After some more testing I have to admit that this unit performs amazingly well, yes I will always be able to take another small hit in other vaporizers but being able to enjoy pure convection while walking around the city centre without anyone even looking at me... who cares about that last whispy hit without flavor? :mental:

Have been trying it today with an EQ gasket (not sure if that's the name) instead of a ring and I'm really enjoying it. Seems to have a quicker and more even extraction. Just fill the gasket with some grinded fluffy meds (I use a Santa Cruz 4 piece) untill full, no press, no overfill; just tap on the side of the vape to acomodate the flowers inside. In one sesh at max got almost perfect extraction (that damn last hit who no one cares anymore ) have to test further but it would be amazing to finish a bowl every cycle. Looks like I'm gonna be using it this way until the SS ring and the new mouthpiece are available!

Really happy with this purchase, this unit is perfect for exactly what I wanted: After a day at work, it doesn't mather if it's 3pm or 23pm I can just walk back home while puffin flavorful vapor while listening music, so I arrive home totally disconected from work...

Great vape @Boundless Vape Technology

Question re CFX/CF with concentrates … talking about using concentrates in the video ~14:35 the Boundless guy on left tries to unscrew the lid of the concentrate container, but can’t get it off, and says:

>“… Looks like it’s shut. Oh, one of these concentrate buckets”

Then Boundless guy on right says:

>“It’s provably like vaped shut.”

So, made me wonder if that’s a problem. That goo gets in the threads and you can’t get the lid off?

Looking forward to my very first “dab” shortly and would like to use the CFX rather than buy a concentrate pen like the Source Orb or K-Pens Donut. But want to do it right. Not sure about the CF710.

Thanks for any tips or tricks.

Though very impressed with what Boundless is doing … and how fast.

So, any news about when the quartz mouthpiece and the aluminium ring are gonna be available? Maybe in a pack? That would be sweet!

I thought the ring was gonna be SS, why aluminium in the end? Damn, would have loved to do those questions in the stream...

SS was changed to Aluminium because the SS was absorbing heat and not reflecting enough. Ring and mini bubbler have arrived and are being stocked before they go on sale, Quartz mouthpiece won't be till mid/early Feb due to Chinese new year.

Where will the mini bubbler be sold?

I believe they said they would be sold directly from Boundless.

IIRC Should be on website tomorrow.

Now let me ask a question. What advantage does an aluminum retaining ring bring?

I hope it's a bit more "heat" so you can actually fully extract your flowers.

What is the latest? Is Boundless selling on their site or not?
What happened to the "Filling Funnel"? Somebody from Boundless said they would be available in Nov.

I think Boundless did say they were no longer selling direct but the website should take you to a supplier who has the item. When you go to select an item on the site it gives you the retailer options. This week hopefully more things will be added.

The Aluminium ring should give more conduction heat ( where the SS ring absorbed too much ) and then give you more extraction.

Surely this is the market for the CFX? I thought the whole point of the CFV was to offer pure convection? Why would anyone want to add conduction?

Personaly it's about adding temp more than anything, I would love to be able to get a full extraction from this vape. If with a bit of conduction we can do that, I'm happy :)

I will repeat my observations: WITHOUT a RING

1. install the bottom screen to protect the airflow from the heater.
2. use an Arizer Extreme "top hat" screen on top of the screen (open end up)
3. Use retaining ring and funnel to put herbs into the open "top hat"
4. Install an additional screen in the bottom of the retaining ring (ledge about 1/8 inch up.
5. screw the retaining ring back on.
6. reinstall mouthpiece.

Excellent extraction even at 200 C and no pieces to clog the mouthpiece.

If any of you guys have a screen from an extreme Q for the mod on the CFX should at least try my suggestion for a bowl or two and see if you are getting better extraction.

Thanks for sharing! Have been trying this without the screen on top of the "top hat". Will try it tonight, but don't expect too much difference just putting a screen on top. To be honest I think it's my favorite way of using it, have to test the quartz ring a bit more but in general the "top hat" extracts more evenly for sure.

The main thing is that to fight my insomnia those last hits at high temps help a lot, what I'm doing lately is finishing my ABV from the CFV on Omnivap or EVO but would be nice not having to depend on other vapes, that's why I'm looking forward for the Metal () ring

This is interesting. I've been using the Q-hat mod for a bit on my CFV, and I notice it extracts quicker than normal, which is a good thing - the CFV with a wooden ring can take a while to extract the goodness. If I read you correctly after you fill the Q-hat with herb, you're putting a pipe screen over the top of it and holding it down with the retaining ring? That would seem to solve my last complaint then, the mouthpiece getting clogged up with weed being pulled into it. I'll try this idea out tonight!

Update to my previous post about the Arizer Q bucket screen mod for CFV which I documented here: http://fuckcombustion.com/posts/1044426/

Using the helpful idea from @sickmanfraud to use a screen on top of the Arizer Q bucket to hold the material in place so that it doesn't get sucked up and clog the mouthpiece, one of my main complaints with the CFV.

I tried it last night finally and it works like a charm. It is a little fiddly, but so far its the way to get the fastest extraction from your material I've found on the CFV. With no ring inside the chamber and your material in the bucket, it gets hot air all around the load. You just have to insert one of the included chamber screens in the top of the retaining ring and screw it down on top of the full Arizer bucket. Here's a picture of it in action.

No. The CFV is full convection and the load is not cooked unless air is being drawn through the chamber. The mod doesn't change that. I often take 3-4 hauls and turn it off and start it up again an hour later.
That's awesome.....exactly how i like to vape. Can't wait for my cfv to come back to try that!

With this mod your battery life probably is better since she doesnt have to work so hard, does this improve airflow also?
