Discontinued The Grasshopper

The best is when there's a seed in the bowl and it explodes, just like back in smoking days.
But yeah, the fact you can hear the GH work is pretty impressive.

I haven't even seen a seed in years! Yeah it's weird, it's like I get all my senses heightened...I can hear the GH clicking, occasionally my herb snap crackle popping, I can see the oils floating on top of the water in my glass piece lol This GH and these meds are really something else! lol

I agree completely, these are the only vapes I have heard that crackling. I actually heard the crackling with my SS Grasshopper today. I always get a really good hit when I hear the crackle.

Snap crackle pop... nice ABV (Rice Krispies)? Pay no attention to me, I'm way too Hopped right now, it's been a glorious day!

Oh man it's so nice that you can relate!!! I was thinking that everyone else thought I was even more nuts than I already am! Even more so that we have isolated this incredible phenomena to two vapes... I think perhaps but foggy memory recall the vriptech heat want causing this effect from time to time, but I also think it's extremely grind dependent, with it being less prominent on finer grinds? Does that jive with your experience, or is it just completely random? It's pretty frequent with my GH, so imma gunna see if I can replicate it for video. I think it sounds like a crackle from a campfire!

If you had money you would be mad not to get the Ti herbo though bro!

After I pick up the Supreme v3 (again) the Herborizer Ti is next on my list for a connoisseur level desktop after I fully test the EVO and hydrabomb kit! The only problem is I dread the glass like crazy...i've been known to be a klutz! Fortunately the GH is a beast that can take a licking! (and I stick to cheap china glass)

Two comments;
I have heard the snap, the crackle and the pop and my mind went immediately to the cereal box. It's not often, with the material I have, but I have heard it in the Hopper (not ever from Mighty or Pax2). I am especially tickled by this, having been born in Battle Creek, Michigan, the home of Rice Krispies. Yes, crackle from the campfire; it's about moisture and resins.

I unfortunately see seeds all the time in the bricked weed I have access to. I also have access to something generic and unnamed that I call 'high test', kinda like a Blue Dream. I make a salad of them. I'm cleaning seeds and stems a lot but it's also easy to miss one. The really nice thing is they don't seem to vaporize at all. They come out the same color as they went in (in all my vapes). I hope to never have one pop like @MoltenTiger mentioned!

wow.. hy oh my.. so many useful info and more pages in GH community and the clan is growing bigger and bigger indeed.. it's good to see people posting that they received their hopper in less than a month..despite the fact that you were waiting for almost a year :lol: at the end of the day it's for everyone's good shake to see HL getting more reliable in delivering the product at one point and making it more stable and trustworthy to last on the other.. the latest needs a bit more work but I think that they're getting there eventually.. there has definitely been a lot of progress!!
Btw, while me dropping in to say hi, it's my 1st month after my 1st RMA, which was actually claimed in less than 15 days from owning my Ti Purple GH. Main body was replaced and everything has been working like a charm since then.. Today I received my pinnacle pro hydro tube... REALLY NICELY BONDING with the hopper.. makes your hit almost "invincible" even at T5.. I'll come back with more feedback as I've barely finished a full bowl with it yet.. it certainly looks cool though. You lose on stealthiness, but when at a friend's place or even for using it in the bathroom is more than ideal I reckon..
Speaking of stealthiness and having read @Hogni your post with your hospital experience, I must say that I'm a bit of a "ruthless" vaper when it comes with public. Most of the times when I'm out and about I carry my hopper with me and whenever I feel like vaping and I'm not in a "closed" area I will take my hopper out and vape. The other day, like 2-3 days ago, I was with me mates down my local pub, which is a smoke-free place where you can find some proper real ale. Not to mention that it's one of the few places in Athens that it's keeping the non-smoking policy that has been voted in my country since almost 200 years ago and it keeps changing from times to times only for political consumption. #/off-story-info-mode-off
It's a place that I've been going there for almost 4 years, even when I was smoking cigarettes, so the owner and the staff there know me quite well..

That night we were seating at the bar and my friends were outside for a smoke when one of the guys working there comes to my place talking to the other staff-guy behind the bar and me saying: "wow dude, the entrance smells fucking weed like hell, whoever is doing it he's over-doing it..." and the other guy behind the bar continues:"yeah man.. and it's pure..the guy vapes it!!" ----- At that point my GH was resting next to my hand without anyone having noticed it or me vaping.. of course I didn't say a word, I was looking at them and the only thing that I could do is try and look surprised in some way... :rofl:I hope they were not implying that this guy could have been me, I don't think so.. but in any case, I got over-friendly with it that night and it's a fact that I had 0ver-vaped it considering that it's a smoke-free place as well.. :o but in any case no one else seemed to care or so...

Least but not last, I had a nightmare related to my hopper last week, in which I dreamt of my hopper pouring water like a fucking vase from the inside.. LOL it was one of those instant ones that you can get when even half falling asleep.. I was watching the tele while vaping my 2nd bowl in a row and i kinda threw my head on the side and had that awful nightmare, woke up with my heart beats significantly increased.. only to find my hopper by my hand... :ninja::freak::zzz:

Regarding batteries and all that, I think that the D4 does the job pretty well.. it does leave you a -0.2 after you pull the battery out but still, since it only goes down to 3.7c (@Baron23 symbol for mAh ;) ) probably this 0.2c is calculated somewhere in there..
@biohacker I've seen the "vapour" from the side as well.. it happens when it first starts to roast kinda..

I have also heard the crackling... but I always thought this crackling have to do with small not developed seeds in the herb...
maybe that is why you do not hear that crackling when you fine grind because you also fine frind the small undeveloped seeds...

Hey guys! New to the hopper here. I know this varies but how many hits do you get out of your GH from one bowl and at what temps? I still need to do some experimenting but I'm used to the session vape, the Xmax and my AVB would come out evenly and a solid dark brown. Not so with my hopper. I probably need to hit it more...maybe till there's no more vapor.

I know I need to do some more experimenting but wondering what others experience with the GH has been.

I have experienced when only loading a small amount (pinch) in my gh my abv is much lighter... when I fill my gh loosely up to the rim my abv is much darker....

Almost there...
A few more days with the Hopper and some helpful tips from my buddy @biohacker and the Hopper feels turbocharged!!
Using just a pinch, maybe 0,05g or less, and slowing down my draw produces super thick and dense vapor! Very similar to my other top tier vapes i own.
Still struggling to achieve that perfectly even ABV though, it is usually a mottled color ranging from medium brown to light tan.

I also get the cracking sometimes and my herb does not have nay seeds, developed or undeveloped in it.
It reminds me of the crackling i used to get with the E-Nano at times, may have to do with the volume of heat passing through the material and drying it out rapidly.

For my use i think it is an awesome quick hit vape that i can use as a portable or desktop unit, whatever i desire at that moment in time.
I do find that i can achieve easier, faster and more efficient vaporization of my herb with my other vapes but they all require a 10 minute + heat up time.

@Ineedmedicine Slow your draw down a bit more and you will be amazed!

EDIT: Removed @btka from the main thread!

Typically, a Grasshopper needs to be registered to an owner before it can be repaired.

That involves using a code that is on the box plus the serial number that is on the end on the Hopper. It is done on their website, and so is the whole claim process. https://www.grasshoppervape.com/

If the code from box is not available, I believe you (or the owner) need to contact Hopper Labs to work something out. email is support@grasshoppervape.com

Depending on where in the world your friend and the Hopper are, there may be an option to return to the seller? in London? There are, I think, one or two retailers who will do 'service'.

Much thanks!

I do draw slow... I have absolutly no problems with abv or gh... I only replied to ineedmedìcine and his question...
and when I am not filling up my gh the abv is lighter in color then when I fill it up... you can also see the part of the herb near the heater is darker... I would say if you do not fill it up the herb tumbles flies around when drawing... this doès not mean that the lighter abv is not as much extracted then the darker... but I also discoverd when collecting the lighter abv and then filling my gh up,with it loosely up to the rim I get some extra clouds...

you will not see this undeveloped seeds they are really really tiny... but if your bud is not dense but fluffy it could be an indication of small undeveloped seeds... at the end of the circle (last one or two weeks) some herb hermies (that is normal)
and they develope real real tiny seeds.. maybe you should try to find the nanners aka bananas at the end of the cycle but do not panic they do no real harm... you only will get small undeveloped seeds which will crackel... but maybe the crackle you mean is a different then mine... but as you stated that you some times do not hear the cracking this could be because the herb does not have small tiny undeveloped seeds and therefore no cracking.. this is also be the reason in ky opinion you do kot hear cracking when fine grind because younalso grind the small seeds...

Snap, crackle, fuck him - George Carlin 2:40 - YTubeVid

When I was growing up there were these urban legends about how seeds in a spliff could cause brain aneurysms, every time a seed popped I twinged. So stupid now I look back on it but I used to be extremely vigilant at removing all seeds from my plant matter. Now I just don't care, it feels like my hopper can tear through anything :D

On side note: I haven't removed the back end on my hopper now for around about 9-10 weeks. No cleaning or battery swapping, I just leave it on the OEM charger all the time. No hot backends, no weird flashing lights and no cop lights. It hasn't seen quite as much use recently as I've been trying out other vapes but it still is used at least once a day. I'm still :luv: it.

You might be on to something. I usually use a medium grind, but when I do use a fine grind I don't notice the crackling as much if at all.

It seems to be dependent on the moisture level of your material as well. I might have to do some experiments with my hygrometer and see if this is true.

My theory is that the sound is small amounts of water in your material boiling nearly instantly. Think of it almost like a thermal shock, room temperature cannabis gets hit with a sudden blast of heat, boiling off any residual moisture. With a finer grind you have smaller particles of material, which probably don't have enough moisture to be audible if that makes sense. Larger particles will have a proportionally larger quantity of water/moisture. This is just a theory, and a very uneducated one at that.

Another question is why it's only noticeable with a couple of vaporizers. I think that is due to two factors. The first would be chamber size. Both the Grasshopper and E-Nano have narrow chambers and heaters. This produces a narrow, concentrated stream of hot air to extract the vapor.

The second factor would be the sheer speed of the extraction with the hopper and nano. In my experience both of these vaporizers use "brute force" to extract your vapor very quickly. They hit your material with a sudden blast of concentrated heat, which produces vapor nearly instantly. This is easiest to see when using water. I don't use water a lot, but these two vaporizers milk up my glass quicker than any other, excluding the VapCap.

So why doesn't the VapCap crackle? It has a similar chamber size, but your material gets heated more gradually and never receives the thermal shock. I'm curious if other log vapes make the crackle sound, or if it's just the E-Nano.

Regarding your query about why the VapCap doesn't crackle, I think it's because you are directly heating up the chamber which in turn is heating up the material. Where as the hopper heats the air up and then the air is pulled through the material. So in the VapCap the material is heating up slowly (in relative terms) where as the hoppers material is instantly vaporised by the hot air.

"brute force"

Ha I instantly read that like an advert for the latest razor blades, "Get your Hopper now with the latest 'BRUTE FORCE' technology", it will punch your brain cells into another world! *warning, may cause opinions, lethargy, munchies, erecti...*"

is it possible that you do not hear it crackling using vapecap because your lighter is to loud (crackling will occure while heating up and the vapcap is not as near in your face...)

and it does not crackle with all you herb because not all your herb is lightly seeded...
I am out no m7re crackling speculation from me....

Here's a long post. It'll be rambly, but maybe it'll help someone. Or at least be interesting reading, as I write and use the grasshopper.

So I've owned my Grasshopper for somewhere around 4 or 5 months now. I've used it quite a lot. A few weeks after I got it it became my daily driver, because the VapCap, although great when heated right, was something I struggled with between sometimes shaky hands and no vision. When these Vapcap heater things get sorted out I'll try it again.
Anyway, the Grasshopper has seen a lot of material. I'd say somewhere around an ounce. It's been between 3 and the high end of the dial the whole time. I have a B1 and 2 B2 batteries, all of which are generally charged in an Xtar VC4. I've used the magnetic charger when I've been away from the house and had it in my bag. I've used the GH in a bunch of different ways. Everything from 5 second draws to taking almost a whole breath through the GH. So far, it's kept up very well. I'm extracting bowls to a sort of burnt hay flavor in about 25 seconds of what I'd call medium to hard draw, via whatever method. I've never had an issue getting vapor that wasn't fixed by changing the battery. I generally get around 2 to 2 and a half bowls out of a battery, and I'll sometimes cycle all three batteries 2 times on a day off.

All that said, my back end does generally get fairly hot. I've used blue tac a few times, cycled the temp dial. Sometimes these things help, sometimes they dont. But whether or not the back end stays cool when I click it and wait 5 or 6 seconds and inhale, it works.

I risk jinxing it, but if it were to break today, I'd be content to go through the RMA process. As long as replacements are as consistent as what I have now, I'll be happy to keep using the warranty.
I've used it in situations where stealth was important with no problem, and even if people are watching me use it they wouldn't know it was Miss Jane by the smell, because there seems to be very little of one.
I look forward to the FW4 and seeing how it compares to the hopper in my particular case.

In regards to a discussion about crackling, I hear it too sometimes with one of the new strains I just got. In the first about 5 seconds of a hit, there may be a few little snap sounds. They're not all that loud, but in any sort of relatively quiet room you'll hear them. I'm not sure which of the Seawarp Outdoor or Atomic Love Potion it is that does it though. I don't recall hearing it before my most recent purchase.

I finally took my Ti Grasshopper on its maiden voyage this morning and holy moly, what a beautiful, beautiful device. I used a D3D funnel, filled half the chamber with coarsely-medium-ground herb (same grind I use for my Underdog), somewhere well under 0.1g. I used it native, no silicone, no water, since it'll be my out-of-the-house device and want to get a feel for it with that in mind.

Took my first toot at 3.5, enormous flavour, not-bad vapour, and it didn't make me cough, so I took it up to 4 and got rather denser vapour with the same great flavour, only started to tickle my throat when I was nearly done the draw. Got about five good hits (with a minute or two between, clicking off halfway through the draw) before vapour dropped out and I called it for that load, ABV came out on the dark side of tan, perfectly evenly. At no point did I find the hopper too hot on my lips. Back end stayed cool.

How do you protect your GH on the go ?

I got these to tide me over until GHL gets the 'official' sleeves out. Looks like I got the last pair, but if they restock I'd recommend them. They're a tight fit at first, but loosen up to the point where the hopper is snug and secure, but can be pulled out without tugging the button too hard.

This is the one I always use: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00VLP8H94/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Right side: (bottom, behind elastic) hopper, 2 tubes o' pre-ground herb, cleaning poker (top) crafty cooling unit hack
Left side: 3 backup batteries in the net pouch

The case is slim and virtually crushproof. I keep it in my front pants pocket. Contains odors fairly well. The crafty CU builds up odor though... BUT it makes hits sooooo smooth.

I am very happy with this (hard shell) case... grasshopper fits exactly in the case no wiggle (it is made for the gh)... and you can also store 2 extra batteries

I try clipping it on my t-shirt so that it's like hanging.. but if you're in a hurry or even running, this can be very risky.. the other day I literally grabbed the hopper last minute before falling off my shirt when I was crossing a road almost running. So I'll just drop it in my jacket's pocket if I'm on the move.. the hard-ish case looks neat and can fit some flower with couple of batteries, as @tubasco says.. the leather sleeve looks more professional in a proper stealth mode...

Some more update on the hydro tube.. this little thing pairs up like really nice with the gh..insane hits without any coughing or throat harshness and for some reason I think that extraction starts even faster.. this could probably due to the short air path of the tube and the instant "vacuum" created? ... really amazing!!

edit:
@btka WOW.. this is THE hard case man!!! my monies are not at their best lately but heck i'll buy it when i got them.. worth investing on the gh's long run.. ;)

Sorry, this item can't be shipped to your selected address.

I will hunt for something similar in Canada
I use one of my old e-cig ones. Could hold 2 hoppers spare batteries stash etc. Size of an eyeglass case but includes a magnetic battery charge indicator. So you can check the status of your batteries on the go which I find great. Cheap. Solid. https://www.vapes.com/products/innokin-vape-case-w-battery-tester?variant=16860155457 might be around other places but it's a couple of years old. I did see some recently at a local vape shop but they don't have them any more.

Well just my luck...my 8 month old SS backer hopper is going in for RMA....I was hoping i'd get my 3 rma's back before I had to send it in but not only is it straight-to-blue no heat 95% of the time, but the back end completely seized up like my og ti backer hopper, you can see a gap and it looks like there is some sort of cement in there. It won't budge...stuck on 5....unusable. Now for the first time in months i'm completely hopperless! So looking forward to getting my repaired ones back...hopefully in a few days...tracking is moving faster than I anticipated!
