Thanks! That actually worked for me in the past, but did not today. Perhaps it has something to do with the age and usage of the battery itself. That would be the only fundamental element that might have changed over time. The unit is functioning normally in every other respect, so I suppose I should consider myself lucky if the worst thing I ever experience is that I have to charge from the USB port on one of my computers.

It may be that the iPhone charger has degraded just enough to be shy of the necessary current capacity required for the hopper.

I recently had this problem with charging my Pax (group session). It would work most of the time until it wouldn't charge (flashing lights indicating a problem). The Pax team said to use a computer port and the problem went away.

The iPhone charger is really on the edge of being capable of supporting the job of hopper charging. An iPad charger would be better, as it has more stooch.
 
I got my replacement body a few days ago and have had a chance to test it out.

1. the batteries now work a lot better.
2. it works a lot more consistently. I don't have to play around with the temperature or do all
the other resetting activities that I have been doing since I got the hopper.

It is clear to me that my original heater/body never worked correctly. It worked just ok before but
now it works like a beast. My Christmas wish is that the company survives another year.

GRASSHOPPER CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
Frequently, customers ask for advice on how to keep the Hopper in top condition. With more Hoppers in the wild, we believe it's important to provide our suggestions. We read through the forums, and we are intrigued by the techniques developed by Hopper users. However, while we admire some of the methods, we've seen damaged Hoppers returned to our warranty department, ruined through improper cleaning. So, to help prevent customers from voiding their warranty, we've developed some recommendations.

Because of the efficient vaporization and short vapor path, your Hopper does not need regular cleaning. Taking basic care to clear the chamber, front-end, and threads of plant material after each use will keep you up and running.

The Hopper's front-end has a durable, machine etched stainless steel screen. Not only does it not need to be replaced, but this screen is also designed to withstand scratching during cleaning. Scrape the screen with a small tool or unscrew your backend and use the end of your clip to remove leftover plant material.

Once ever few months you might want to perform a more extensive cleaning. Follow these steps to avoid any problems:

  • Unscrew your front-end and place it in a sealed container of 99% isopropyl alcohol. Leave soaking for 24 hours. Ensure the front-end is completely dried off before putting it back on the Hopper.
  • Dump out any herbs by lightly tapping your Hopper on a wood surface. Take a dry q-tip and swab the inside of your chamber to remove any loose material that might be inside. Never remove the screen in the bottom of your Hopper as this could damage the device.
  • Turn your Hopper to temp 5 and draw through the device for 15-20 seconds. Let cool for 2 minutes and repeat 2-3 times. This process will further dry out any plant material left behind and make it easier to remove.
  • We do not recommend using a solvent in your chamber. If the solvent leaks down the chamber, through the screen in the bottom, it could damage the device when you turn it on. If you do use a q-tip damp with 99% isopropyl alcohol, hold your hopper with the chamber facing the ground as you clean. You must let your hopper dry for 24 hours after this procedure. Failure to do this could cause it to stop working.
  • Clean the threads on the front end with a microfiber cloth damp with 99% isopropyl alcohol. Do not let excess solvent leak down into the chamber.


Back-end Thread Cleaning

We've had several questions about cleaning the threads on the back-end of the device. Due to the nature of metal threads, over time you could experience some amount of corrosion. The flow of electrons, exposure to the environment, and action of the threads all can contribute to corrosion. However, it is unlikely to cause your device to malfunction and is not a major issue.

For users looking to get every last drop of power out of their device, a quick cleaning of the threads could be useful. Users have written in about their methods for doing this and here is our run down.

  • Isopropyl alcohol (Not a Good Idea)- We do not recommend cleaning the threads with this or any other liquid solvent. Solvents can make their way into the back-end easily and cause problems if not fully evaporated before use.
  • Blu-tack (Maybe Okay) - This pressure sensitive adhesive is a putty that sticks to itself. Formally made by Bostik, it is reportedly non-toxic and can be used to lift built up corrosion or dirt from threads. We have not yet conducted a study of the effectiveness but can say that if it is not leaving a residue, it should not cause harm to your device.
  • Dry Brush (Okay) - A small dry brush will work well to loosen any material that might be on your threads. You can then use a microfiber towel or similar to remove the material.


Important DON'Ts:

  • Do not get the bottom of your chamber wet. If you do, let your Hopper dry out for 24 hours before using.
  • Do not use any conductive grease or other substance on your threads or back-end. While the application of this conductive grease in the proper way will not hurt your device, the tight tolerances make it very easy to create a short circuit, ruining your Hopper.
  • Do not remove the screen from the front-end or chamber. Incorrect removal or installation could cause your device to stop working.

Can't get the Ti-chillum off my mind so I started carving out a hopper pipe, been sawing firewood all day and thought that piece was nice shape and ended up fitting so well in the hand, I am not going to take much more off it but still thinking about mouthpiece or not

Let us know how it goes. I've heard certain woods help make smoke smoother. It probably works for vapor too.

It seems strange that they would say to dump out herbs after suggesting we put a mouthpiece back on after 24 hours. Are they saying to do either of these things, or both?

End it seems that, while they are not recommending removing the chamber screen, they don't give instruction on how to remove mouthpiece screen. And I can't believe you would NEVER want to remove that.

All in all, it's nice to see you they are making the effort to instruct users how to take care of their product. I do understand that they must write these instructions with concern for those who aren't "inclined" to things of a technical nature, so perhaps they wish to provide less leeway with "unorthodox" procedures. "Leave it to the pros"' if you will.... that being themselves of course.

If his product keeps selling,a don I hope it does, maybe a star will rise and n YouTube with a Hopper Maintenance course series. :)

The two instructions are not necessarily linear. It seems a rather obvious leap to dump and clean the chamber at some point before putting the front end back on.

The instruction to leave both screens in place is clear.

I'd like to hear their studied take on PBW! but for now we'll take what we can get. I do appreciate these suggestions, and I will be (slightly) modifying my Hopper cleaning routine, to do less! it seems.

Funny about that because the theme of '16 for me has been "lowering my standards". (not my expectations, just my personal levels of acceptable work results) Like when I painted the rear stair hallway; it needed hours of scraping, spackling and sanding before a drop of paint. At a certain point, and way before I thought it was, I declared the prep stage 'good enough' and started to paint. Then I decided just one coat of white over white primer was enough, so there. All in all, lowering my standards freed me from at least another day and a half of work, and the job looks great. It's the effin' back hall.
This theme has come up again and again this year. I'm thinking it just may be an unanticipated sidebar to aging.

Yesterday for some reason it appears that both my Ti and SS hoppers are underperforming. They just don't milk up my glass as rapidly as they should, and seem "weaker". I'm still trying to determine if it's the meds, the grind, my technique, but after some time of flawless use, i'm starting to wonder if i'm having some issues. The other thing is that I left a battery on the charger over night (stock oem charger) and it won't fully charge up! It's just blinking red.... so this is a first. Switched charger cables so we'll see what happens. Is the battery toast?

Are the SS and Ti front ends interchangable? My guess is no, simply because I swapped them with eachother a few times and now the Ti will not screen on the Ti hopper at all! It's like some threads have been destroyed or something? It's so weird, almost eerie to me.....the Ti front end fits on the SS hopper perfectly, and the SS front end fits on the SS and Ti hoppers perfectly, but the Ti front end will NOT fit on the Ti hopper anymore.

I hope the honeymoon isn't over, but I have ordered another Mighty just in case (my wife prefers it as the GH irritates her lungs). More testing!

I have been making similar adjustments. As I realize (over and over again) that I have fewer years left than I have already used up, the oft-repeated question is "Is this REALLY how I want to spend my time?"

When it comes to people, there are several particularly heinous ex-co-workers to whom my reaction is "I have only so many breaths left to me in this life. I'm not wasting any more of them on you."

Never in my younger days did I imagine I would have it in me to be such an effective curmudgeon. But then, never did I imagine that I would have something like the GH to take the edge off my grousing.

If you think both your gh's are underperforming, I wonder if it's the batteries. Hope you can resolve it without a RMA.

I am a crazy cleaner. For this device i mainly feel crazy about the mouthpiece.
1. Did not like removing the screen. I need that tool that @Ratchett will probably not make.
2. Blow out debris. Q-tip inside with iso.
3. Put in jar of denatured alcohol for 20 minutes to a day.
4. Take out use pipe cleaner to try to clean mouth end gently. Snip off end of pipe cleaner to get multiple uses.
5. I used to then boil the mouthpiece until i let it boil dry. Got a new mouthpiece as that one destroyed.
5A. Put in jar let hot water run over it for awhile add soap and leave for...
6. Rince with hot water and let dry.

If anybody has more insanity minus disassembly i will incorporate. Merry Xmas to all my hopper breth and sists out there. This vape rocks

Just got my Grasshopper 2 days ago and I was very happy with this device so far..
However, the device stoped charging today, after just 2 days of use..
The red led flashes once after connecting the charger but stays black then..

I assume, there is no fast fix for this problem?!

So, the hopper that I ordered for a Christmas present through the eBay point-of-sale never made it to my house before I left home to visit family for Christmas. The hopper is for my nephew, who currently vapes oil. I hope he even wants a Hopper, but if he doesn't, I'm sure I can sell it. Anyway, I took the box my Hopper came in and wrap that. When we exchange at least I'll have something to pass into his hands and I'll just have to explain that I'll send it to him when I get back home. Such is life.

Ya know, I've had the same experience with my two SS Hoppers lately... hard to describe the problem other than it just seemed "weak" and couldn't get any thick clouds, even on temp 5... so A few nights ago I ran an experiment and prepared both Hoppers identically, both with fresh GHB2s, and they both seemed to be working OK.

But now, I'm wondering about them again... I can't seem to get those thick milky clouds, even with freshly loaded herbs and a battery fresh off the external charger. They're both working... just not as well as I know it can

So weird I know! Yesterday both my hoppers were working flawlessly, but now again i'm not even sure. I thought I narrowed it down to strain and technique, but I keep second guessing. I will add this though, one time when performance seemed supbar I unscrewed the backend and twisted the temp dial back and forth, reassembled and it worked perfectly again! I think it's just sensitive picky high tech electronics... just like the oem usb charge cable, that can be finicky for me.

So far so good....and keep hoping for the best! I love these vapes more than many, if not most, if not all? But I need just a bit more reassurance and reliability before I pull the trigger on the 2 backups for these i've been eyeing.

I still don't understand the mystery of my 2 front ends, and why the Ti want screw on the Ti hopper but will on the SS. I guess it's just one of those things that makes you wonder. I'll probably end up picking up another Ti front end and hope it fits. Otherwise i'll be using Ti/SS hybrids from here on out! lol

So, is this normal behaviour. Regardless if its on 3 or 5 I click on, 5 secs the the light goes blue but I don't really get an meaningful vapour production until about 15 seconds after. First few pulls I get a bit of taste but not much else.

Also had a moment when the front end wouldn't screw on yesterday, been cleaning the chamber with the crafty cleaning brush so kept going over the threads with the brush and then trying to fit it. Eventually got it back on but with a slight notchy feeling so kept at the threads with the brush and now its OK again. I remember when it was new you could shake the front end and get a rattle which has dissapeared with use, but made me wonder if the front end had been fully screwed together, possibly slightly unwound in transit? This could possibly cause the front end from going on if they used the same threads.
