This is a double blind study that states there was NO DIFFERENCE between NAC and placebo.

However... I also find this meta-analyses that states that it DOES have somewhat of an effect, but in instances of Chronic Bronchitis...

I think I have asthmatic bronchitis or chronic bronchitis currently and will be ordering some NAC from ceretropic today.

I have been looking into it for someone with copd.... the bad enzyme copd where the enzymes have been out of control...

I'm just adding an advice, I don't know if it's mentioned since I haven't read all post, but here it goes;

Try vaping nettles. I saw someone mentioning it working as an allergy medicine so I had to try it, and it really works (for me at least).

Your not mentioning allergies as one of your problems, but the reason I mention nettles is because when I vape it it doesn't just stop the allergy, but it loosens up the mucus and seems so slow down the constant production of it.

It doesn't taste good, but it weirdly effective, for me at least :)

Nettles = Instant allergy medicine ;) (And hopefully an instant mucus remover in general)

Best of luck!
Hmmm, interesting... could I simply remove it from the ground, dry it somewhere for a couple of weeks and then mix it with weed and vape it?! I know it's a weird idea but I love to make it simple and to kill two birds with one shot (should be correct this way of saying :D). So if you know some other superpower healthiers add-ons to put in the vaporizers(that doesn't smell like shit), let me know! :p

@invertedisdead ok you convinced me, I' ll get it! Could I use also this one, or yours is better?
So should I put 1-2 drop in a humidifier for all night long? Can i use it sometimes, like one week per month? Then in summer I could decrease the assumption for the hot tempratures.
Then, because I have no idea about humidifiers, can you reckon me a cheap one on Amazon that works well - no disturbing sounds and small if possible?

I ask in pharmacy for NAT, but when I discovered its a drug (and not natural), I lost my interest. I hate drugs, or at least I stay away as much as I can, if I don't have any health trouble.
Anyway I thank you all guys because a lot of interesting stuffs comes out with this nice thread !! ;)

How do you define "drugs"? The basic definition is "a medicine or other substance which has a physiological effect when ingested or otherwise introduced into the body" which can be applied pretty broadly. I think NAC is produced synthetically but when consumed it's converted by your body into cysteine which your body already produces and which can be found in multiple food sources.

To preserve the health benefits of the volatile oils, choose an ultrasonic essential oil diffuser.

https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2/158-1797170-4009628?url=search-alias=aps&field-keywords=Ultrsonic+diffuser

They are inexpensive, quiet and diffuse your oil through a cool fine mist. You can pick one to compliment your room.

Essential oils are very sensitive to heat and can degrade quickly in a regular humidifier or an oil burner (powered by a candle). These offer the fragrance but the lions share of the health benefits will be lost.

I use essential oils as I need them. 5 drops will do at bed time. If you are very ill, you could diffuse several times a day. How you feel is the best gauge IMO.

Cool, nice trick! But still I need your help to recognize a good one. I would get the cheapest one, but I have to be sure that, for exemple, battery works for several hours, and it has the right power ( I think few power=few humidification). This one could be suitable for me? If not, what's a good deal?
Thanks

You don't need to worry about batteries. Most if not all ultrasonic diffusers plug into a wall socket.

I need your help to recognize a good one.
Cheap ones have a plastic reservoir where you put your water and essential oils. Essential oils can break down plastic which then poses the question about the safety of inhaling the mist...

IMO, a good one would have a glass reservoir. Something like this...

https://www.amazon.com/Radha-Aromat...88343773&sr=8-15&keywords=ultrasonic+diffuser

Or this one which does not need water to diffuse the oil.

I cannot afford those ones! I would spend $10-15, not like $40-50. I'm sure that there is one good for me in that range, because of the products in the same range already posted here by another user.

it is like buying a good vaporizer- if you buy a ten dollar China knock off do not expect good health results but melting plastic etc....

I partially agree, it depends. For example I always buy china clones for vaping, and they are often nice. Some minor defects, but nothing that ruins my vape experience. Said that, ok I don't want a cheap shit, but for example the range written on top of the page (amazon $15-20 humidifiers) shows nice devices.
I think I could find a good one in that group that can be considered "healthy". I just need your help to find the right one for avoiding what you said ;)

Ok, maybe the reviews on amazon will help you the most- good luck... I've used a nebulizer in the past that mists the EO oil into vapor form to disperse into the air... not cheap though if memory serves.. again- good luck!

The criteria IMO is a glass reservoir ultrasonic diffuser or a glass nebulizer. Glass will not contaminate your vapor and keeping the oil cool will not harm the beneficial properties in the oil. The rest is superficial.

If you don't opt for glass then just get the cheapest or one that appeals to you. From what I've seen, the plastic ones basically have the same innards.

Health grade pure essentials are also not cheap. They can range from $5 to $50 depending on the essential oil(s) you choose for the condition. If you want all purpose sick room blend, like 4 Thieves...

https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_ime_c_1_9?url=search-alias=aps&field-keywords=4+thieves+essential+oil&sprefix=4+thieves,aps,263&crid=WL9D53FZ4VMN

Or just one of the less expensive oils like eucalyptus...

https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_ime_sc_1_23?url=search-alias=aps&field-keywords=eucalyptus+essential+oil&sprefix=Euclyptus+essential+oil,aps,250&crid=11XV47091BH12&rh=i:aps,k:eucalyptus+essential+oil

Or, if can use the old style approach; fill a large bowl with boiling water, add the herbs or essential oils of your choice, cover your head and the bowl with a towel and breath in the vapors. Costs nothing but the essential oils of the herbs themselves.

Good luck with your quest.

Not sure if I posted about this but either way, bare with me.

So THC is an expectorant... if I take a fat dab (or even get a big rip off a high thc strain) I will cough so hard I'll actually puke up mucus. Pretty gross, but much less gross than it sitting in my stomach, since I'm assuming it just floats to the top of all the other shit in there cos it's mucus...

I also think the coughing in general is due to mucus (in my case) as I used to have iron lung when combusting/smoking cigs. I used to be I guess pretty dependent on oxymetazoline nasal spray bc nothing else worked (that I had tried yet) and I was really sick of breathing thru my mouth from march-june due to allergies. Been using acti-fed which doesn't work amazingly (also freaking pseudephedrine...) but it does clear up the sinus congestion without the spray.

That essential oil mix @Squiby mentioned didn't work for me although I may be doing wrong and I'm just mixing some crap up

I'm hoping it'll clear up in the summer? as that's usually at least when I can breathe free without worries, because this excess mucus/coughing thing I've developed started just around when I switched from combusting to vaping. Would be shame if it was vaping but I can live with it, just pretty annoying

I just saw this thread and gave it a quick look through and I can't believe nobody's mentioned this yet. Hot Sauce. There is nothing quite like a super spicy rack of hot wings or any other spicy food to clear those sinuses and get that mucus out of you. Get some of that spicy stuff in you and you'll be as clear as day in to time!

Guaifenesin works very well to thin mucus. Just look for it by itself though as a lot of medications have it and 2 or 3 other ingredients.

It sounds like you may have a chronic nasal infection. These are notoriously hard to eradicate.

Nasal sprays can easily create a dependency and have a rebound effect when you stop using them. They are not the solution in my opinion.

Using a nasal flush containing distilled water along with tiny amounts of salt and baking soda will stop the infection. Not immediately though and you need to do this a few times a day for a few weeks or more. But, it will eventually resolve the problem permanently.

Many people use a Neti pot to flush their sinuses but I prefer this set-up.

https://www.amazon.com/SinuFlo-Read...0030HMR7E/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8

This is much more comfortable than using a Neti-pot.

The other thing that I can suggest is to take several grams of ascorbic acid to bowel tolerance until your symptoms subside.

These two approaches helped me get rid of decades of horrible terrible chronic nasal congestion. I no longer suffer with this at all anymore. I take my vitamin C and rinse my sinuses whenever I have the first sign of any sinus congestion.

adding lecithin and an ultra sonic device you can make lyposomal vitamin c... works great and uses less vitamin c,, I use acerola cherry powder to make it or 4 x camu camu powder... there is a great you yube explaining the ratios etc...

I'll start doing the flushes with regularity. I just have some rinse spray right now and haven't used the oxymetazoline for probably 3 months now.

I'll look into the ascorbic acid and massive doses of vit c also.

working on the construction sites a few dudes would use a water bottle with the little flip tip top cap and warm water+ solution and netti with bottle, lol.. the bottle provided a push it through medium. either way can be painful though and you need the water temp just right with correct solution.. it's gross

If you're new to mega vitamin therapy, watch some of the YouTube videos by Andrew Saul. He talks a lot about Vitamin C.

I have treated various illnesses with huge does of vitamins, particularly custom C since I discovered the work of Linus Pauling many decades ago.

Andrew Saul will help you rest assured that mega vitamin C doses are completely safe and extremely beneficial.

You might try elderflower. It won't reduce mucous but it's an effective bronchodilator that could be combined with other remedies. Also makes a delicious tea - it's what flavors St. Germain liqueur.

I just saw this thread and gave it a quick look through and I can't believe nobody's mentioned this yet. Hot Sauce.

Just about to type this. Not asthmatic but had sinus headaches for many years. Always liked spicy food and noticed relief afterward, so started adding habaneros to daily stir-fry. Don't think capsaicin reduces mucous but dilutes it to a sweat-like consistency that drains easily. (The real culprits were the dogs. Allergic. Don't need peppers without them.)

Can vouch for these as well:

The biggest would be ending use of all dairy products.

yes, I already decreased cheese, and in the morning i swapped milk with rice milk.

Think "all" is key here. Dairy acts like a sensitizer. Need to get rid of all of it to see an effect, not just reduce. Interesting alternatives exist including naturally cultured nut-based cheeses.

She suggested I use a sinus rinse/ flush.

Another fav.

Look at my avatar - see how clear those sinuses are? :zombie:

A great herbal remedy for mucous in your mouth and throat is Bayberry root. Ever been sick with a coated throat where you hack and hack to try to clear out the mucous? Well, gargling with and drinking Bayberry tea (maybe one teaspoon per cup) will clear all the mucous out amazingly well. It is extremely bitter and astringent, but it's worth it to cleanse all the crap off your throat.
