Multi-brand Vivant Alternate

I have both, and I think the CF is also pretty tight as far as draw is concerned. It is much more convenient than the Air, though, with all its Fiddly little stems, on the go.

My question now is, do you have to hold in the fire button while you are vapiing or only when you turn it on?

Kind of interested in this, I have the air now, while I love the flavor, the vape is a bit too tight for me, looking for something looser. how does this compare to the Air? or the CFX?

Hello @Jah1975 my friend!

The Air is probably one of the most restrictive units I've used IMO.
The CF/CFX are much less restrictive than the Air but not by a whole lot.

You will love the air flow switch and having the ability to not only adjust the restriction (or lack of) but the same switch will also give you more or less conduction/convection.

Air flow switch wide open has almost no draw restriction and gives you more convection.
Air flow switch closed gives you more restriction and more conduction.

It is great to adjust it to be able to adjust exactly how you like the draw to be.

Vaping dry I keep the airflow switch 50-60% open and through water I have it open only about 80-90% for a bit of restriction for great taste and clouds.

IMO the Alternate is more efficient, tastier, and much easier to draw on than the Air/CF/CFX by a long shot.

My question now is, do you have to hold in the fire button while you are vapiing or only when you turn it on?

@OyVape The Alternate could not be easier to use. You do not need to hold any buttons.
Once you click the power button 5 times the unit turns on.

If you upgraded the firmware on their site which only takes a second, you can adjust the session timer.

TIMER:
With the unit powered on you can adjust the timer length 1-5 minutes (it remembers last set timer mode) you adjust your timer by holding the + and power button at the same time with the unit on for 3 seconds. It will display "timer" and you choose 1-5 minutes. After you set it wait for the display to power off and it's set.

BEEP/ALERT:
Once the Alternate reaches set temp it makes an audible beep that can be adjusted from quiet (1), to loud (5).
To adjust the beep volume you do the same as the timer but with the unit off.

Press and hold the up and power button for 3 seconds and you are in beep volume mode, adjust to desired setting, let the display turn off and it will remember that setting every time you use it.

When your ready vape use the +/- buttons to set your temp then just push and hold the power button for 3 seconds and the Alternate starts to heat up.

Once it reaches set temp it beeps, the front light turns from red to green and you are good to go my friend! No buttons to hold, just enjoy.

At any time during your session if you press and hold the power button for 3-5 seconds the unit will stop heating.

EXTENDING YOUR SESSION:
During your session if your not finished and you want to continue the timer (to however many minutes you chose) press and hold the +/- buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds and the timer resets without interrupting your session.

My apologies for the long post.
I hope this was helpful!:)

Can you microdose with it? For close to $100 it's a bargain but it looks so much like the boundless vapes which I didn't like that I'm not sure.

@little maggie Yes! You absolutely can micro dose with the Alternate.

The bowl is a bit smaller than boundless vapes but it is much more efficient.;)

The Alternate is nothing like Boundless vapes.

The Alternate is essentially a better version of the crafty with every upgrade you wish the crafty had.

The Alternate is VERY well made, VERY safe internally, and VERY tasty and smooth.:p

I highly recommend the Alternate. It is super inexpensive but well made and has been my daily driver since I received it.:)

The Alternate is an all around great vape and a great value!

Is there any word on extra mouthpieces for sale? Also, where do you go for the firmware upgrade?
\

@Just Justin Hello my friend!
All upgrades can be done through their website.
On the main page just click on "software" and it will take you to any available upgrades.
Here's a link:
https://vivant.com/pages/firmware

If there is a demand there will be many accessories for the Alternate.
Vivant is very present on this thread so the more people they see that want accessories, the more accessories will be available.
Just mention what you would like to see as accessories.

I'd like to see:
glass WPA
extra cooling chambers
extra colored mouth pieces
extra picks
dosing capsules
Maybe a glass mouthpiece

@little maggie you are correct! $110 from @PuffItUp!

A Magic Flight whip works to mate the mouth piece to a glass joint for water usage and it works well.
I will say the WPA works a whole lot better!:D

Moving freaking sucks.. :bang: this process has taken me like 2 weeks and I'm still not done, I know it could be worse but I just needed to hop on here and say the alternate has been saving my life these past couple of weeks.

I medicate at home 99 percent of the time. I use mainly desktops, my supreme v3 is my DD and my evo, logs and new vapolution 3 are pretty much my main vapes and take up most of my consumption. It's hard to find a vape that can supplement these desktops and honestly a lot of my VAS comes from trying to find one. I have found a few but they usually aren't dummy proof and easy to use like the alternate.

I have been using the alternate all day every day during this process and it has more than filled my needs, it has actually changed the way I vape, probably forever. I never used a "session" type unit before but after using the alternane I need it in my rotation.

The chamber size is perfect!! Honestly I don't like hoggish vapes which is a HUGE part of why I don't use other session portables I have owned and do own. It is more than capable of doing what I consider to be microdosing and that's just amazing. The flavor is out of this world and it actually retains flavor longer than pure convection vapes, even desktops. Simply put I love the alternate because it's just satisfying, it gets you what you need, fast and easy, and the vapor quality will impress even the biggest connasuers.

Just wanna take a chance to thank @Vivant for creating the perfect daily portable vaporizer for me. I really wasn't a guy to use a portable so much but this thing is just so easy and the vapor quality stands on its own. Then you look at the the fact that it has replaceable 18650s and the adjustable airflow and you realize that no other vape has these things and you realize how awesome the alternate is.

I am glad to see the buzz around this unit as it more than deserves it. If anyone has anyone questions or is on the fence for any reason about this vape please feel free to ask here or pm me. I have tried just about every portable on the market in the last year on my search for one that for my needs, if anyone wants me to compare any of them to the alternate for you please feel free to ask me via pm.

Hope everyone is having a great night,
Stay vaped :peace::leaf:

@Vivant I'd love to see a firmware update that gives you the user the option to completely turn off the beep so no noise is made.

@danald2000 That is actually already a factory option straight out of the box.

You can have the buzzer volume 1-5 or off.

There is a light on the front that is red while charging and turns green when it's up to temp!

Decided to pick up an Alternate from PIU today. For that price, with adjustable airflow and removeable battery.. How could I resist!? It being this affordable yet still offering accessories, and even some features that other vapes do not, really makes me think this product will be an excellent value. I could buy 2 or 3 Alternates for what I spent on some of my other portable vapes; great for an accident prone yet adventurous person like myself. Excited to see how the vapour production compares to my other vaporizers!

I don't know if this belongs in this thread but this is described as a session vape. I'm not sure what that is exactly.

For those in the know, when the airflow is shut as far as it will go can you still draw through the mouthpiece? I don't care to hit any vape in that way but I am curious about air leaks that dilute the hit and how well this sucker contains aroma.

I've been on a VAS bender of late and need to stop but this looks just tempting enough to get the dhgate version because my wallet hates me too much right now. I can't be the first person to ever receive an enano, omnivap and ff2 in the space of two days right? And then run a gauntlet with those three before buying a grasshopper?? I need intervention. Please start saying this thing sucks before I buy again.

Sorry- I'm a fellow addict. But given the ones that you bought maybe it might be worth checking how vapes from more expensive vapes compare with those that are less so. Right now you only have the omnivap.

@Vivant
Do you offer any capsules for hash or other concentrates?
and if not..

@Vape Dr.
Do you know if the concentrate capsules from any other vape would fit?

@vapelordnord The Alternate comes with:
1x concentrate pad.
2x extra coarse screens.
2x extra fine screens.
1x bag of Extra O-rings.
1x 4 piece grinder/fill tool just like the crafty/mighty but better, it's one piece instead of 2 seperate pieces and its magnetic.
1x cleaning brush.
1x USB charging cord.

@Chingas The air flow switch is awesome.
When fully closed it is very very hard to draw from.

When I vape dry I open it up (more convection = smoother draws).
When I use it through water I close it about 90% which helps milk up water pipes with ease (gives a bit more conduction).

When you close the mouthpiece the Alternate is air tight.
If you close the air flow switch it is pretty much air tight.
The Alternate is one of the least smelling vapes I have when not in use, or if you take a few draws and keep some for later.

To answer your question with the mouth piece and air flow switch closed there is little to no aroma at all.

Sorry- I'm a fellow addict. But given the ones that you bought maybe it might be worth checking how vapes from more expensive vapes compare with those that are less so. Right now you only have the omnivap.

@little maggie Just because a vape is more expensive than another vape doesn't necessarily mean it's a better vape.

The Alternate is proof positive of that.

I've had craftys, mightys, and Alternates.
If I was able to get any of the 3 for $110 (to keep and use, not to resell and profit) I personally would still take the Alternate.

I feel the crafty/mighty were good vapes but way over priced when released.
Both have issues.

The mighty is not pocket friendly and very expensive but has OK battery life and a digital display.

The crafty has beyond poor battery life, heat up time is very long, and it has a glitchy app you have to use to change temps (no digital display), non replaceable batteries, and a hefty price tag.

The Alternate heats up faster, battery life is better, has digital display, is pocket friendly, replaceable batteries, USB charging, constantly upgrading firmware for free on their site, taste is great, and it's 1/3 of the price, and has the same 2 year warranty. Even the packaging is top notch!

Oh yes, Vivant also has great customer service too (ever try and get a hold of S&B for a warranty repair)!?

Just my:2c:

Well, I have been vaping on a Mighty for over 2 years before exploding in an orgy of spending. My torch just arrived for the supreme v3 that awaits me tonight. Damn near scared to hit that one.

I use the airflow when it's closed quite a bit. You can still draw but it's a minimal amount of air compared to when it's open. It's nice for me because I have asthma and sometimes using less of my lung power to get a hit is a good thing. As @Vape Dr. Said, closing the airflow results in a bit more conduction and opening it results in a bit more convection.

It really is an awesome feature and when it's closed the device is odorless, I know that @Vape Dr. beat me to all of this but I will attest to the alternates lack of smell. The alternate is one of the least smelly portables I have used, for portable units that use conduction it forsure wins in the no smell category. Just close the adjustable airflow and fold in the mouthpiece and you have pretty much completely blocked off the airpath. It's awesome :)

Stay vaped :peace:

As I read this thread I find myself confused. Is it easy to use? Because between the firmware and different adjustments it seems pretty complex.

little maggie,

Shit Snacks

Milaana. Lana. LANA. LANAAAA! (TM2/TP80/BAK/FW9)
@Vape Dr. I believe @little maggie was encouraging him try this bc he had expensive vapes, and only the OmniVap on the lower end? Though Omni is high end for a VapCap too I dono lol might've been some typos there

Also Maggie, this is session bc it is constantly running and you just need to inhale, it's not on demand like Milaana or VapCap, but is a hybrid of conduction and convection leaning convection, like crafty/mighty but even more convection yet still slow to heat up like those so not instant either. So it is a session vape, you could turn it on let it get to temp take a few hits and turn it off, but since it's not as quick as an instant on demand vape with the way it heats it is still considered a session device, more automatic vs how on demand vapes tend to be more manual. So simple to use in the sense it is just load, turn on, inhale, more or less

The firmware upgrade is super easy and gives you the ability to extend the countdown timer, which is huge. The 60 seconds were not nearly enough for me. I'm liking 3 minutes.

Once you establish the settings you like, use is simple. And very effective.
