Bedrocan product---your experience?? Canada?

Just watched a lengthy interview/discussion with a Bedrocan researcher, from their Netherlands operation. I see they also operate in Canada.
They appear to be very scientific, very thorough, very professional in growing and producing their product which seems fine to me UNTIL: they gamma radiate to make sure no nasty microbes etc.
Now I think gamma radiation is safe as far as not radiating humans BUT what about their end product "vapor signature".

He said it does not effect the cannabinoids and slightly effects the terps.
They have 10 THC/ CBD profiles to pick from.
How does it compare to top shelf, never radiated buds?

thanks for sharing your experience

But I like it!
Oddly enough Bedrocan was my first LP (for Licensed Provider. Pronounced El Pee). I had nothing to compare them to, as I hadn't touched herb since the 70s. It seemed OK, and I selected them due to their prominence in the Dutch med community. I left them when Bedrocan Canada was acquired by another LP, whose name escapes me. As for irradiation, well, it's controversial, many are against it, and I am, but only on general principle, and because I haven't looked into it at all. ;)

I have had Bedrocan products in the past. They were acquired by Tweed of Smith Falls Ontario. They've just raised there price to $6.75 gram about a month ago for all strains.

I was with Bedrocan but cancelled after my first 2 orders. Their products do medicate if you can stand the taste of cat piss or whatever kind of piss they use to flavor their bud. Seriously I didn't listen to the warning so I wasted months between getting in and getting out with Bedrocan.

Its all big pharma dirt thats the future of MJ the plant is bad dangerous ILLEGAL! But but if we can just make some pills with extracts it will be all good honest!

They are criminals where i live sick people are leaving for America for THC and its going to come down to either complete slavery or revolt. Think about how many traps there are when you are born, No land no way to provide food or shelter and no rights to treat yourself with medicine. Instead everything has to bee provided by the goverment or controlled by them so they can insert themselves into your anus, Sorry i mean daily life hehe.

How do you seperate the leech known as the Goverment from these rights?

In The Netherlands there's an patient organisation called "Stichting Patiënten Groep Medicinale Cannabis" (foundation patients group medicinal cannabis). They asked people in a survey about the quality of the Bedrocan products. 132 people responded. 80% of the respondents also use cannabis from other sources (coffeeshops, dealers, home grown). The best rated strain was "Bediol" (6 out of 10). Lots of patients are asking for more strains. There are also patients who are "forced" to their own medicine because the varieties of Bedrocan have the wrong THC/CHD ratio, wrong terpenes profile, etc. Source: http://pgmcg.nl/enquete-patiententevredenheid-medicinale-cannabis-in-nederland-bmc-bedrocan/

To answer your question a little bit @MinnBobber , there is some anecdotal evidence that radiating the buds reduces the quality of it. There are patients that prefer cannabis from other sources. Then again, it's anecdotal evidence. More research is necessary to get more answers.

Gamma radiation is a well known source of electromagnetic radiation (like visible light and much of the UV spectrum, especially UVC!) that has been demonstrated to cause faster oxidative decomposition of the more volatile compounds (mainly terpenes) found in cannabis. That is not anecdotal. That is demonstrable chemistry and physics.

The questions are how much exposure there was to the radiation and for how long as well as the chemotype of the plant - if we want to get an idea of what could be lost in the process of irradiation. Before and after labs have been done before confirming the above but I can't remember the study right now, maybe I'll drop by later if I get a moment to look it up :)

I would expect irradiated flowers to have lost some of the terp profile in the process, but remember that good flowers that lose a lot of terps due to environmental conditions like this can still be great, and better than low quality flower. YMMV.

@herbivore21 thanks for your explanation about gamma radiation. I tried to say that some patients think that radiating the buds reduces the quality of it, but now I see I made a "scientific claim". Thanks for correcting me!

If anyone is interested I started a thread on Gamma Irradiation over a year ago. I stopped using the LP (Redecan) due to this practice. Been with Tweed for a while, but now suffering actual withdrawals since binging on their 30% thc buds and switching to another source.

http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/gamma-irradiation-is-it-safe-for-your-medicine.19981/

Here is a snippet:

"Gamma irradiation is a controversial decontamination technique that has never been studied for safety in smoked or inhaled products anywhere in the world," CSA wrote in its letter. "Although it effectively destroys most bacteria, it does not destroy viruses or mycotoxins, and is often used to cover up biological contamination resulting from poor production, processing or handling practices. One of the bi-products of gamma irradiation is the production of Unique Radiolytic Products, which are a new class of chemicals resulting from irradiations that are not otherwise found in nature. Of significance in the gamma irradiation of whole plant cannabis is the potential production of cyclobutanones, which are toxic, carcinogenic chemicals that form when fats are subjected to gamma irradiation, and which have been directly linked to the development of colon cancer in rats. In addition, gamma irradiation has been shown to destroy terpenes like myrcene and linalool, which have known therapeutic properties and are found in high concentrations in some strains of whole-plant cannabis."
So much for "patient safety".

I have Bedrocan as one of my Lp's. As I've said in the other thread @biohacker pointed out I hadn't really noticed any negative effects from irradiation. That being said, I only like their namesake strain Bedrocan( jack herer) The other 4 ( previously 5) strains are mostly shit in my experience. Bad or no taste and mild effect. So, maybe these are negative effects on these strains? Or they are just shitty quality, period.

Bedrocan was my first LP. I switched when they were 'consolidated' a couple of years ago.

Try find an LP that is ethical and honest - which doesn't leave much choice when it's up to them to 'self-manage' themselves. OrganiGrams golf course lawn-flavoured organic herb is a great example.

MedReleaf, when asked what they use on their own product, responds with this link -

Registered Pesticides
The Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) maintains a database repository of registered pesticides that are approved for use on marijuana.

As of February 1, 2017, there are 13 registered pesticides approved by PMRA for use on cannabis (marijuana) that is produced commercially indoors. They are:

  • Actinovate SP
  • Agrotek Ascend Vaporized Sulphur
  • Bioprotec Caf
  • Bioprotec Plus
  • Botanigard 22 WP
  • Botanigard ES
  • Kopa Insecticidal Soap
  • MilStop Foliar Fungicide
  • Neudosan Commercial
  • Opal Insecticidal Soap
  • Rootshield(R) WP Biological Fungicide
  • Rootshield HC Biological Fungicide Wettable Powder
  • Vegol Crop Oil

deep in the matrix...
I'm with Bedrocan right now, no real issues. Price is decent for what you get in my opinion. I'm still on the fence with MariCann, kinda over-priced and dry but only one order so far.

Hey cheese those dna genetics and leafs by snoop boutique strains at 30%+ were so strong that after I ran out I went into withdrawal! Very nice products! Tweed is awesome when they have stock.

I've never received anything I didn't like from Tweed! Tilray is pretty awesome too but expensive, and I used RedeCan before but they gamma irradiate which is a deal breaker for me. Shame, they had some decent prices.

I can also order from CannaFarms which does have some very nice stuff. Unfortunately, they are kinda pricey as well. But what really irks me is their damn $17.50 shipping charge. Like wtf? But now that they are merging bedrocan, tweed and mettrum sites I'll only have to pay $4 shipping which is great!

I've read some decent reviews online about whistler on lift.co but I kinda always take those with a grain of salt. There seems to be a broad spectrum of experience in the users that review on sites like lift. Some people's version of quality is , um... questionable i guess? Lol. I'd much prefer input from a FC user, there are some excellent judges of quality in terms of medicine or devices to medicate with.

I agree, although i'm honestly boycotting LP's at this point and sticking with my fave MOM that doesn't charge for shipping over 220. Why pay double? :hmm:

agreed. I get about 90% of my meds the same way. I think the ACMPR is a failure. Decisions made by all the wrong people with zero experience with marijuana. Seems legalization is going the same route as well. A bunch of corporate and politician thugs making rules that favor their fucking bank accounts I imagine.

I've never grown before, but if it really is possible to grow 4 plants per household, I will learn, and stop buying my buds. Probably easier said than done though.
I grow all kinds of herbs, houseplants, vegetables, fruits and flowers. Growing cannabis has got to be the easiest plant ever to grow.

Read about it:

And away you go! Easy peasy.
