Looking for a suitable vape

I've been smoking bongs most days for the last 5-7 years.

Although I've never tried a vaporiser myself, I'm considering purchasing one for the sake of my lungs. I'm after something that is durable, doesn't look like crap, easy to use and can handle everyday use.

I'd be willing to spend a few hundred on it, but anything over that would need to be pretty perfect.

I've read a number of the other threads that cover vapes. They've been quite helpful, but because there's such a wide range of them sold by reputable and non-reputable companies, I'm having a tough time deciding on what I'm actually after and who I can trust to send it to me.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Have a look at the Silver Surfer or one of the log vapes like Myrtlezap/PD/Woodeez. The new Extreme-Q looks very promising too if you'd like to experiment with bags. They're all very different vapes but each should serve you well as a daily driver. If you're like most of the people here you'll probably find yourself starting a collection after a while. It's nice to be able to switch things up.

I would HIGHLY suggest you read up on the 'Whatvapeisbestforme' thread and also about the individual vapes themselves.

Coming from the smoking world, you will notice that vaping is MUCH different. The biggest thing I see from smokers is they complain about -
The lack of discharge
The 'delayed high' effects
The 'difference' in highness

Like Cr8z13 stated, you will prolly end up with a collection. Some of my vapes give me monster hits with no so great efficiency. Others are just for convenience, while my daily driver is meant for slow and steady @ home usage and making the room smell wonderful.

Most brand names are durable and can handle every day use. Looks are in the eye of the beholder. Easy to use immediately would be a big fill model. Direct draw/whip vapes have more of a learning curve, but very few people find the task difficult enough to give up and turn to bag fill.

I've read a number of the other threads that cover vapes. They've been quite helpful...
Then tell us what models, or at least what types, are of interest to you.

I'm not aware of any brand name manufacturers (and I think I would be) that aren't reputable. If you're referring to dealers/resellers, we have a list of recommended companies that cover pretty much all the models on the market. There's no reason to worry about getting ripped off when buying a vape if you use our list.

While quite a few members members end up with multiple vapes, we have a lot more people who come here looking for a vape that suits them, find it, and move on. Telling someone you don't know, that they'll probably end up with multiple vapes can be taken to mean that we can't steer someone to the one type or model that will serve their needs. Don't assume that someone will choose to take up a hobby as a vape collector. ;)

Check out the videos in my sig if you need some basic vaporizer info.

Since you mentioned you liked bongs I recommend looking into a wand vape or whip vaporizer but once you decide on a direction we can help you better.

you said you were a bong smoker, so im assuming that you still have a collection of glass. i would look into something like the vriptech heatwand (vhw) or into a good whip based vape such as silver surfer, da budda, vapor brothers ect. as to be able to still use your glass collection in a whole new healthier way.

although we can tell you which vapes we ourselves might choose to purchas in your situation, ultimately its going to come down to which vape fits your needs and pricerange.

So far the direct draw/whip vapes have taken my interest.

I like the portability of the AroMed 4.0's carrying case. It looks like a pretty solid unit, although it does look a bit too medical and it's fairly expensive.

The Arizer Extreme seems very versatile. I think I might enjoy having a few options for using the vape. I'm in Australia, so something with an Australian power adaptor would be ideal. There's an Australian reseller at http://vapourama.com/ that sells the Extreme, but they're not taking any more orders until February.

What's the difference between the Arizer Extreme and the Extreme-Q? I can't seem to find the Extreme-Q on their website.

The Vriptech Heatwand looks interesting, althought it looks like you achieve the same kind of effect by using the Arizer Extreme's bag in combination with a glass bong.

The Silver Surfer and Da Budda seem a bit basic, but that could be a strong point too (possibly less can go wrong).

It's still early days in my research, but thanks for the info, you've all been very helpful.

da buddha / silver surfer sounds perfect for you, they deliver pretty monstrous (bong-like) hits, and are both excellent at-home units for personal and multiple person use. if multiple might want to invest in an extra wand though, one for you and one for sharing.

if you're a pipe man I'd suggest the vaporgenie as well, uses a lighter and requires some practice though.

I went with the Extreme. Besides reading up as one of the better whip based systems, all on preference, the fact it was a bag/whip basically got me to get it. It has so many features and ways to vape, it seemed like a great buy. It is small, and easy to put away. Doesn't make much noise, and isn't suspicious at all. The only disappointment was that I found out that the Extreme-Q is coming out soon, and I JUST got mine less than a week ago. The Q means "Quiet" so it's al ot quieter than the old one, even though it wasn't that loud. I would deff recommend the new Extreme-Q if you want an all purpose vape, but I don't know your price range. I got everything, a free grinder/grinder baggie, 2 extra screens for both parts, and a case for $311 off of Vape World, which was a sick deal since it's basically being sold for 300$ by itself elsewhere. Honestly I cannot say what is better, because I've only tried my extreme and a vapor bros. But I definitely like this better than the vapor bros, but that's about it.

Any other questions feel free to contact me about it.

In your 2nd video, in your sig, it says that vaping higher quality and lower quality will cause the same effect? Is this true, or if it does, did he mean the same amounts or what? I know that higher grade has more pollen, or at least I would think so, and that would enable to use less higher grade, than lower grade, and that usually is the case. Also I notice I'm not as tired with lower grade stufff either.

This was a sticky, but got out of date. I have updated it and resticky'd the topic:

Since you are new to vaping, I would suggest trying a friend's to see how you like it. I was hooked on the first hit, but I have family that much prefers to smoke. If you can't try one that way, you may want to get a first purchase that helps you decide some things.

The VaporGenie is, imo, the best functioning vape for the price. It is cheap and definitely works well once you get the technique down. Buying this first would be a good intorduction to vaporizing and allow you to be portable with it.

I bought the Extreme as my first vape. What I like about this as a first purchase is that the unit works well with both bag and whip systems and is very flexible should you want to try different delivery methods. This vape helped my figure out what I like best while still giving good quality all around.

If you have $1,300 to burn and want to purchase what would be my ultimate vapor bar, get a Volcano, a Silver Surfer, a VripTech Heat Wand, a VaporGenie and a LaunchBox. How I would love to have all that!

I am sorry, I just saw this:

I believe he is talking in relation to achieving similar effects based on the temperature as certain things vape off at different temps where smoking affects it all. Vaping does not make all weed equal. The attributes of the selected herb is their just as it is in smoking.
