I have the exact same issue. Davinci told me to pm them and get a return started; I've just been lazy, enjoying my IQ and being careful to set it down gently :)

Huh. If it's an RMA-able issue I'm inclined to send it back and get a good one.

Smokers that don't like the Mighty? First time I've heard that!

Right? Three other guys in my band. I've taken the Mighty to practice a dozen times and with the exception of the very first time, they just don't want to hit it.

Then I bring the IQ and every one of them is all "hey, let me get another hit off that thing." They really like it and it didn't wear off after the first time.

Personally, I think it's the heat of the vape. You have to draw it harder than the Mighty and the heat makes it more like a smoking experience. I mean, that's the only rationale I can think of...

Is this the one to get? https://www.imrbatteries.com/lg-hg2-18650-3000mah-20a-flat-top-battery/ It's 3000mah vs 3500mah. Does that matter all that much. The 3500 that came w the IQ was 100% charged last night. This morning at 0%. Threw it in the trash. jezzz. Thanks for all of the help really appreciate it. BTW....the IMR batteries are half the price as amazon.
I prefer the LG MJ1 3500mAH 10 amp or the Samsung 35E 3500 mAH 10 amp, they both have equal specs as the Sanyo NCR that comes with the unit. The LG HG2 is a 20 amp battery which might not be recommended by Davinci and void your warranty, just keep that in mind.

So I had this idea about using the flavor chamber as a cooling chamber and would like to get the thoughts of the board. Obviously you can't put ice in the chamber it would block air flow and to try to chop up ice small enough would just be a pain in the ass. So I thought what would be small enough and re-usable. Facial Paks. You can freeze them, and you can heat them in the microwave. So they will take the extreme cold and take the extreme heat of the IQ. Now you say, Facial Mask pretty damn big. Not really. You see if you take one and cut it open they are filled with these very small round little balls that would fit very nice in the flavor chamber. So I'm in the process now of giving this a try. The balls lubed with some sort of lube so I'm letting them sit in some ISO to clean, after that I'm going to flatten them out and stick them in the freezer. They are so small they will probably freeze in about 10 mins or so. So I'm just looking to see what others think. Cobra505.

*The unit gets uncomfortably hot the longer it is on. Depending on the temperature it can become very uncomfortable to hold. I have owned an Ascent and a Pax2 previously and I don't believe they ever got so hot on the exterior.
Yes I have the same issue. I have just related it to the fact that it's metal, small and the higher the temp, yes it's going to get hot as hell. One thing I don't know how the get away with. Stealth. It's hard to be called a stealthy unit when you can hardly hold the unit because it's burning the hell out of your hand. I find that anything over 400 is when it getting to that point.

I've been searching for a silicone sleeve to fix that same issue.

hey guys quick question? Is it normal for the flavor chamber to really limit the airflow? I checked the Chamber & cleaned it real good but the flow with it & without it is a world of difference. Just don't thing it should be so much.

There is definately a difference in airflow, but the IQ wasn't designed to be used without the flavor chamber. I wouldn't use mine without it, I don't believe the air path is isolated from the rest of the inside of the vape.

It's an intersting idea, but I think those beads are saturated with water. So they will dry out and while doing so, in the flavor chamber, I'd be a little concerned about steam and being burnt.

What happened when you soaked them in ISO? Did they shrink/shrivel up, dissolve?

So why do you think then the airflow path is so restricted?
I don't find it that restrictive or difficult to puff on, even when using a honeycomb bubbler. The only things I can think that you might want to try to ease the air flow is to not pack your herb too tight. I personally just tamp it down enough to just keep it from falling out of the chamber if turned upside. Check the small holes on the lid to the flavor chamber are clear.

My vaping experiences have been with a Vapir One, Davinci Ascent, Pax2 and now the IQ.

If u take the flavor chamber out u can see how large the circular opening in the bottom is that leads to the oven. When the flavor chamber is inserted it fits into that hole so now the opening is reduced to the size of the little hole in the bottom of the chamber. U could use the IQ without it but all that vapor is gonna condense inside and make a mess

Edit- so I went and took a look after I replied and indeed I wouldn't recommend taking the chamber out. U see how that rubber gasket at the bottom of the mouth piece forms a seal with the top of the chamber, now imagine vapor escaping to coat all over ur pick and battery door bc there's a grove on the side between flavor chamber and the pick.

Fire it again. I can still find the ground.
The LG is rated at 20A continuous discharge (the Sanyo is 10A), so it will run cooler. It's capacity is 500mha less, so it has less life, but in real life usage i get the same amount of ovens out of it.
Carlos, you are the effing best.

I got my new LG H2 3000mah batteries from Amazon yesterday, and my Davinci IQ FINALLY works correctly. All the cutouts, low-battery indicator at weird times, the IQ itself almost too hot too touch after more than 5 minutes. All gone.

I can run two 5 minute sessions in a row on Precision Mode at 386F or so, stir the material and turn it on AGAIN to finish the last few hits and the IQ is "pretty warm", not "too hot to hold for more than the hit itself".

SmartPath mode (I like #2) runs without spiking the physical temperature of the IQ to "too hot to hold" within 5 minutes. Although I DO think the physical temp of the unit still seems markedly hotter than when using (even if higher temp in) PrecisionMode.

Since last night I have the device that I *thought* I was purchasing in the first place, and I am piss happy. Run 3 different strains, now running various mixes of the 3 to try and get customized effects, etc. All the stuff I had in mind for a week ago when I first received the unit.

Happy happy happy.

So, honestly not trying to be an arse - I REALLY hope it helps to get a battery change going with Davinci in their core units or something - I want to tag our very own @Davinci_vaporizer on this post. (Was very helpful with me on this battery issue by the way)

I will actually be buying another IQ as my backup/secondary here in another month or two (medical patient with chronic pain, can't worry over a possible warranty return and lose my straight-flower access).

Now that it works without any problems? 10/10, this thing is absolutely dynamite.

Davinci battery question. I'm charging the IQ batter to 100% but cannot get that to show of the IQ. Anyone else? The last DOT does not light up. I know it's picky but this device is expensive.

Also, I cannot get that batter to charge in the device. The batteries ONLY seems to charge onmy usb charger. Seems to be the case for the other 18650's I have purchased. They are 3000MAH vs 3500 MAH but I don't think that matters. I love the device but the batteries have really been a pain in the ass.

Also....
I added a 3000mah battery and it was 3/4 charge . Left over night in my truck. Next morning the battery was dead. Why? Got down to 45 degrees that night but still.. the device was "hidden" and not exposed to the cool weather.

Anyway, is anyone else having this issues? Thanks
Peace mb,

@Carlos8400 turned me on to the "LG H2 3000mah" batteries, and they fixed my battery issues. I had all the ones that you did.

If I charge the LGs in the external charger for their first charge, I don't have the problem with it not charging to full via the IQ's own USB later - at least not for a few days...

For instance, I only did that ONCE since I got the new batteries - just to see whether the problem went away.

I still won't be charging the batteries in anything except in the external charger. It has a USB connection as well, and so should hookup to a cig charger, etc. But personally?

Using or charging the IQ while it's hot (I did the latter) seems to be the common thread in the battery problems - at least this particular "flavor" of problem, if you dig me.

My second battery (I bought a spare with my initial order, as well as the external charger) took several days of using the IQ as the "primary charging station" as opposed to the external charger to start showing these problems. The first battery I had charged externally first as well but it always caused these symptoms, period. (Bad battery itself was the spare one)

I bought a 4-pack of the LG H2 3000mah batteries off of Amazon for $35. I got the little carry case and some things with my IQ points on davinci.com for having bought the IQ itself, and that case can easily fit an extra battery - maybe two. I can even fit the external charger in there stacked flat, mildly worried about scratching the IQ if I were to do it right this second, but a nice polishing cloth for eyeglasses between the two? I could carry the charger with 2 batteries AND still have the 1 in the IQ. (I just used a small cloth to test, yup that would work)

So I am going to go that route for "portable charging" - either taking an extra battery and/or packing the external charger to use in a cig lighter usb charger. I go out for fairly short periods, so I think just carrying an extra charged battery in the Davinci soft case is fine though.

Okay hope that help, mb!

:peace:

They actually expanded a little, about 1.5 times the original size. Got stoned last night and didn't get a chance to clean them off will finish today.

Not sure about them drying out and stuff, remember these things originally are meant to go into the freezer and or microwave oven etc, so they hold up to some pretty extreme temps up and down the scale thats why I picked them.

That's it those small holes, the damn things are so small there is nothing you can clean them with. I know it's the flavor chamber. I took it out and air flows fine. Put it back in without the cover to the flavor chamber same thing airflow is fine. The big center hole is clear, but you can't see anything through the smaller holes. I let the whole unit sit in ISO for about and hour still the same thing. Suckers going to be a bitch to clean.

Sorry if I am asking you to repeat something, I tried looking back a few pages but I'm not the sharpest... What is your bubbler setup for this? (Like what size and attachments)

Asking since I was going to try it through one of my two bubblers, and the bigger one is doing squat and I was hoping to try that. (My smaller one is for my Yocan Torch)

But then I would have to buy some adapters, etc. and didn't want to spend it if it didn't work, or could get over-sized and I won't be milking jack squat.

Thanks in advance!

Glad the batteries sorted out your issues! Like you i also noticed the battery gauge seems to run better with the LG ones, less up/down/up/down action...
When i use the IQ (which i haven't done since getting the mighty) i do 5 minutes on smart path 2, stir, 5 minutes or less on smart path 3, boost mode once to full temp to kill it off.
I think i can get 3 ovens with one battery doing that.

I have a question: how do you clean behind the ceramic oven? There is a silicone gasket between the flavor chamber and the oven, and I have some gunk there which I don't know how to clean. Any suggestions?

Also, is it bad to blow into this device to clean out the air path? Some vapes you can do that with (Pax) and some you can't (Mighty).

Thanks!

With all this battery talk I thought I'd interject my thoughts ... I wont use the ncr18650ga that came with my iq because: 1) the battery meter on the iq unit doesn't work properly when using this battery 2) it has rust forming on the positive end of the battery after a handful of uses 3) the battery life is better from the 2 ncr18650ga I bought off amazon. The batteries I bought off amazon are wrapped in a red wrap with the marking ncr18650ga stamped into the wrap so they look different than the battery that came with the iq ... maybe they're knockoffs but they work better than the original ... or maybe the original is the knockoff

Can someone point me to a link of the 10mm adapter for the nectar collector hummingbird . Davinci no longer has the complete set on their website. And can't find the adapter on nectars.

Or any small bubbler that works with a 10mm input . Ty for your help

I used a wood chopstick with a very fine square point, but i think a wood skewer or toothpick would work. If you do a couple circles pushing along the gasket gently all the black goop gets stuck to it and forms a nice little reclaim ball. When i still used the IQ i did it once a week or so.
Just make sure whatever you use isn't sharp and wont damage the gasket.

The closest I've come to be able to clean really good down there is to take one of the wipes and wrap it around the cleaning brush and insert it into the oven, you'd be surprised as to how much extra crap it gets out.

I ended up soaking a q tip with iso and jamming it past the silicone gasket opening. I was able to reach underneath it and did a few rotations. Got most of the gunk out that way. Cobra505, did you actually use the brush under the silicone gasket, or did you use it in the oven?

What's the general consensus on putting herb in the flavor chamber here? It sounded pretty gimmicky to me at first but I just had a thought. If you just put a couple nugs in the flavor chamber and keep them in there until you need to do a cleaning, that nug is probably going to be absolutely sticky and coated with resin from the vapor path when you take it out. Vaping that resin coated nug might be super potent who knows? :science:
So I actually tried this for about 5 days. Nice and sticky. If I had to say it was a much better high with all that smoke passing thru. On the downside. I posted earlier that I was having a problem with airflow. Now that I think of it thanks to another member there are a bunch of small holes on the cover. These holes are so small there is no way you can clean them except for just soaking it in ISO, So that's what I did, Problem gone. So I can see this as being a problem putting nugs in the flavor chamber & airflow problems and cleaning.

I am miffed that they don't sell the flavor chamber as a replaceable accessory - they sell replacement mouthpieces and the pearl.

As long as I had a couple chambers in queue, I'd be cool with swapping daily and dropping the used one in alcohol overnight.

I don't even like the buildup over the course of a day in there from having *no* extra nugs in the flavor chamber without cleaning it.

Peace!

Finally got a iq to try out a few days ago. I have to say flavor is really good , allot better than I had expected. So far I am liking it but I feel I may have to rma it. The problem I am having is the battery is draining on its own. I placed a brand new battery directly purchased from davinci in it Friday night , fully charged to 4.2v on a nitecore charger, did one session and went to use it The next day only to find it was almost completely drained and at 1 bar. I did notice when the unit is powered off I can hit the arrow down button and the lights on the buttons will Light up. Is anyone else experiencing something like this ?

I must say this is the best portable vaporizer at the moment, period. The temperature is so accurate and the effects, cloud density and flavor so noticeable on the different temperature settings. I just went from 174 C to 183 and seeing 30% bigger clouds and more toasty flavor. That is very impressive, and the changes in effects, flavor and clouds follow with the changes in temperature very closely. It buzzes just like the Flowermate V5.0 Mini Pro and other budget portables, but that is where similarities end.

Another really cool feature is this. After you boost it to maximum temperature at 221 c and take your hit, watch the temperature that starts dropping after you release the button. As long as the temperature is within vaping range (over 170 c) you can take draws and get vapor as the temperature is dropping in standby mode. That shows how accurate the temperature sensor (or whatever they use) is on this vape.
