Does anyone know if the O rings are latex rubber or neoprene/silicone rubber? Bruce, I emailed ya, but maybe it got lost in my outgoing spam filter.

And if the O ring is latex rubber, could I pay to have a neoprene or silicone O ring?

I gotta ask because I have to practice 100% latex avoidance for stuff going in a motorhome because of allergy.

thanks

Tom

@504vape -- did you unplug any of the wires inside to disassemble it? or, is that a loose wire that should be attached to that lug (middle of 1st photo)? or, maybe two loose wires?

504Vape I am sorry to say that you have a unit which can not be repaired. You have also been taken in by a sheister on ebay. I Would get in touch with EBAY asap and try and get my money back. You did not purchase your unit from an authorized dealer and I realize it is not your fault but I can not honor that warranty as I can not vouch for what happened between the time that unit left our warehouse and got to your hands. We ( Zephyr) are members of Ebay's Vero program which helps protect us and customers like you. I think ebay will help. Wether ebay does help you and gets you your money back or not, get in touch with me via email. ( buce@zephyrvaporizers.com )

I do ask that you remove the pics of the insides of our ION, there is nothing I don't want people to see, but the proprietary aspect bothers me.

I think the only "sheister" here is you and your company for not honoring the waranty, why should the customer be a victim, go after the people selling the Ion's at a lower prices, how can you fault a customer for just going on instinct and choosing a lower price? absolute nonsense.

And to tell him that you want the pictures removes is ridiculous, look around buddy there are pictures of many vapes' internals all over the net, some companies even pictures and diagrams of the internals on their own websites. This is why I hate when the manufacturers spend too much time on this site, they usually end up saying stupid things, overstepping boundaries, and getting into arguments with other manufacturers, and forum members end up taking sides and kissing ass all day. I can't believe this forum puts up with it.

Give the guy a break and fix his machine, the whole thing couldn't cost more than $50 in parts anyways, you would probably earn a loyal customer and end up making more money in the long run on his replacement bags, whips, and other accessories....even future models if you end up staying in business long enough to make one.

Ease up stink. The real problem here is people trying to get their business handled on the forum. This issue is between Zephyr and 540vape. 540 is now the second person to come to the Ion thread as a new member with a problem. You may notice that Bruce told him to send an email, and this is what should happen. The last time he did this everyone came away happy. Your post helps to proliferate the problem you address by getting into business that is not yours.

We are walking a fine line by allowing manufacturers to have a presence on this forum, and other forums don't allow this. But we have already seen good things happen from it: the MZ/AZ is becoming ROHS comliant, the VaporIcer was revealed for the piece of shit that it is, Pandora's Box came into existence and the LaunchBox has undergone many improvements, just to name a few. But one thing we are going to stay away from is meddling in business affairs. Members are encouraged to report their customer service experiences, but we are not going to allow this forum to be used as a leverage stick for customers, as that proves nothing about a company.

If you have been wronged by a company, let's hear about it. But you and I are both far enough removed from this situation to pass judgement. Let's be honest here, 540 has not made it easy to be helped given his living situation and is probably underage for this forum and the product anyhow.

I missed the pics of the insides of the Ion before they were removed, but wish I could have seen them.

I have the utmost respect for manufacturers who share all of their trade secrets in hopes to advance their field (and as a sign of their confidence in their ability to remain a leader in the field using their ability to conceptualize innovations and make them a reality).

I also try my best to respect those who choose to keep proprietary trade secrets at the expense of the progress of the field they seek to advance (please do reconsider allowing the omitted pics to be reposted, Bruce/Zephyr management).

I do hope that your situation works out, 504. And, I agree with all that stickstones said about the situation. Stories, ideas, pictures, experiences, questions, etc. should be shared here and business matters should be handled directly). It is a tricky balance to allow manufacturers to post while making sure to maintain the integrity of the site (who wants a promotional site full of propaganda, right?).

In this case, Bruce seems to be a stand-up guy who treats people very fairly; and I am glad to have representatives like Bruce here to answer questions and keep us posted about changes in their product/organization, specials, contests, etc.

Although I was a bit disappointed to see that the pics of the Ion's guts had been removed, I am glad because it has motivated me to share my experience with the Ion after all of this time.

As many others have stated, the Ion seems to have amazingly accurate temperature control and is extremely easy to use.

The seal on the unit is extremely solid as well, but I look foreword to hearing about well-used units as they age.

I do know that one unit that gets used nearly all day nearly every day seems to be doing fine (with periodic cleaning of the parts).

Are there any store-owned units that you know of that have been well-used by the customers who frequent that store? (that would be a great perspective to have here at FC, IMO).

Well, I guess it time for the 'two cents' icon.

Toke it easy, all!

Sadly no. Still learning to drive a motorhome, and we're scheduled to go to BC/Washington in July, and then a 2 week trip to California in November (I'm praying for the ballot initiative to pass).

Oh definitely I expect the Zephyr to be stellar. The big, easily readable display is a big plus for me :)

thanks

I think you are correct, pics of the inside would be cool and may even advance the tech of vapors . While I would like to post some pictures for you and I do plan to in the future. Pictures of the inside of a non-working unit may not help anyone. I did not demand the photos be removed I requested it and 504 was nice enough to do that for me. I will post some solid pics in the near future for FC members.

There are a few dispensaries in California that have our ION on display for patients. I know the Green Door Collective in San Diego has had one since September and has been filling bags for patients all day during working hours. I also would like to hear some experiences of folks who have had an ION for awhile.

Hearing things like this just makes me respect Zephyr even more. That is some really good news, and I'm glad the company is standing behind their product.

Mine is used anywhere from 3 to 6 plus times a day. Starting with today's first vape :brow:
I have my DBV loaned out and I do miss the whip. I am really looking forward to the whip release.

here is my review of the zephyr ION :brow:

heat up time: mine needs 5min (zephyrvaporizers says 2-3min). but as i am located in europe, i need to use a power converter. perhaps that matters, too.

pro
design
big display
very robust
usb port
bag+whip
fill big party bags
no leakage
design of the herb chamber: can easily be removed, even when hot
the mesh of the herb chamber: does not clog very easily (i also use it for my iolite now)
accurate temperature
easy to use

con
fine herb could possibly fall inside the device if spilled because of the cleavage on top

2s53dq9pc8yn.jpg

always standby; no on/off-switch
changing bags: removing the cable tie is diffult - you could cut yourself or damage the sealing of the mouthpiece

1druuicpl2l.jpg

at first I had quite some leakage because the o-ring was not yet mounted. but after asking here on fc, I found it in the spare parts and now it works perfectly. no matter how the herb chamber is located no leakage at all!

the compressor is quite powerful, I have already popped two balloons because I was too slow to hit the fan-off-button. but I guess you should not do this on purpose.

a friend said he likes the valve system better than the volcanos. I would have liked a somehow smaller mouthpiece better, I think. you really have to kiss the mouth piece, the way it is now. but if you cleaned it after the last balloon party, it should be no problem.

overall impression
with the whip included it definitely is a great deal!
for parties, where many people want to hit the ION, the bag system is perfect.
for single use, a whip attached to a waterpipe is my preferred solution.

thank you bruce for the contest! :)

As promised here is my review of the Zephyr Ion received Thursday April 22. The unit is easy to assemble and heats as advertised to desired temperature in about 2 minutes. I used 369-370 for heating my medicine. After I'd filled the first bag a few times, (3 or 4) I was too slow on the trigger & the balloon popped. I thought this would be a perfect opportunity to try & get another bag attached to the mouthpiece. There are no instructions in the manual on how to attach a new balloon using the ties included with accessories & since I'm not an engineer after 30 minutes I gave up & decided to use the 2d bag included with the vaporizer & wait to get a whip as I was experiencing mucho vapor loss as well with the balloon(O-Rings had not been attatched). After reading on line about the O-Rings I decided to look for something in the manual that refers to O-rings & found nothing. I then searched the accessories & I found 2 plastic rings that I was able to fit in the circular area where the medicine tray fits.

Now this is my first vaporizer so I can't compare the Zephyr to anything else. On a scale of 1-10 with ten being the best I'd give it a 7, taking off a few points for incomplete instructions & not providing a whip in order to compare the 2 vaping methods. However I would like to know if whips (weren't included with accessories) can be ordered now so I can stop using the balloon method? What can I do to simplify the assembly process for a new baloon?

I'm a single vapor guy & don't anticipate sharing my medicine with anyone so the whip should be the best choice:/

I've been lurking this thread for days now, but skipped to the end as it got kind of repetitive. I am seriously considering dropping the cash to make this purchase. Especially after seeing how active Bruce and Chris Gibson are in the vap community. And after hearing about all the great customer service experiences I'm sold. I've only smoked out of bags with friends and this would be my first vap purchase, so I'm pretty excited about the whip. I was just wondering, what the time table is looking like for the release date of the whip?

Well that didn't take long...I just ordered mine lol. I'm still interested in the release date for the whip. But I saw Bruce say something about a coupon and getting it for 320 instead 380 + Tax my headshop was charging or 360 elsewhere online, tough to beat 320 free shipping for a vap with such great reviews. After 5 seconds on google I had the coupon code and 2 minutes later I was ordereyd up.

I'll post my review once I get my unit in and have had some time to test it out, since I'm a first time vap owner, I may be able to give a bit of a different perspective.

Bruce honestly I really appreciate the effort you put in here on this forum. It easily was the deciding factor in me buying this vap over any other.

Heisenberg,:
Thank you for the review.

nvlystd:
We are working on a video instruction manual and will be posting it online soon. We had to put the production of the whip on the back burner while we try and meet demand of the actual ION. Sorry to those of you who have been patiently waiting. The whip will come, it isn't a myth... Right now it is looking like late May. At the THC Expose in LA I had the chance to use a HOT Box Vapors tube and their glass fitting worked great with the ION. Even got to use it to sneak in a couple hits without security noticing.

AOC:
Glad you decided to go with the ION, I don't think you will be disappointed. Looking forward to your review.
