I rarely use an entire bowl in one session. Just make sure not to leave your herb in the machine and you can use it for as long as you want.
What do you mean dont leave it in the machine? I can't keep it in the ion overnight? Also do you guys agree that you need to pack at least .05g or else you have a bad vapor to air ratio?

Quick question about how much teflon is used and how close is it to the heating element. I understand teflon is completely safe at this temperatures i just want to know if there is any teflon very close to the ceramic heating element. also, are all the 'airways' ceramic?

Regarding the whip accessory that is supposed to come out for this vaporizer, is there any news? At all? A local shop is selling the Zephyr for what I consider a very good price, but the only thing holding me back is the whip.

Bruce, I'd even accept an answer of 'I don't know'. To me that is better than 'soon'.

And while I'm at it,will any software that is released for the Zephyr going to be Mac compatible?

Thanks

Tom

Basically, when you turn the machine off the chamber remains hot. You should put the bowl in the machine only right before you use it and take it out right after to avoid any unnecessary vaporization.

I was talking to Bruce on the phone last week and he basically said that they have wanted to release the whip for a while but for some reason the production keeps getting delayed. He said that he was confident it was going to be released last year then it got delayed again and again. He said they are now telling him january, but he doesnt want to b.s. and tell us its coming out soon when it could get delayed again.

I second the question of future mac compatibility. I feel the opportunities that USB integration could have with the ion are massive. Many people have listed great ideas in this thread regarding USB integration.

I am a big fan of whip-style vapes, but also enough of a nerd that when I first saw that the ion had a usb port, a small party erupted south of my belt buckle. Although a number of workarounds allow an XP program run on a mac (with much more versatility in intel processor models), it would be ideal for the program to run natively in Mac OS X.

If the program released is stable and capable, with wide functionality, I will purchase the ion in a heartbeat. The thought of graphing my vapor use over time and being able to incorporate variable temp over time profiles into my routine is just... awesome.

Would love to be able to set the temperature for the Ion by dragging a dial onscreen, or running a pre programmed temperature increase. Yeah, the possibilities are many :)

Does the Zephyr Ion now come shipped with a whip?

no, but when released they say they will send you one. You sign up for it at their site.

Thank Beel. What are Zephyr users doing for the time being, if they want the whip? Specifically, which whip should I order?

I really am not sure what whips people use. I have 2 DBV wands and they will leak a bit when used. Not bad but enough to irritate me so I no longer use the wand and just slide the tube over it. You have to keep the tube in place or it bends but you can it straight from the tube or put the tube into a bong.

I am unsure of the size of the tubing but it the Da Buddha tubing. I have tried their old and new wands for the DBV. Well the regular, I guess they have a smaller wand which I have not tried.

I have not used bags in awhile but the tube is also very hard on the nipple, hehe, sounds a little sexy hehe! While they send an extra nipple when you get it I would order a few more as I do not believe it would work well with filling a bag after longer use with only the tube.

Well it has been over 3 weeks since my Ion crapped out and I must say the experience has been a disapointment. At first the customer service was excellent. Prompt responses and all. Bruce was very helpful. Got the unit shipped out and they sent my a new or refurbed one sorta quick. 2 weeks from door to door. The bad news is the new one did not work correctly even one time. Never heated up once. NOT HAPPY! But since customer service was so good the first time I went thru the motions to get this one fixed. I emailed Bruce about a faster shipping method(didnt want to wait another 2 weeks) and he assured me that I would not have to wait that the unit would be overnighted as soon as the SECOND defective unit was in the mail. That was last MONDAY. And now all of the sudden Bruce doesnt respond to my inquiry request or phone calls and no one has EVER answered the phone number which I have left several messages. WHERE IS MY VAPORIZER?!?!?!

Hey, have y'all noticed Bruce hasn't replied in a while? Something must be up, he would never ignore the chance to reply to an FC post. He hasn't returned any of my emails and we talk every week. I heard through a reliable friend of a friend he was having medical issues... It's hard running the show when you are only one man...Get well Bruce, where ever you are.:peace:

Hope all is well. I thought something might have happened to Bruce but more along the lines of perhaps it was a holiday/family thing to losing a job at worse.

Positive vibes for Bruce if he needs it and I hope those having issues have it corrected shortly.

I can confirm he is having medical issues and he should be back sometime after the new year. I have no specifics nor would I share anything beyond that if I did. I also thought it was odd for him to just cut off contact after he was so swift to provide great customer service before. The weird thing to me is that I cant get a hold of anyone else in the company. No one ever answers the number ever. I hope their still in business cause I still havent got my Ion or a shipping notice saying that has been sent. Apparently they have to attempt to repair before they ship replacement now due to federal regs or something. Anyways get well soon Bruce!

Your hose is most likely disconnected, usually happens when you move the ZI a lot..or if you keep the bag on too long and it forces air back into the unit.

my advice would be to wait for someone from customer service to contact you.

if you can't wait and don't mind voiding your warranty..you can re-attach the hose yourself. I've done it multiple times and its really easy..but i talked to Bruce and he gave me the OK.

Hey Everybody,.. wow, lots to answer since I have been in here last.
Been a rough month over at the Bruce household and I am sorry for neglecting my presence in here as well as on the phones and email. Minor glitch in the overall system and it had to be done, sorry for anyone that has felt unattended to.

First question...

With all of the extra pieces and things that came with the cleaning swabs and stuff, what are the little peanut sized white/clear things with 3 ridges on them? Looks like the top of the tube the vapor comes out of but can't quite tell if it is or how I'd change them out. Only cleaned this vape once (in 3 months) but planning on doing so again tonight.

That piece is a replacement for the silicone tip on the Teflon nozzle. Pull the old one off and press the new one on. Not likely to need replacement very often.

So what is the status on the whip? And the software? I was dissapointed to find that neither of them were in the zephyr box. Very happy with the vape though.

The software will be a download, from my understanding this is less than a month out and we will send you an email to the link once the bugs are fixed.
THE WHIP,... egads, I have no idea,...I honestly can not give an answer on this other than there will be one produced and it will be a free retrograde. They do not currently come in the box with the ION.
( make certain you are signed up for the software and whip release notifications,... links at the bottom of this post)

ok so I have owned a volcano, as well as a zephyr ion now, and i love them both, however the volcano worked perfectly with my AC/DC car adapter (120v), and my zephyr does not! as soon as i start the zephyr up, it shuts down the adapter. Is there a large amount of electricity required for startup? or what could be keeping me from enjoying my zephyr on the road ???

To use the ION in a vehicle you will need a adapter that can handle 400watts. During the initial heat up faze the ION draws a lot of power to get hot so fast. After it gets to temp it draws very little power.

Also how long is it supposed to take to fill a bag?

A bag should fill in 30-45 seconds. ( based on a standard bag, larger bags take longer smaller bags fill quicker)

danielofski said:
I know but I am wondering if I pack a bowl, do I have to finish it in one sitting, or can I finish it in the course of 2-4 days?

No, you don't have to finish it in one sitting but it is best to remove the basket from the machine when not in use. You can set the basket aside and use it as needed.

The Teflon does not come in contact with the ceramic and all of the air paths are either ceramic or medical grade silicone tubing

Tom, on the whip - I don't know, on the software yes it should work with pc and mac

I suggest the hot box vaporizers 2 piece whip. You will only need the one piece but it fits perfect on the Teflon tip and can be used hands free. Folks have been pretty much hobbling together whatever works. Much like the old days hahah.

This is a question for me to answer on email or my website but,.... yes, filling out the form is all that needs to be done to start the repair RMA process. Within 48 hours (baring holiday issues) a label will be generated by UPS so you can send the problem ION back, print out the label and send us a clean (as can be) machine.
This is where things change from our old policy, we used to send a replacement as soon as someone told us they had a bad machine, problem is we would rarely get the defect back. So we had to get the machine back before we could send a replacement. That was fine but then we find out that we HAVE to attempt a repair before we send a replacement out.... oy,... so from start to finish a repair can now take 2-6 weeks depending on the issue and whatnot.

Damn fine advice,... again sorry for my absence but it had to be done. I still have limited access to my phones and internet but will certainly take care of folks as quickly as possible.
