Herb Grinders

Thanks Vito! Been wanting the large 3" 4 piece! Hoping to use it as a 3 piece...don't see why it wouldn't be possible?

I really do not like four piece grinders. I don't want to collect kief, I want to vape that shit with the herb so I have always preferred three piece grinders.

This 4 piece SLX grinder is so well designed that the screen/kief section lifts right out like it was never there. So now I have exactly what I wanted in the first place, an SLX three piece. I love well made equipment.

I know it's honeymoon phase, but liking it more than your Lift? Did you ever have a GR8TR btw?

I am patiently waiting for the SLX to get sticky. Nothing yet, nothing. All my other grinders would be gummed up by now. LMAO! I must admit I am surprised, no, I'm shocked the non-stick coating works so damn well honeymoon phase or not. I wonder what the hell took me so long to test drive an SLX?

Try & hold off cleaning it for at least 3 months :2c:. I have cleaned mine 4 or 5 times overall (never really "needed" cleaning I just like clean vape gear) & it is certainly unique in how long it goes between cleans. That is running at least 2lb through it so it takes a beating alright.

A spotless SLX is like butter for a few days. It accumulates build up quickly but it feels like it "settles down" & does not seem to collect any more or certainly not at the rate it starts. Thanks for the heads up on the Lift as that was the only other grinder I would consider buying right now. The problem is the SLX gives me no reason to stray.

I just sent a grinder from Canada south of the border...shipping was less than $20cad, which is less than $15usd. Canada post w/tracking....equivalent of USPS.

Not quite the same thing. You can't use Canada post to ship from the US-to-Canada Unfortunately. :(

Ah looks like I'll be finally going with an SLX then. Yeah not to keen on the GR8TR overall aside from the promise of consistent medium-fine grind. I feel like the non stick SLX (with its own unique teeth and holes) is more worth it for less money even. Will follow up when I do...

Hi @steama if you weren't on your honeymoon wich grinder would you recommend ? I'm not a big fan of ceramic when it comes to food in general, is there any chances of particules transfer between the grinder and the herbs ? What do you mean when you say having an aversion for some parts of the GR8TR ?

What are the pros and cons of a stone grinder ?

Good evening everyone !

Here are my favorite grinders. I think that there are many more great grinders I have not tried or listed. I think the SLX is really on to something with the ceramic non-stick coating which is completely inert and safe. Their website has all the info you need to know about the coating.
1) SLX 2.4"
2) SCS medium
3) Lift Grinder

That's very kind from you. I'll check their website and the other grinder you mention.

Canada post is basically the equivalent of USPS. I still think something is wrong, i've received things from the US for less shipping than $25usd, for something bigger than a grinder. But whatever, I won't be picking one up for the same reason as the other member.

International shipping is expensive. :( If you know of a cheaper way to ship it, feel free to PM me!
USPS.

I'm disappointed in your response. I see this all the time, overpriced international shipping to help pay for the free US shipping.

I recently purchased an item from the US. Their standard rate is $30 USD for international shipping. In the box they accidentally included a page listing actual shipping cost on not only my order but a dozen others.. they paid $17.xx for mine (larger parcel). None of the packages actually cost $30 to mail.

It works great for a high volume store, but even they can lose international customers over it. I'll only pay this type of overpriced shipping if the item is valueable or rare enough to justify it. Your grinder isn't one of those items.

What confuses me based on their store is why Interplanetary Development would take this approach?

I agree, and i've seen it dozens of times where I pay way more than the actual shipping costs. I rack it up to shipping & handling for their packaging material, time to go to the post office, etc. And like you said, if it was for a $500 vaporizer or something, then no problem....but not for a $50 product.

The worst is Hopper Labs, they charge I think $25usd and the tracking stops working at the border. Cheap fucks!

Back to the show..... looking forward to picking up the SLX 2.4" now BIG TIME! Hope that there is a decent 4/20 sale.... I should of already owned this grinder a year ago, but it was out of stock when I went to buy it. Ended up with the Kannastor instead. Still miss it.

US Mail First Class as long as the package is under a pound. Once you get over 1lb it has to ship USPS Priority Mail for anything outside the US.

Alright guys. Clearly I'm an idiot.

My understanding of USPS International Shipping was that if you were shipping anything that wasn't flat, you were pretty much forced to use priority mail. As you guys pointed out, thats not the case. As such, I've got the website fixed up now. There should be a two options now for international shipping. One for First-Class, which should be about $10, (As long as your order is under 1 pound) and the original rate, International-Priority, for ~$25.

However, the rates are calculated. So depending upon where you live, it may be a little more or a little less.

I've said it before, InterplanetaryDevelopment & @InterplanetaryTanner have amazing above and beyond customer service, not like I've seen with any grinder company before and even a cut above many vape manufacturers as well. That alone is reason enough to buy, plus the products are high quality with rock bottom pricing now too thanks to the sale

You should have no issues. There WILL be a small little ridge where you'd usually place the screen but I can't see it as being a huge issue. Both the kief chamber (the bottom piece) and the walls of the herb chamber are like cambered for easy pouring/etc.

I'll also note @InterplanetaryTanner s exceptional CS. Let me find my post from early January where he straight hooked me up after a small error...

edit:
the image hosting site I used went down, but here's my first post on it

http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/herb-grinders.15/page-299#post-1067987

anyway yeah I've had it since early Jan, put maybe 2-3oz thru it so far, only cleaned it once... and that wasn't really necessary. I was somewhat just checking to see if the matte finish would flake or get fucked up, which it didn't. It doesn't collect a ton of kief, but since the screen is replaceable, and held with magnets, I see no reason why there couldn't be a "solid" screen, making it a 3pc+storage chamber where kief would normally sift into?

I've never had to clean my slx yet..

I've had to get replacement parts from SLX twice now, due to the coating coming off. This time they were good enough to tell me that can happen from unloading it by slamming it down on a surface, or clicking the teeth together to knock off excess herb. They are replacing it anyway:).

Also, they said if resin builds up, it probably means the herb had too much moisture so dry it out a bit before grinding.
