Thanks @Vivant I am happy to know I will be able to turn down/off the beep. I don't even really want vibrate, the red/green light on the front and the dislpay on the bottom works great for me.
I'm guessing I need to do the firmware update in order to do it because I tried (a lot) and couldn't get anything. I tried other button combos and got the stealth mode and lock option but no buzzer mode.
Thanks.

You do not need the new firmware to control the beeper volume. Page 14 of the manual:

"Buzzer adjustment: In power-off state, long press the fire button and up button to enter buzzer adjustment interface. Press two regulatory buttons to adjust buzzer volume from 1 to 5. You may press the fire button to confirm after adjustment. You may switch to silent mode by pressing the down button when the volume is 1."

Ok so I have had my alternate for a while now and I have been very busy with moving into a new place so I am just now getting around to post. I have used this thing a ton and It is probably the best session/oven style vape I have owned. I want to take a chance to say thank you to Josh, Emily, and Scott at Vivant for the review unit. This thing has seen so much use lately with me moving and not having my normal home plug in situation. Honestly I thought I would love this vape for a portable that I could let non vapers hit because it's simple but now it's become part of my daily rotation.

This thing tastes amazing and feels like a solid unit, at least compared to other plastic vapes I've used, including the mighty and crafty.. like I don't think they feel any better than this unit in the hand. The unit never smelled at all, just a bit of "new" smell around the bowl that went away with one use. I ran burn offs that seemed useless because there was no offgassing of any kind or any smell. The vape just looks and feels right and now with the firmware update it works perfectly. The adjustable airflow is awesome! It helps me get enjoyable sessions dry which is hard for me because I am asthmatic. The unit tastes amazing and retains its flavor throughout a session.

Even on the highest temps I don't experience the flavor dropping off as fast as units like the cfx or even the Cfv.. I know that's pure convection but this thing just tastes great.. it's also super conservative, the chamber doesn't hold that much, maybe .3 if you really pack it but it works really good with less in there. If you look at my sig you can see that I like mostly on demand vapes that can micro dose well so this vape is not regular for my use at all.

That being said I really do love it and struggle to find downsides. The heatup time isn't great but also not that bad. Honestly that's like one thing I can think of but at the same time the unit is so easy to use having a hybrid heating system so that's just part of the deal. The battery life is also really good. I've been getting like 4 chambers at least per battery; it seems like hg2s last a bit longer than the included vtc4 but the vtc4 is still fine, maybe you will get 4 or 5 even depending on how you vape, I run pretty high temps lol.

If anyone is curious, for now until a WPA is released, MFLB tubing works well and goes right around the mouthpiece. I plan on uploading a video of me running microloads at low and high temps and it's a better video when you can see the vapor, I will probably just use my orbiter.

Anyways if anyone is on the fence about this unit I fully recommend it and give the company my full support. Vivant has been nothing but great and they really show that they wanna make a product that the community wants, and they are willing to take feedback and implement changes, which is just awesome. The price of the unit is also simply amazing for what you get.. there isn't really much like it on the market, I mean yeah there's the crafty/mighty at a WAY higher in price and the cf/x which is much more of a conduction vape IMHO. The replaceable 18650s and the to the degree temp control make this thing super dope considering it vapes kinda like a crafty with a smaller bowl and maybe a little more convection going on.. that's what I think based on the flavor and my experience with the crafty. And the crafty costs a lot more.. the Alternane really sets it'self apart from vapes like that for me though because of the smaller bowl and the flavor. It seems like a mix with more convection.

I am not trying to bash any other vape I am just kinda trying to convey that I have tried all of those trying to find a session portable I liked and they all ended up not seeing use or falling short of expectations. The alternate has seen daily use since I got it and I do not see that changing any time soon. It handles a small to medium sized bowl so well and tastes great. It's easy to use and the replaceable battery makes it a super portable device. The adjustable airflow is just amazing and I do not see why like every vape doesn't do that lol.

Anyways I think this vape is a step in a right direction for this industry and I'm happy to see the presence from @Vivant on this forum. Thank you once again for the review unit guys! I plan on posting some videos and a full review soon. If anyone has any questions about how I feel about this unit compared to others please feel free to pm me. I am not being paid by Vivant, i did receive a free review unit early on but I am just giving you guys my honest feed back.

Before this I used my fenix for an out and about potable and loved it, but this device really offers so much more than a vape like that. I think it's easily something that should be considered when looking st the other options we have in the market right now, even up to a much higher price.

I hope everyone is having a great evening.
Peace :peace:
Stay vaped :leaf:

Thank you for posting the instructions from the manual, it pretty much says the same thing Vivant told me to do and I tried it again, many times, and still nothing. I am pressing the "fire" button (power button) and the + button at the same time from 10 seconds to at least a minute and nothing. I have tried it with the readout dislpay blank and with it displaying temp but not heating up. I can switch to stealth mode no problem and lock mode but I can't get it to buzzer mode. So I don't know if I am doing something wrong or if I have a unit that the buzzer cant be adjusted.

You have to make sure that the unit is OFF by quickly pressing the power button five times before doing the power and + thing.

Cool it worked. That was the first I have heard about the five press to power off, I was just holding the button for three seconds to power on/off. Thanks a million.

Just saw a review by Toronto Vaporizer slamming it for very bad plastic taste and completely unsafe battery function....seems to contradict what I've been reading here. They say the Utillian 720 (Fenix rebrand?) is better.?!?....and promoting "Zeus" products ....what gives? Sounds like they got a bad unit?

Nope they are the ones who rebrand the $45 fenix into the like $200 utillian 720 so they bash a ton of vapes to try and make that and their "zues smite" models which are just flowermate rebrands.. look better. Honestly that site is legit, got a vapman there for really cheap a couple 4/20s back but the company behind it that does the reviews and makes the vapes is a joke..

It looks like there is a lot of conduction in this vape, vapor doesn't comes out similarly to a full convection vape.....oh yes I forgotten that's an hybrid vape!

It's funny, because they were talking all sorts of nice on /r/vaporents. It looks like they couldn't get the Canadian exclusive to this vape. Toronto Vaporizer probably got pissed when they couldn't get the manufacturer to re-brand. Toronto Vaporizer, they're only good for price matching, and nothing else. I feel bad for the suckers that got ripped off with the Utilian720.

I'm waiting for mine to come in from DHgate.

But based on what i'm seeing from Vivant's ability to implement changes............. i might pick up one that has the warranty from the shops here so i don't have to wait so bloody long.

If speed is an issue then you should consider buying from Puffitup (a sponsor of FC).

You will have the Alternate quickly and the Puffitup team if the vape has any problems.

Hi @Vivant , is it normal that I can't see spare batteries on the website, or retailers who are stocking this don't seem to carry its batteries just yet?
Maybe I should buy random spare batteries locally, or I could pick something like Haze batteries from a vendor when I buy?
Thanks!

Nothing as of now, but you aren't the first person to ask so we have some things were are kicking around. Anything specific you had in mind?
Just like they sell replacement cooling units for the mighty/crafty and replacement mouthpieces for the Boundless pieces. Just nice to have replacement parts in case of accidental breaking of parts. Or it m ight be easy to just swap out topcaps while cleaning the other set.... etc....

But yes. WOW for sure PLEASE!!!!!

The battery should be under the "Shop" tab, but you are right it is not there at the moment. We will fix this issue soon. As far as getting one from your local shop, as long as its a high discharge 18650 30 amp battery your should be good.

It's cheaper to buy spare batteries from third parties. I believe the included unit is a Sony VCT4, so you could pick some extras up from an online or brick and mortar ecig store. Be careful though there are lots of fake 18650 batteries out in the wild, so please only buy from a reputable vendor... Like imr batteries.

Kind of interested in this, I have the air now, while I love the flavor, the vape is a bit too tight for me, looking for something looser. how does this compare to the Air? or the CFX?

Hello all!

Here is a quick rundown of how I made the Alternate all glass WPA.

First I got a 14mm glass adapter that was 2" long, this is what I want to use as a WPA.

I took the cooling unit apart and ground off the half ledge the chamber screen sits on.

Then on the other side of the cooling chamber I got pliers and broke the little piece that goes across the path of the chamber.

I did this so I could drill straight through without having to worry about the drill bit catching and moving the drill bit off center.

I then put the 2 cooling chamber pieces together. I found out a happy coincidence.
The circle on the top of the CC with the V in it is dead center over top of the oven.

I drilled a small pilot hole straight through the cooling chamber then used a 13/32" drill bit and made a large hole all the way through the cooling chamber.

The hole was drilled slightly smaller on purpose, I want the glass joint to fit as tight as possible.
I don't want it to fall out or stick into the female glass joint.

So with a little bit of light sanding I was able to make the glass fit VERY securely as well as make it look much cleaner.
Here is an inside pic of the cooling chamber first the second pic is the outside with the 14mm joint I'm using.

After a good cleaning.

Here is the position I chose to put the joint in the chamber. It can be moved out or in but this seems to be the ideal spot.

Top.

Side.

Installed.

Super secure.

The WPA works fantastic! I used the blue cooling unit because it was a beta unit. The blue beta units have been upgraded internally and externally from the latest production black units.

Now that I know how easy it is I will make a matching black WPA. I wish I had a drill press!:)

Here are a couple videos for you all through a matrix and a peyote pillar at 365F. I am not a cloud chaser but the clouds are fantastic at low temps, but if you put this at 380F-390F.....WOW!

Enjoy!
