Boundless CFC

I don't see any oven ring. When mouth piece is slid on and the bowl empty the screen rattles. I read people complaining when emptying abv screen falls out.

I received mine yesterday. I noticed a loose screen at the bottom of the oven. In the video they don't show it. This screen is larger than the one in the mouth piece. I have contacted POV about this and will wait for their reply prior to using.
Are you sure it is bigger? I'm almost sure it is just a replacement mouthpiece screen (I think the Boundless guys confirmed this in one of their livestreams). They were identical in my unit. Take out the mouthpiece screen and compare. Save it for if/when you need another mouthpiece screen.

The CFC does not screw in. The mouth piece slides on top of the oven. I am sorry I don't know of the oven ring you are talking about.
The extra screen is larger. I read that someone could not fit it in. I guess it could be trimmed. Wish Boundless would have mentioned it in there video.

Any chance you can post a pic of your bowl? Is there a screen in the bottom of the bowl now, or is it just the grey/brown plastic bottom with the holes in it down there?

It's just a loose screen, I think it's just to keep material out of the heating element. I figure it'll get stuck down with resin eventually

Hey buddy you're in the CFC thread not the CFV thread.

Edit: my cfc came with the extra(?) screen in the oven as well

I just figured that out! I guess those edibles hit me harder than I thought!

to everyone, its confirmed its extra screen for mouthpeace

Where did you confirm this? I think it is bigger than the mouthpiece screen but it fits perfectly in the bottom of the oven.

Sounds like Sticks had a Sunday funday!!
You only missed it by a letter dude, happens to the best of us.

+1, my two screens are definitely different sizes.

The screen holes look like the same diameter as the air intake holes at the bottom of chamber as well.
Not sure how much "filtering" that bottom screen could do?

This is the reply I received from Jerry at POV.

I opened up a unit the other day and was surprised by that little screen as well! It fits perfectly in the bottom of the oven, but I've been using my unit without it. It's up to you if you want to use it in the bottom of the oven or not, but it can't hurt when it comes to keeping the internals clean. They have already been improving the plastic, so you may be fine. But if you're not we have you covered with it's great warranty

Hey Guys.

Long time lurker, first time poster.

I received my CFC yesterday and at first I loved it. However, at this point, it seems to be stuck in charging mode. The charging indicator keeps rolling through no matter what I do. I've 5 clicked the button, held every combination of buttons and tried to turn it on to let the battery drain, but no dice. It will start heating up and then crash back to the charging display. Is there a way to hard reset these things or do I have to painfully wait for the LED to kill the battery? If so, that is not going to boost my confidence about relying on this guy as my only travel piece.

Thanks for your time,

Chris

I am curious, is there anyone out in FC land who is still awaiting delivery of their "free" CFC from the CFV pre-order or am I the last?

How does this one compare to the other Boundless models?
I have the CFV and don't think the CFC measures up. I find it very inefficient compared to the CFV and it's a lot harsher. And personally I can't get a decent hit unless the temperature is near the top level. Maybe I'm not using the correct technique.

Well you have picked the best and worst in terms of efficiency there. The CFV being convection you should get no waste, and the CFC being a conduction with no way to remove the load easily it will keep cooking.

For what it is the CFC is a very good little unit, its not going to win best vape against the other Boundless vapes but it isn't supposed to. It fills a market of being very well priced and very small/stealthy.

I finally received my CFC on Friday.

I am reserving judgement until more testing.

One thing I will say, I have NEVER seen an instruction booklet say so little in so many pages. There isn't even an explanation of the various parts of the CFC and their use (e.g. the red light?)???

No extra screens in the box?

Here in NYC, where good product is at a premium, if you don't have unlimited funds and want to vape you've got to use something that doesn't eat it. I'm basing my comparison on my old Pax 1 which is still usable and conduction based. It seemed to be a fair amount more efficient than the CFC especially with the screen trick. But I do hear what you're saying and for some people the CFC might be fine. It certainly heats up fast, and seems pretty sturdy and stealthy and more useful if you're the type to vape the bowl in one session.

All in all, the CFC is a nice little vape.

However, I believe that Boundless must produce a mouthpiece cover to protect the lips of anyone looking to take more than a few hits.

They need a new mp. After about 15 uses the mp starts to crack. Great vape untill you have to tape the mp to use it. A couple weeks I heard untill new ones are going to be available .

Can you micro load the CFC? Maybe that would help you. What about that mouthpiece. Being over the oven I'm sure it gets hot. How is it secured? Is it magnetic?

From what I can see the mp looks like it's plastic. I would think the more you use it the heat from the chamber must weaken the plastic.

Actually it doesn't, really. Not as much as many others. The MP is really a rubber piece that seals the top of the ceramic bowl, has a screen at the bottom and extends up to the top part of the MP cover you see. There's a large air gap under the cover.

It's retained by friction fit in the oven and also in the tube that is the inner wall of the cap. The rubber piece has a ridge around it to ensure proper placement.

The body of the vape just below the MP (outside the oven) gets MUCH hotter, actually.

From what I can see the mp looks like it's plastic. I would think the more you use it the heat from the chamber must weaken the plastic.

Not if it's the right kind of plastic, there are some quite suitable for this temperature range. Like what's used in the Iolites. And here, the MP is not the hottest plastic, that would be the body below the MP and above the inlet vents. Without actually measuring it I'd say Iolite gets hotter than CFC at their hottest point.

It might turn out to have some defect of design or construction that leads to a common early failure, but I can't see where that might be. And even if that is identified I'd have to consider this is a sub $90 vape that does an excellent job in it's niche. A few hundred sessions might not be that bad a deal, but I suspect it's going to be thousands, not hundreds, to wear one out?

For 3 years, such failures are not a big risk given the warranty?
