus/Mokume! I have one of the short damascus bodies, it's my favorite.

That's quite a pair, the XL one definitely looks more convenient. I might just pick one up when they come out.

At this point, VAS for me pretty much stands for VapCap Acquisition Syndrome.

Lo and Behold! The transformative power of Vapor.
PkHSibr.jpg

So the flame placement is the difference between a quick click and a slow click.
@SloJimFizz @GreenHopper @exime and all. @GreenHopper thanks for the images. I am trying to get a medium heat with my triple torch and have some heat resistant rings that might add a little different function to the carb's airpath. Since the condenser is designed to cool the vapor, that might even be less of a worry if I found something to perhaps slow down the draw from the carb.

So the hot air is created between the small gap between the space between the inside of the cap and the outside of the tip? Which I figured to some effect, which would explain how the fins in the tip were perhaps designed to distribute heat. More surface area for the heat to be trapped perhaps?

Tried to incorporate more feathering and how I work the carb after reading here. What I thought was far above the flame was still too close to get that slower heating tequnique and a louder more resonant click. Yes, I'm training my ear to catch any cue. Will try a slower butane torch to bring me to the slower heat soaking range. Refilled my lighter and still trying to get the knack. Willing to hear anything that might get me closer to a more predictable session. :peace:

All the Damascus and Mokume posted by @Quint and myself were made by Dynavap. These were a few stems and bodies George made available as well as a few custom requests. My Damascus Omni was a custom job as was the last stem, made for @Copacetic.
I'm really tempted to buy some Timascus sometime and see if it can be machined.

I'm a newbie M owner but my sessions are not as predictable as I'd like. Triple torch user BUT double on order for hopefully less noise (???) and a lesser heat to hopefully better control the heatup process with a lower temp + more time ( I don't need or want the quickest click).
Claim was made that longer heatup time to click nets a louder click. Is that true??

Tip for better hearing cool-down click: I leave M in my mouth and have it firmly against top teeth or top and bottom teeth so when it clicks, I get a noticeable pop in my teeth and jawbone. It magnifies the click. Without this method, the cooldown clicks are subtle and sometimes I swear it never did click ???

Currently working on better heat-up technique or tools. Like @CuckFumbustion , I welcome ideas to get more predictable sessions :)

The cool down click is pretty easy to manage with a magnet. Throw it on the magnet and if it doesn't click in a second or three it probably already has.
Hearing or feeling the heat up click is more critical cause if you miss it you risk combustion. You really need to have a torch/technique combo that is predictable so you know when to be wary if you don't notice a click. It becomes natural but may take a little learning/practice.

@CuckFumbustion, @MinnBobber: If you're trying to get more predictable sessions, only change one variable at a time. That way you can see how that variable affects the process.

To all new VapCap owners, stick in there! I have to be honest, my first impression was that they were a bit overrated. It took a little time to dial in my technique and fall in love.

I usually heat my cap about halfway down, maybe a little lower. I place the cap just above the bright blue inner flame while I spin it. I keep my torch set as low as possible without it sputtering. This is both to conserve butane and provide a more gradual heating and effective extraction.

I like to feather the air intake unless I'm lazy and using my Omni. I just enjoy the stimulation of using the "carb". It reminds me of my combustion days.

I've never been a fan of mouth pulling and high draw restriction. I used to smoke cigarettes for almost two decades and I would inhale those straight to my lungs, no mouth draws there either. I guess I'm just a crazycombustionfucker...

I like to pack mine full to the brim with a medium grind, it produces great flavor for the first cycle, and then several cycles of huge clouds with gradually diminishing flavor.

Although I have been thinking I might take advantage of the adjust a bowl feature soon, I've only recently acquired a new tip that supports that. I think the medium position might be ideal for me, it would probably result in one cycle of amazing flavor followed by one huge cloud. Then I could just repack and repeat! What's not to like about that?

Question for the Uk guys in here . How long did delivery take from the US?
Many thanks !

Hi, I ordered on 2/4/17, got email notifying shipment on 4/4/17 and received package on 13/4/17. No customs fee was charged. That was before the 420 sale started, so not sure if that'll delay things a bit.

Ordered the 'M'; my first vapcap, and first time with a butane vape. It was worth the wait — very efficient and I've already achieved huge clouds with a tiny amount of bud. Couldn't be happier with it

Good post, so much of this post mirrors my own Vapcap experience.
Combusted a couple loads at first which made the subsequent loads not very flavorful or pleasing and toking this thing was not happening, imo. Wondered what all the fuss was about so sat it aside for my others. Browsing the forum this active thread kept popping to the top with people loving this thing and sharing advice and tips on usage.
Since I had bought it used, I decided to give the woody a thorough cleaning to start from scratch and give it another go. Jamming a couple ISO rubbing pads through the condenser with a toothpick till it came out clean. Did some scouring for some tip heating tips and tried again.
So glad I did...
My aha moment was when I took my old bong with a glass bowl built in, not the slider type. Jammed it in there with the fat mouth piece on to create the seal. First lungfull through that, and that was it.
Now I'm afraid I'm hooked and have gone all in setting myself and friends up for years. No other company got any of my 4/20 spending knut. $99 Haze3 and other great deals, almost, but no. More Vapcap stuff kept piling into my cart.
I've let my combusting friends try my other vapes, and they say they like it and such, then go on and fire up their next bowl or blunt. After I coach them through a proper hit off the vapcap, orders for one were coming out of their vapeholes as fast as the vape cloud was.
