@OF so my medical grade plastic syringes came in before the glass one so I tried one out for a spin. So far everything is working great as expected. Feels just like the co2 oil days but better because my shatter consistency is always pull and snap at the minimum. I don't like runny stuff, to messy to deal with. I haven't tried shatter that actually shatters but pull n snap shatter is perfect. I just push a little out and a bb sized load is ready to cut off and load with one of my needle tools. I will be loading my shatter into syringes for dt loading from now on. I can already see this saving me tons on a hot day

Looks good from here. I'm glad to hear the bigger bore didn't offer too much resistance for your goods.....it sure did here.

This is 'a results oriented game', and you've got the results.

BTW, the cut off end of a round wood toothpick makes a great 'cork' for these guys. I usually nip the tip off first so it doesn't displace too much concentrate (making a mess) going in. I back the plunger off a mite and poke it in. Stays clean and tidy (no chance of leaks).

Thanks for the feedback, perhaps others will follow?

Seems perfect for loading when I'm home, I might have to try that. I usually bring a little slab on parchment with a toothpick when I'm out of the house. I like that it stows away in my wallet so I'm not otherwise carrying anything but my v3. It's super compact, but I could see how one could load quickly this way. It seems less useful if you still need a tool though. Can you "paint" the donut or does that get the end all gunked up? I've been painting my dabs after pre heating the donut for a second, getting tasty hits every time with minimal reclaim and minimal concentrate use. I barely use any shatter when painting and just try to vaporize that whole load in one draw. I want to get a WPA for the v3 and adjust my mod to one of these other firmwares for a 15 second temp protection. I'm thinking the longer temp lockout should allow me to keep the temperature lower while getting bigger draws and ensuring more complete vaporization of the concentrate. I've been doing some lower temp draws lately and I notice vapor production really starts picking up near the end of temp protection, if I do a shorter inhale I can miss a lot of those first round goodies.

I actually made it a priority to order some with caps. I bought a 4 pack for like $6 with caps. I will for sure reuse the caps for my glass syringe coming in too. The plastic ones are actually 1cc tubes like yours. The cap uses the exact same concept as u with the toothpick
NJGZHIF.jpg

Still waiting on experimenting with the 2cc. I barely used the 0.5 grams I just loaded into the 1cc plastic syringe, but it seems like nothing is sticking to the walls of the syringe or the rubber/silicone on the plunger. I haven't gotten the wax to fully melt in the tube yet though. Does wax usually stick to your plastic or glass syringes? Does your glass plunger have any rubber/silicone at the tip or us it just a glass rod? The one I ordered is a glass rod and looking at the performance of these little syringes, I wish I should've got the glass syringes with the silicon at the tip

@invertedisdead I wouldn't suggest painting the donut with the plastic syringes, it's plastic... The shatter I have in there is a pull n snap consistency so I can actually cleanly break off that chunk in the picture by hand if I wanted. I use a needle like tool or my hands. So far for me, this the cleanest, easiest way to load when your out and about. The syringe not only stores the wax, but perfectly and cleanly rations out a bowl. For me loading a bowl off parchment paper is the last thing I want to do out and about
All you need is a bb sized chunk on the donut not touching the side walls, and some gravity to load the donut. I used to use a toothpick and I also used to paint my wax on to load. But I just moved on to other ways that works better for me

Sorry for not knowing this was 1cc from the photo. I'd be interested in your results there.

While the wax sticks a bit on the plastic tube, the plunger sweeps it clean. I bought traditional glass syringes, although they do have some dye on the chamfer on the tip so you can see it on the scale. I wanted to eliminate the friction of the plunger. So far all I've done is break the first on playing with it. Don't hold your finger over the end and pull back on the plunger to 'test' the seal. Or if you do let go gently? Otherwise the plunger runs up that lovely 'friction free' bore and through the end........

If you want to 'direct paint' the doughnut (or other heaters, like in 'vape pens') I suggest a short, large bore needle like used for dispensing glue. Bent ones are easier to use. Like these:

Gauge is important, you want 'small numbers'.

Regards to all.

So my cold resistance changed but I never got a resistance change message from my mod. Is this donut toast?

Did it go up after cleaning by heating it? Depending on how much it changed it might still be OK. I have a 2.5 base that's almost an entire Ohm now, up from about .7 and still does very well indeed.

A jump to twice value is fatal for sure, it usually means half the element is burned out, and most mods freak out at about 1.5 Ohms anyway.

Only one guy can tell for sure if it's good to go, time to send it to the showers.......or back to the minors.

It's at .66 cold but was locked in at .62
No cleaning, although I did raise my power to 35 watts for a day, maybe that did it? I usually keep it at 33w. Still seems to be performing alright for now at least. I'll probably try and stretch it through this last bit of material I've been running through it and then replace it for some new material.

I wouldn't worry about it. If it seems cool, either unlock, reset, relock or just bump the temperature up some. Don't be afraid to dial it up past 420F or any other 'scary number', remember the actual temperature is less than what you're selecting because of the resistance offset.

@OF so I got my 2cc glass syringe. Have you ever loaded your glass syringe before breaking it? I found it very difficult to push out my shatter in the glass syringe compared to the plastic 1cc. The main culprit is the tip of the glass syringe rather than the size of the piston. The opening of the plastic syringe is small but it a small hole, not a small tube. The tip of the glass syringe has a 1/2 of a tiny needle sized tube. I double checked on ebay and most of the syringes are of the needle tube like tip,no matter the size.
$_3.JPG
haha there were also fewer selection of glass syringes from a few days ago. I did a little digging and was able to snatched the last one of 1cc glass syringes with no needle tip and a metal piston
$_3.JPG
I hope I didn't waist more money to find these to have a needle sized opening. If it's anything like the plastic ones it would be perfect

No, so far only broke one playing. I'm about to wade in since I'm on my last loaded plastic syringe. The holes in mine are smaller (thicker walls on the Lure taper part) but hopefully that only means a more skinny ribbon? Perhaps the wax I'm using is enough thinner? Time will tell.

Thanks for the update, good luck with it.

OF

Edit: So I dug out another jar of the wax and one of the glass syringes....... Once the seed is planted and all that.

Total bust with this material. If even the smallest bit of wax gets between the plunger and bore it virtually glues it in place. I managed to work it out and push the lumps out with a wire from the front, but it's not going to work. ISO and swabs got it clean and free again, but a tiny bit on the plunger and all is lost again. Glad I didn't buy a bunch. Now I don't feel quite so bad about breaking the first, it's not going to be needed this time. I have a 'nearly new' one for some later adventure, meanwhile I've ordered a bunch of the disposable ones from Ebay, they're plenty cheap enough to make them 'one time use'. Trivial compared to the cost of the wax.

When I have enough used ones I'll invent some tool/scoop the dig the bit trapped in the tip, I suspect there's about 'one medium ball' worth there? Be a fun thing to do some night......

Fuckin awesome video @WakeAndVape! Very informative and well put together.

@OF and @Steven I'm surprised to hear you guys are having any luck running pull snap through a syringe of any material, glass, plastic or otherwise. I'm still rolling up and cutting up snakes. Wife says it looks like I'm smoking boogers.

This syringe method had me intrigued for a minute, but I'm happy enough with the snakes. I break off about a quarter and roll it out using a duo pad so I don't touch it with my hands, then cut it up into 5 pieces with the cutter dab tool. when i go out, all i'm bringing with me are the v3, a silicon container and maybe a toothpick or other disposable tool in case a ball gets stuck to the inside wall (of the v3) during loading.

The syringe really isn't a better road option for me in this scenario. Instead of carrying the container and the toothpick in my pocket or pack, I'd be carrying a syringe around, which.. isn't really the look I'm going for.

So if syringe can really only help me cut the balls more easily while I'm at home.. think i'll skip on trying this. getting negligible loss with my current method.

if you can't tell i have very little experience running oils through syringes. i never ever get CO2 oil or any kind of sappy products, everything i use is fully touchable at room temp.

Am I just totally wrong on this? You're not losing an unacceptable amount of product on the inside of the syringe? I sure did when I was trying to fill talks w EJmix-type runny oils, but those had the needle and hub, where most of the loss really was.

gotta admit, it would be pretty sweet to be able to squeeze a drop out onto the syringe tip and apply it directly to the (cool) donut. plus have an easy way to make my balls for when i go out.. If there's no loss.. still intrigued i guess..

Yea it's basically whatever suits you best is what I'd say. I mostly vape in my car when I'm out and about so sometimes it can get pretty hot in there. The California spring sun will even do it. In my scenario, I bring the syringe with me for out and about use on warm days. This way the wax is much looser and comes out easily out of the syringe. Also, when it does melt down a bit, the syringe is definitely easier to handle than cutting up a snake. Sometimes I load a container with pre rolled balls and it gets melted in my car.

I was pleasantly suprised wax doesn't really stick to the syringe. Very little is wasted. Depending on the syringe, some have silicon that are pointy so it pushes everything out of the syringe. If it's cool out and the wax hardens inside, I just hold it in my hands for a minute to warm it up. I'm definitely still using g the snake and cut method, but just use syringes for hot days

Edit
So you can actually squeeze out some wax and directly apply it to a cool donut. When I have to warm up the syringe in my hands, the wax usually hardens within few seconds when pressed out. Meaning the exposed chunk of wax breaks off cleanly after I press it onto the donut. The syringe can definitely serve as a container as well as an applicator. I haven't tried it yet but you can probably paint the wax onto the donut using a glass syringe. I'm waiting for some glass syringes to come in for this purpose. I'm thinking the heat of the donut will loosen the localized wax so that it can be pushed out easily

is Matt away? i just realized i haven't gotten a response to an email i sent on april 2.
I am here not sure if it went to spam, can you send it again matt@ineedhemp.com

I have been reluctant to come on here because i am upset about the crucible cup and i can not seem to make it a reality. I have been talking about it for 4 months, so it's kind of embarrassing.. I have asked over 50x about it to SC and i seem to get nothing back,, so just last night he sent me a new autocad of it and said it will not work in the v3,, I am working on another wax RDA that will be able to use any of the wrapped #coilporn type coils. \\ I want to reel in on the SAI users, that metal atomizer is selling better than the v3, some people love their metals coils, ,,so for this new atomizer I was going to call this one the v3.5 but it will be a whole different atomizer. so I will have to think of a new name ..it will be metal for the proto and initial release at first but i plan on evolving it into ceramic and glass on as many parts as i can .. the donuts will work on this unit as well and this new crucible cup i am thinking.. I have a few autocads to show to the curious past customers , just email me matt@ineedhemp.com.
I am still sourcing micro fans to play around and create some ideas for the forced air atomizers.

Please email matt@ineedhemp.com for any question or service

4/20 both atomizers the v3 and the gen 2 DC are discounted and in my signature on every post. feel free to pass the link to friends

The Sai is a nice piece, but the other coils do NOT hold a candle to the ceramic donut. Thought it might have been related to metal vs ceramic housing before the Sai donuts were available, the Sai just couldn't give flavor like the DT devices. But, no, its all about the coils. Gotta appreciate the ease with which you can replace the coils too.

Just ordered the Generation 2 dry herb atty from Matt, curious... the V3 is definitly the tastier atty I ever tried although I don't use it as a DD cause I'm lazy guy and prefer to load an half gram in my Hercule for the week....but I regulerly take it out for some tasty dabs!

The thing about the Sai is everybody talked all these coils up as being so good, but now that the donuts are out everyone seems to prefer them. The v3 still has a larger donut, so it's still a better performer to me. Surface area matters for concentrates so they spread out and vaporize quicker instead of pooling! That's why devices like the Liger 30mm exist, more surface area.

I have a Sai (with glass MP) and several DTv3s and the Sai almost never sees the light of day. The Sai is very well constructed and the abiltiy to just screw in a new coil is nice, but there's a metalic taste I don't care for. I don't feel it's just the metal coils that impart the taste but also the stainless atomizer body. I've not tried the donut coils in the Sai - but I don't see much of a reason to with the v3 around. I might, at some point, try some of the SS/BC coils in the Sai with temp control, but for now the kanthal/bc coil (19w) is the only one I use in the Sai - usually for someone who thinks a hit needs to be harsh in order to be effective
