Yeah, I was wondering if someone noticed. It just reminded me of people at fast food that order the worst foods for them but then get a diet coke as if it is going to counteract the fat.
I know there are other reasons to vape than just health, like the flavor and the overall wow factor of putting herb into a machine that fills bags full of medicine.

I just picked one of these up and I'm mostly happy, except about one thing, the noise. How loud is the zephyr supposed to be. Is it normal, for instance, to have to crank your TV volume when the pump is on. It seems kinda like a hassle to constantly be turning the volume up/down on your audio/video devices as well as making conversation less enjoyable when the pump is on.

I'm betting you have the old model,i used to have the old one and it was loud as shit, the new one is nice, you can still hear it but not nearly as loud. Does yours have really bright lights on the front? The revamped models have lights that are easier on the eye. Email Bruce their customer service is great!

I'm betting you have the old model,i used to have the old one and it was loud as shit, the new one is nice, you can still hear it but not nearly as loud. Thanks for the quick reply NS. Ya, mine has some pretty bright lights on the front. On your old Zephyr, was the pump really uneven sounding as well as being loud. Mine sounds like a gas powered weed wacker.

How long does it take to fill a bag? I had a similar issue and it was due to a hose coming off inside. They replaced quickly but I am not sure about the lights but I think its a bit dimmer. Would be nice if it would go to sleep a mode to speak and my bottom LED light doesnt work but when I turn it on, never did on the replacement but its not like I care about that hehe.

Anyways, making sure your not having similar issues as some other owners have had with the older model.

@Beezleb, I'm actually super impressed with the speed this thing fills bags at, well under a minute to fill the bag it comes with. I'm very happy overall with the unit, it's just so damn loud, and I mean LOUD.

No not at all, it was loud but it was a pretty steady noise. Sounds like somethings loose.

A couple more questions. I accidentally spilled some powdery ABV into the basket holder and it looks like some got through the screen and onto the white teflon underneath. You're supposed to be able to unscrew the basket holder to replace the bottom screen, correct? I wanted to try to get in there to clean the teflon. I tried turning the basket holder and it moved a bit but I didn't want to force it. Can I unscrew the straw to remove the top screen as well?

Finally, is there any definitive way to tell if I have an older model Ion or a new one?

I believe earlier in this thread Bruce stated that if your Serial Number starts with 09 or better it is new one...mine is 10 :)

OK. I've got a 10 too. Still waiting for whip info as well. I didn't get any kind of confirmation email when I signed up for whip notification on the site. Was I supposed to?

The most recent news I have heard on the whip is January.
I have toyed with the idea of sending an update to those that have signed up but since I have blown past a couple release dates already I am wary to do such a thing.
There are a couple of our distributors that say they are also working on aftermarket attachments, I.e. a hookah type splitter........

Do not unscrew anything on your ION.
To remove the top screen:
unplug unit, open lid, remove silicone o-ring, pull screen out.
To clean top:
a better word is reclaim,.. use the rounded end of a paperclip to reclaim the buildup on the teflon piece. To remove the final residue use a rag dipped in alcohol or oil.
To Remove the bottom screen:
No need to remove the bottom screen.
To remove debris from the bottom screen:
Method 1- Blow down into the chamber to blow the debris out.
Method 2- open the lid, make certain the filling basket is not in place, run the pump for a few seconds to blow out any debris.

Would the whip from say...a generic box vape make a decent substitute (until the whip is released anyway)? I've read about the 7th Floor whips being used but I'm not aware of any other make being used.

Earlier in this thread I believe there is indeed a wHip mentioned that works with the ZephYr

I have yet to order one but since Bruce said Jan. :( I am pondering the idea of ordering one.

mine's loud and had bright lights and fills up the bag kinda slow, i thought i had an older model but ss# starts with a 10 sooooooo...... idk it work though but it is loud and my girlfriend's is not and it's faster.
