Looking for the most efficient, "bong-like" Vape

Again, they both reach operating temps in under 5 minutes, but what I meant is they won't reach thermal equilibrium in that time. The same as logs, I feel letting them fully heat up produces better results.......

Would you qualify what you mean by "better results"? What better results do you get by letting the LSV heat up for 15 minutes versus 4 or 5? Not a rhetorical question either, @FreddieFresh in that I just can't imagine that the results that I get at 4 to 5 minutes is lacking anything whatsoever so I'm really curious.

Well, if everything goes as planned, i'll order something this week, though not sure what as of yet.

I'll look forward to hearing about what you get. I'm an all day hitter as well.

I went portable because I can't wait for heat up times. I don't feel comfortable leaving anything plugged in and turned on all day as I live in an almost 100 year old tinder box with old wiring out in the woods. I got a Nitecore battery charger and a couple of spare batteries and it works great with my Focus Pro. I hope it'll be the same when I get my GH. But with the GH I'll have the ability to take one or two hits and then stop baking the herb. I don't even care if the chamber is small or large, just so long as I can stop the heating process and start it again later when I want more.

I live in Washington State, so any warranty work won't be an issue for me like it would be for you, and I have my back ups to get me by.

Purely anecdotal, but I believe it helps in some group situations. 4 or 5 minutes is enough heat time to produce thick vapor. But without some time between hits, most vaporizers will suffer a bit of heat loss during sessions. Being that you vape alone, micro-dose at lower temps, and know how to properly use the LSV, I don't expect you would personally see any difference from heating it up longer. I usually turn it on when I'm getting ready in the morning and leave it on until I go to bed, so I'm not actually waiting around for 15 minutes every time I want to use it.

Draw speed is a big factor as well. The air flow is so wide open that many of my friends hit it too fast and they'll get thinner vapor production. The natural reaction is to turn the temp up, but with so many varying draw speeds, I just have to find a happy medium on the dial (1 o'clock) and tell people to speed up or slow down. But I'd rather do that than turn it up and risk combustion.

I've also noticed the glow of the heater will fade a bit during a hit. Having everything fully heat soaked seems to ease the heaters struggle against the ambient temps and faster draw speeds. I think it's more necessary with the log designs because it will raise the overall air temperature before it enters the heating core, but heat soaking seems to help most vapes IMO :2c:

I am an all day old dog and never have problems until my daughter (Hulkwiena) and her daughter (Hulkette) come over (daily) to overwhelm the heaters in Underdog and Nano. They keep saying that "This isn't working!" as they blow clouds. It is such a good example of the Grass is always more potent in memory than in front of you.

Thanks @FreddieFresh. Makes sense now, especially when used in group situations.

Two other questions. When you leave it on all day, do you leave it on at your desired pre-set temp and if ya do, doesn't it get uncomfortably hot to hold? I know when I leave mine on for more than 20 minutes which only happens by accident, it greats REALLY toasty.

Ahhh, glad I'm not alone. I can hit the nano and UD both pretty much back to back with seemingly no issues, but not so much with friends.

If I know I won't use it for a bit, then I turn it down around 10, but yea for the most part I leave it around 12:30 or 1. Much higher than that and I'm sure it would probably be too hot for me, but I don't find it uncomfortable to use at those temps. I could be abnormal though haha

One more vote for VapCap.

Cheap (for the OG especially, but really all of them are worth the price), fast, efficient, hits hard like a bong, and their customer service is the best.

Any vape user who doesn't own at least one is bringing great shame on their family ;-)

Sorry to bring shame. ;-) I ditched flames when I ditched combusting and I'm not going back. I'm so sorry, but there's nothing about the VapCap that appeals to me. I realize saying that is sacrilege here, so many people push them on FC. I'd be up for trying a VapCap, I'll try almost anything, but there's nothing about them that makes me want to spend my money, no matter how cheap it is.

I too have a hard time wrapping my head around how a vapcap can hit like a bong. i guess i'd have to try it for myself. it seems to be more like a j or pipe hit then a bong. i dont like the idea of carrying a torch lighter because a bic wouldnt work as good for it.. No lighter was part of my reasons to switch. I can see how it can be useful as a portable or long trips away from civilization though.

Like original poster, I made the switch to vaporizing from combustion not long ago. i read lots as well and ended up buying a Bamboo HI, Heat Island Log , from Alan of Toasty Top . I really like! It was within my budget, it didnt break the bank & im loving it! in fact i made and uploaded a video on it, taking nice lonnngg , smooth & tasty hits out of very little material. I even managed a 3rd hit after stopping the video :)

I solely use a vapcap through my left coast bong. I have never had a vaporizer capable of milking glass like this except maybe the lotus, but I definitely prefer the vapcap for several reasons.

I would like to make a video. Maybe I'll try tonight.

I'm kinda with you on that. I know that there's a LOT of love here for it and there are those that recommend it as a primary vape above all others, but I just don't see it. I had one of their first ones that they brought to market and I looked at it as little, stealthy "dugout"........nothing more. For a portable, I guess it's ok, but I would NEVER trade in my LSV or MiniVap for it. I have a hard time wrapping my head around a VapCap being a bong-like vape. Like jumbo shrimp, it's kind of an oxymoron.

Their products have come a long way since the 1st gen. I have a 1st gen vapcap and a vapcap from Nov 2016 and the latest version is incredible through a bong. The vapor is very thick and on demand, so it milks up glass. I will try and post a video as soon as I can. There are lots of other great vaporizers, but very few pair so well with water in my experience. I have not used a minivap or an LSV through water, so I cannot compare, but I don't imagine they are as portable or easy to use with a bong.

With the 1st gen vapcaps the first hit was usually flavorful, but not milky. With the current vapcaps the first hit is thick, the second hit is thick, and then there is a third wispy hit.

It's not for everyone just like any other device, and there is nothing wrong with saying so.
A dull world if we all liked the same thing.

@lwien I have often wondered if you used your VC at all. They have come a long way since you got your one, but again horses for courses and all that. I do enjoy my HGL for the plug and play, ready to go all day thing when I'm busy.

Variety it's the spice of life.

I too have a hard time wrapping my head around how a vapcap can hit like a bong.

Here's my favorite milkshot and some others which illustrate how well it works.

I'm rather with you guys. I have VapCaps and love them, really do love them...particularly my OGs.

BUT, I think a bit of disservice is being done to inquiring members when the vC is almost always tossed out as the one-size fits all, nut for ever bolt, solution.

It is simply not to my mind and I not only love my OGs, I really deeply admire and respect George, Matt and the rest of the Dyna team for their outreach, their CS, and their dedication to bringing a really wonderfully functioning butane vape to the market.

I have had early models and I have the lastest Ti tip. Yes, improvements have been made, this is one of the things I so admire about them, the continuing improvement program they run. But improvements still don't make it a one answer solution for every vape purchase inquiry.

Its seems to me lately that no matter what the OPs criteria are, no matter how these criteria may exclude the VC, there will be a bunch of people recommending it. I don't get it. The VC certainly has a place in my line up, but if I was limited to one vape and one vape only, it would not be the VC. That's just me, you may be well different.

As far as the VC being bong like or not...wow, not really a relevant question to me. The VC does, however, extract wonderfully and completely in a couple of draws and runs outstanding with very small loads. The VC really does have some extremely desirable characteristics, but not the answer to all inquiries IMO.

Cheers

When I said "fuck combustion" I wrote of torches and lighters also. But there were enough situations that plug-ins and battery powered vapes didn't quite fit the bill. I got my Vapcap specifically to have an option when I don't have access to power. That being said, I like it so much it still gets used daily. Its very conservative. I prefer to dry hit it compared to through a waterpipe though. It can milk pieces well, but compared to my desktops, the hits are a bit small for my taste. But different strokes and all...

I'm strongly considering a VC as my first back up/portable purchase, but im sure it will never be able to satisfy my needs as my every day setup. Which is probably also why im not rating the LSV too highly, because it just isnt that "All in one and designed for each other"-kind of package.

I'm sure the LSV is a great choice, if you already have a lot of equipment, different size bongs etc, I just dont, and when i compare the bongs i own, to the bongs people use with their LSV, im not so sure they will be super suitable for vaping at all (too tall, big, too much water, need new shillums etc pp). Like i said in one of my previous posts, I'm sure some of them would work for now, but I kind of don't want to have to experiment around a lot with my second, first Vape, I just want it to be a good OOTB Experience, preferably with the possibility more flexible setup in the future... which is why i came to the List and the previous page ;)

I'm gonna take the Weekend to decide I think, and then pull the trigger on monday, if i dont reach any other last minute enlightenment I will probably go with the EVO, although the Herbo TI is still looking sexy, but i just cant find enough info on it to be sure its what I want.

To me "bonglike" doesn't mean the vaporizer capable of making the biggest rips, it means a vaporizer that is best at being hooked up to a bong and milking it like one would smoke a bong. Maybe this is because I used to love to smoke snaps when I combusted.

EDIT: I read the op means different and doesn't need to use a waterpipe and doesn't want torches further down the thread

Thank you for sharing phattpiggie , those are neat videos, it does perform well with a bubbler or glass indeed.
Would a comparable hit be possible without the use of a water too or would it be too hot or harsh without to milk it without water ?
I'm not sure if op is looking to use vaporizer with a water tool or looking to replace combustion and glass all together.

@phattpiggie I really enjoyed your Vapcapple video

Took me back to my early days of smoking, when I would have to repurpose whatever was lying around to make a bowl. Like stoner MacGyver from Half Baked

Rough times for sure, but memories nonetheless. Makes me wonder what other fruit pair well with the VC :sherlock:

Some one on reddit implied the carrot was in fact a Weiner. I had to bring up material safety, I would never compromise anyone's health, who knows what nasties could off gas out of a sausage.

@phattpiggie Im already on the waiting list ;) Since its gonna take some time anyway, might aswell get on it, and since its the Only true log available in Europe, and is very affordable, why not right?^^

Water tool wasnt mandatory, but its a nice extra. "Bong-Like" was more about being able to take 1-2 (quick) hits and going on with my daily business, with minimal material requirements for optimal use. Clarified that in my following posts.

The thing is, most of the vapes being able to do that seem to work rly with a water tool, sinceanything that isnt a dedicated session vape can do it to SOME extent.
