Recent Acquisitions - Post Your New Pieces Here

You don't NEED a 14mm joint. You can always get a reducer if you find a nice piece of glass you like that's 18mm.
I'm not positive about using VCs with male joints, you will need someone else to confirm that.

Definitely stick with simple diffusion if you want to keep flavor.

I do really like that piece too @Stevenski . I don't want to open up the wormhole of browsing instagram for glass just yet though...

Thanks for the advice! Beyond limited exposure to couple hookas and bongs in my youth several decades ago, I know nothing about glass. I appreciate any and all advice. I will go over to the Cheap Chinese Bubbler thread and ask some questions...

I have been flipping through DHGate and the options are staggering. The FC threads have highlighted a few artists and am now following a few. I'm haunting a few glass threads here and beyond being mesmerized by the beautiful diverse pictures of glass in all shapes and sizes, I'm trying to link it all together to learn about function over form and the art of glass.

For a good Vapcap match, this is what I think I have learned so far.
- 14mm joint essential. Male and female will both work. (?)
- match size of water tool to vape. So choose a smaller water tool for a VC.
- Choose simple diffusion over percs or anything that might create heavy turbulence.

I'm not sure if I'm on the right path, but I'm trying to determine the fundamental characteristics to avoid, or seek out, and why, in searching for a beautiful piece of glass.

I do know that I wish to acquire a piece a glass much like I prefer my men; a pleasure to hold and behold. Functional without being robotic. Something that will warm my soul.

Sounds like you're getting there.
  • A female 14mm female joint will pair best with VC. Male will require adapter(s). If you find something you really like with 18mm (also female), a 14mm to 18mm glass bushing/reducer can be found many places for cheap (<$10). I use one on my 18mm pieces with VC often.
  • Match water tool to size of vape, but also what you think you'll like. With small so small these days, "medium" could be fine.
  • Yes, stick with the simple diffusion.

And, I'm finding it is a BIG wormhole!

Yes, 14 mm. Either a female or if you get a male you will have to get an adapter (not big deal, most of us end up with a ton of different adapters over time anyway). My suggestion is definitely get a 14 mm female.

Yes, you don't need a big honking bong for a VapCap. Nice medium to medium small bubbler should do the trick nicely

As far as diffusion, this gets to be an issue of personal choice. You see a lot of folks go for maximum cooling and smoothness and these folks will like a lot of diffusion. You see a lot of folks who go for less diffusion in order to retain taste. I'm in the later camp. That and a lot of the really high diffusion pieces with multiple percs, etc just seem to be over done to me, but somebody loves them or they wouldn't be made.

I love it when you talk dirty like that, Squiby! :brow::lmao::lol:;)

I had the good fortune of winning a really nice Pulse piece on IG last month. And I am happy to say that I really like it. It has a 'leaning tongue' diffuser that gives really smooth hits with zero chug. Too big to be a dab rig but perfect for vaping. The nail from 420titanium was another part of the winning package.

This piece is NOT scratched by @mvapes .. very obvious in person. Not as precise and not scratched as deep as he would; he would have never left that messy weld visible. But nice none the less.

Well,
Those of you who buy custom pieces know it can be so rewarding sometimes and so heartbreaking others. My most expensive custom to date was a fab. It was finally finished after over a month and it cracked in the kiln last night. Wouldn't be a big deal but he says the colors that I picked (He suggested them) didn't agree with his style. I asked for a fab using some Bubble trap he had just received. He said yes but he would have to mix it with another color so we decided on Mystery Adventurine as the second. Not that big of a deal but I hope he comes through with something as beautiful as this one was before the crack .

Sad this piece will never see the light of day

..that REALLY sux about that fab crack....that is an absolutely stunning piece...perfect all around...very interesting on the marble above the perc....would be cool if it too was diffused....hopefully the next works out because it's hot.

I know, He is willing to make another one but I have to pick another color to replace the Mystery Adventurine. I was thinking of some other Blue/Green Swirly color. Maybe something like Glass Alchemy's Dragon's Eye or something cool like that. I guess Blue dream would work. Do you guys have any new awesome opaque green/blue swirly type glass colors you know about?

On a positive note I did got my Bowman Window Cone rig in!!

Check it out, huge triangle opal at the top of the Aqua Azul cone 3 hole perc. 10mm to 14mm custom drop with Aqua lips.

My latest piece is from HMKglass. Im a sucker for crushed opals. He is Canadian so that was a real bonus/selling point for me. The Canadian $ is not great so Im always looking for Canadian/local glass blowers.

I saw this video on IG and it sold me. Came with a directional flow carb cap too. He did sign the bottom and date it after I payed for it.

I had a drop down made for it too.

Nice piece, didn't realize that HMK was Canadian. I also love crushed opals, need a 14mm piece soon as the Bradley Miller cropal bucket I bought recently is too big for my 10mm Al Gore Glass cropal traveller.

That's a wild looking piece, mate! Quite beautiful. Do you plan to actually use it?

LOL, of course! They are functional art, I use all of my pieces. In fact I have used the hell out of this Cone rig since I got it!! The function is amazing and the pictures don't do it justice. It's currently my favorite piece. That vapor swirling around the triangle opal filled marble on the Aqua cone perc is so cool to watch! I have been using it with the 14mm drop with the Liger and with the 10mm PB Thermal P knock off I got. Both Stellar! All of my glass stays sparkling clean and new looking anyway because I keep them in constant rotation, use distilled water, and clean them every time I rotate. I use the shit out of my glass!

Why wouldn't you use it? If you use distilled water and keep them clean they stay just as perfect as the day you bought them.

@mrbonsai420 is affraid we will possibly have an intervention on his ass for hoarding glass :science:

I really just started this addiction! My first 50 pieces were all Chinese glass and I have given those away since getting into real art rigs. All except for those few choice pieces from Hemping and 1 FC-UFO lol. I have maybe 10 pieces of Scientific and another 20 colored pieces that I have just recently gotten. But as you see the collection is growing fast!!!! I may need an intervention @mutten840 lol If you REALLY want to see a nice collection ask @Deadshort480 to post his collection :whoa:
:mmmm:

OK, so my Mystery Adventurine fab could not be duplicated after the crack :(. He did remake it with a custom pull color that is pretty cool though to go along with the Bubble trap portions. Check out my new piece incoming. Drop down coming with it hopefully. Can you dig it ;)

...I honestly like this version better...the base really pops...the mouthpiece looks like alot more work than just the solid band too....very,VERY nice piece.
Yep, me too,
That neck/downstem looks downright Sizelovey.

THANKS! That means a lot. It took a lot of time, going back and forth, patience and trust. @Redtailglass is such a great guy to work with. I highly suggest you give him a follow, And maybe buy a crazy nice fab! He does straight fabs, this venetian fab, a double venetian hour glass fab that is amazing. plus all sorts of other great rigs! I will post pictures of it when it lands this weekend.

BUT until then the Totem Orbitals are here!!! and they are nice! He also can do fades with 2 colors, what do you guys think?

Beautiful. I particularly like the blue/aquamarine colored on. The color along with the design gives it that 60's, "The Jetsons", feel to me. I really like it!
