Zephyr Ion

I feel pretty much the same way. Not long ago I took the vape to a gathering of friends and all were impressed with it.

My latest temps of choice have been 1 on bag at each temp 328, 356, 386

I don't think the company is actually interested in providing a whip. What a shame too. Seems it would be a big plus to the unit.

any news on the whip?

There is a sign up sheet for the whip on our website.
The whip isn't vaporware and it will be released but our focus has been on production of the ION itself. Once we have all our back-orders caught up, we can focus on the whip and the software a bit more.

Is the Whip still going to look like the prototype that you showed a while back?

That was actually a nice looking whip, also appeared pretty thick from the pictures.

The whip will be very similar to the prototype we had. It will be rather thick as well.

Bruce@Zephyr,
:/
Sad, but true; an epic fail of my Zephyr Ion. Turned it on today and it put out "vapor" right away. I was surprised it was so fast but, stupid me just threw the bag on. So, it looked very dense and kinda yellow in the bag, then the base of the bag melted. I turned it off, unplugged it, and opened the lid to find my product burned and with a smell that reminded me of the combustion days. I turned it over to check the filter; it was clean, but there is something large loose inside. So I'm panicked and have e-mailed Bruce to save me.

Oh man, that is terrible news. I have not gotten your email, if you sent it to the admin email on the website it will take a minute to get to me. bruce@zephyrvaporizers.com is the fastest way to get results. NO need to panic, you will be taken care of asap and any ION with an issue gets replaced/repaired right away.

I will say that there were a few of the very early IONs that had a heat sync issue. THIS HAS BEEN RESOLVED. The heat sync stops the ION from getting over-hot and also shuts it down if it does.
I would bet that if you tried to turn your unit on, it would not heat at all.
This is a built in safety feature, if the machine senses that it is too hot it will shut down the heating element. The ION heats quickly by first going over temp and then backing back down, with some of the early heat syncs the element would get past the point of combustion and then back down. If the air pump was turned on before the screen turned from red to green, the unit was likely over hot. As i have stated, we became aware of this and have fixed it on current and future models.

**Edit** That large loose thing inside is likely the airpump. It sits on rubber feet to dampen the noise when it is running. If you wiggle your ION you will feel it move around on the inside, this is normal.

Bruce@Zephyr,
I'm scared to turn it back on. I've cleaned it up with iso and it's ready for the next step. I guess it's break time for me. This is my only vape, and combusting just doesn't even come close to getting the job done. :(

For what it is worth, they were very fast when I had an issue. It was an earlier model. They sent replacement right away. I honestly dont recall the length of time it took but I recall being surprised how fast it took.

Thanks. Do you know if the replacement was new, or your old one fixed. ?

We send you a brand new one, get the old one back. The idea is to have you down for the shortest amount of time possible.

5:10 - Vape not working
5:11 - Panic
5:12 - Anger
5:18 - I like to call this the moment of clarity (e-mails Bruce)
5:30 - Replied with a diagnosis and a positive honoring of warranty in the form of a replacement.
6:15 - I check my e-mail jokingly (thinking Bruce is a normal human)
6:30 - On the phone
6:55 - Fixed

I knew choosing a Zephyr wouldn't have been a bad choice for my first vape. Bruce is a quality distributor, someone who takes real pride in their product; a rare trait these days.

Thanks to FC for establishing this site and Bruce for being everything I read he was.

I've seen people talking about using various whips with the Ion while waiting for the official whip to be released. I understand the SSV whip fits the Ion well and, as far as I can tell, the cheapest you can get it for is around $20. Can anyone recommend any other cheaper replacement whips or direct me to a lower price for the SSV one? Thanks.

Just got my Ion today - super excited to use it but I have one concern. The baskets look like they have some sort of copper-colored stains around the edges.

Is this something to be concerned about? Want to use it as soon as possible!

I see a little bit of that in one of my baskets, too. I can also see what look like tiny little rust spots around the bottom edge of both baskets. Probably not a big deal but I'd like an answer as well.

I just found out the answer to my own question. If you're looking for a temporary whip for your Ion, PM VapeChris and he'll cut you a great deal.
