Due to my own lack of technical knowledge, based on your photos this does have an isolated air path? That is to say, the air comes in from the side port air flow switch, directly into the metal tube. Or am I wrong?

And would you say the air/vapor path is plastic, metal, ceramic oven, plastic mouthpiece? Just trying to get a better understanding, so all insight and information is helpful.

@Lookatmeglow Here are some pics of how the air intake works.
It is a 100% isolated air path that goes through the switch on the front directly into the bottom of the SS chamber path.

When the bottom chamber hole is mated up to the airflow switch there is a slot that "locks" them together.
Here is a pic from the front.

Here is a pic from the back (without the heater shroud so you can see better).

Here is a pic that shows you how the two mate together.

As you can see, the only plastic in the airway is from the airflow switch and about an 1/8" channel to funnel the air into the chamber. so the plastic in the air intake is extremely minimal and just to focus the air directly into the chamber.

The Entire chamber/heater assembly is stainless steel and feels VERY stout!

I am very impressed and extremely happy from what I see on the inside of the Alternate.

The Alternate is indeed a SAFE vaporizer with the battery and electronics completely separated from the air path.

@Vivant ....Ha! Can't remember?! Are you kiddin'?!

I've got a mind like a steel....like a steel...like a steel.... BARE!....bare, bare, bare....like a BARE NAKED LADY!

On a more serious note....what's all of that whipped cream looking stuff pasted here and there in the unit?

Is it glue? Is it safe?

Is that a circuit protector on the end of the batt?

Here are some pics of......THE ALTERNATE DISASSEMBLED!

Wondering what's under the hood?

Back side of the airflow switch.

Inside.

The screwdriver is pointing at the air intake port for the oven.

Chamber. Very nice air flow.

Circuit board.

The battery is obviously isolated but as you can see the air comes in directly through the side of the Alternate through the adjustable air flow switch directly into the bottom tube of the chamber.

Very nice.
Very clean and simple inside.
Well done @Vivant well done!

@Vape Dr. ....you are amazing! I too want to thank you for all the time and insight you share with all of us noobs here at FC!

@Lookatmeglow You are very welcome!

I agree completely!

I am an advocate of "SAFE" vaporizers.

I was waiting for @PuffItUp to do their breakdown but figured I would go ahead and do it myself until Randy got some free time to do his so all could see the internals and that it is a safe vaporizer and now I also know it was very well built.

The Alternate being @Vivants first vaporizer, I look forward to see some incredible things coming from Vivant in the future!

Thank you so much @Vivant for not only coming out with a stellar safe vaporizer, but also for releasing it at such a reasonable price.

This is so nice to see in this industry!
Especially with all the free upgrades being implemented from user feedback from our great community!

@Fat Freddy The white stuff on all the soldier points is a thermal paste. It has no smell to it and is completely separated from the air path.

The red battery wire is soldiered directly to circuit on the board which I would assume is a circuit protector. There is a lot of technology stuffed in the little circuit board.

As for a suggestions:

I to want to be able to adjust the temps while the unit is heated. I do believe this is being addressed as we speak and should be available soon.

I would also like to see a heptic feedback sensor if possible.

The beeping is fine and works great but not in loud places.
I would like to be able to turn on the Alternate, put it in my pocket and I'll feel the unit vibrate no matter how noisy it is.

It would be nice to have both so you can have it beep and vibrate (possibly from a light vibration to a heavy vibration like the buzzer volume) but if I had to choose one I personally would choose a vibration alert over the buzzer.

I am also on board for an easy load system like the dosing capsules.

***EDIT IN***

The combination grinder/filling chamber is pretty sweet. Much nicer and ergonomic than Storz and Bickels 2 piece design.

That being said, I would love to see a dube tube included with the Alternate as that is my go to way of filling all my vapes because it is just so dam easy and convenient!

@Xelatsok the Alternate is a hybrid using conduction and convection with the same heater.

The heater heats up to set temp. The heater is the long stainless steel cylinder in the center of the pic above the screwdriver.

The stainless steel heater heats to temp providing conduction.

Air also comes in through the front and into the bottom of the stainless steel tube (where the screwdriver is pointed) and fresh air comes up through the center of the heater and out of the holes in the bottom of the chamber as seen below.

This fresh air provides convection making it a convection/conduction hybrid.

This is the same heating set up as the crafty/mighty but with the Alternate you can actually get more convection by opening the air flow switch wide open.

Also as you can see, the Alternate does not use any kapton tape to hold the heater shroud together which is fantastic.

I love the air flow switch!:)

You don't have to wait the full 5 minutes.

You can hold in the power button for a few seconds to stop the timer. Bump up the temp and then hold the power button again to reheat.

Not a terrible inconvenience but it can be done.

I guess it would be best go stay with the 1min or 2min timer. Then change after the cutoff.

Cheers!
Not a terrible inconvenience at all. Thanks for that tip.

Hey Guys, How are you all doing today? Just want to ask some feedback from the individuals that have updated their firmware and how you guys are enjoying the ability to set your own safety timer preference?

Hope everyone has an amazing day!

@Vape Dr. Which 18650 batteries do you use in your Alternate? The stock ones? Any thoughts on using an LG HG2 with the Alternate?

Hello @AAndroid my friend! I have tried every battery out there with the Alternate and IMPO the LG HG2 works the best!

Also the Alternate does NOT off gas at all. The Alternate also goes through an ultra sonic cleaning process.

I tried doing burn offs 3 separate Alternates and as hard as I tried I could not even get a wisp of off gas.

The Alternate is absolutely a very safe vaporizer and works and tastes fantastic.

I would not hesitate to recommend the Alternate.

@blackstone Here is a pic of the ceramic heating rod and the heater chamber.

As you can see the ceramic rod goes the length of the heater and is completely encased. The air flow comes up through the bottom and along side of the steel tube.

The ceramic heating element is completely out of the air path.

That photo really clears it up for me, thanks for all your hard work with this unit!
I might make contact with @Vivant or maybe @VapoShop shortly to try and get an Alternate for myself.
