Decarbed and canned cannabis. Cannedabis?

Myself and a friend have been bouncing an idea around. It seems to make sense, but people in FC have been doing this for years, so maybe someone can let us know how it worked for them?

The idea is using mason jars for storage, How we do it is by filling the jar with the strain and then decarbing in the jar with the lid on loosely. At the end of decarb time we remove the jars from the stove, put the rest of the lid on, and here's where the interesting part is: It's decarbed and stored in vacuum.

Good idea? Bad idea? Modifiable into useful idea? Or totally useless idea, and try X instead?

Gracias peeps :)

What if you put the buds in the jars, then pressure canned them? or even waterbath? well sealed, they shouldn't hurt the weed...

We need one of those wonderful USDA people who answer those questions about canning.... home ed specialist? what temp does canning get to, how long for decarb?

I bet Green Goddess has it...

Right after I posted the Q I decided to try it out. I managed to get 150 grams into a mason jar. It took a lot of smuching with a muddler, but it fit. Then into the oven at 250 for an hour - longer than usual, but what the hey.

Left the lids on loosely to prevent pressure buildup. When the jars came out I cranked the lids down and put them on an outdoor table to cool (right around freezing). The lids are sucked down nicely, everything is in vacuum.

Jars are now in fridge, with some alcohol alongside, and tomorrow will be tinc day. Well, maybe not today, and maybe not tomorrow, but soon. Real soon.

Or a few weeks. The freezer can handle it ;)

K - opened the first jar yesterday, and that lid was well and truly attached. The old camping trick for removing bottle caps from stubby bottles came in handy, and now the jar is full of alcohol and decarbed herb and is sitting in the freezer. There wasn't much room for alcohol...
