Zephyr Ion

Awww, this thread is about the exact opposite of what I wanted to read. My zephyr has ceased functioning and now it sounds like I shouldn't hold my breath waiting to return it. Urgh.

If there's no hope of returning, I guess I'll feel free to open it up. Has anyone actually fixed one of these on your own? My problem: it didn't turn on a couple times, then would start up when I moved it. Now it won't turn on at all. I'm thinking some sort of loose connection. Maybe? Any advice, at all?

Urgh. Thanks for any help, I really do appreciate and need it!

I had the same problem with my Zephyr (it would only turn on/off sometimes) after only 2 months of use. I had to resort to unplugging the unit to stop the air flow but eventually it seemed to rectify itself. It then worked fine for another couple months but now it has stopped blowing air completely. None of the contacts I have found from various websites, including this one, will even return my messages regarding this matter. At this point I would strongly recommend avoiding the Zephyr Ion. It is a great vape when it works, but it seems to constantly break down and the customer service is non-existant. If anyone has any repair tips please post. In the meantime I am patiently awaiting the delivery of my Extreme Q.

when my ion guive up i bought simply a volcano :brow::|:/

Not a consideration for me due to the only bag aspect of it. I like to use a bong but my Zephyr is still going strong. /knock on woodlike product.

The Oracle would be my choice for high end bag fill, assuming continued unavailability of the Ion. Like the Ion and other dual mode units, the Oracle at least provides a direct draw option, even though it's not passive.

Hopefully, Zephyr will survive this government BS and get back to producing and selling Ions. :/

If i could get an ion from a top seller on ebay for 200 bucks should i get it over the extreme q? I want something thats gonna last me a while and isn't gonna screw up within a few months... And i will prolly be taking it to a buddies house quite often so i'm sure it would be better portability wise than the extreme.. Let me know what you guys think

I personally wanted to get an Ion. But noticed no one was carrying it in stock other than eBay. So I came to FC and heard the news about Zephyr. Being impatient, and knowing it's a new issue, I don't think it will be handled that soon. Hopefully this year. (I feel sorry for everyone that owns one and needs parts or repairs). I will probably be ordering the Extreme Q in the next few days. But if Zephyr comes back strong, I might have to sell the Q and get an Ion. :brow:

I leave mine plugged in 24/7 6+months w/ very brief downtime between houses. No problems to report; but this is a replacement already. Very fast fix...at the time.

That red light is friggin bright though.

Nice video. I feel a few tips may help you. On your first bag, turn on the pump for about 5 seconds or more before you put the bag on to ensure a real dense vapor.
Also, I feel that the screen you placed on top of the bowl is unnecessary. You should save it to replace the top screen on the lid when it gets that honey residue. If you have found some benefits from this please share. You may covert me. lol/ And last, but not least, I believe Zephyr's instructions say to leave the top open when not in use. The heat transfers to other parts of the vape not intended for extreme heat. If you want to keep the lid closed; I would recommend using an empty bowl to ensure the heat is transferred out of the top tube, instead of the sides.

I got my Ion in September. I got it cheaper off of ebay, and then later after reading this thread and seeing how awesome their customer service is regretted not paying more for the warranty, but boy I sure am glad I went the cheaper route now.

I love my Ion very much, but I fear the day when the O-ring above the pan and the O-ring around the nozzle cease to function, as I am on my last. Anyone find any alternatives?

and yea i find usefull put a grill on the top of the bucket like that i feel like i vape more evrything you know its not flying all around in the bowl during vaporization .... and yea i always open the lid after i blow a bag i proly forgot it on the video i guess :p but yea its important to always open the lid after filling a bag... and for now i really have a big ammount of spair grill :D lol i bought a lot from this canadian web site hehe and i still use the same one since the begin i do that because on the volcano whit solid valve you have a kind of grill that you put on top of herb like i do

too bad zephyr went under. i have had mine for awhile now and posted earlier about customer service related problems which seemed to be an isolated incident. As far as my zephyr goes that thing is worth every :2c: My zephyr is still pumping strong and milking every bag (may i say still working better than my buddy's volcano).

my o rings went out a long time ago and i really got sick of the dirty screens and the way the whole bowl to rubber seal thing worked because no matter how hard i tried it ALWAYS popped out. So to answer your question Clean, "I love my Ion very much, but I fear the day when the O-ring above the pan and the O-ring around the nozzle cease to function, as I am on my last. Anyone find any alternatives?"
I use my volcano solid valve when i want bags and my easy valve when i want a whip. I posted in this forum a little bit ago as to why but trust me this thing with the volcano bowl pieces is mint. Not only are the pieces SO much easier to clean and work with but they are a perfect fit over the zephyr (remember for the solid valve to take off the blue ring on the bottom of the bowl) oh and there are always parts for them.
