Where are those massive bags available at? I'd love to have them for when a good amount of people are over!

I've bought it at supermarket :D Was labeled as "Baking foil". Cost 1-2$. I think it's the same as the volcano replacement bag (I've seen it for like 20$). Same length and material. That bag is huge, is at least 8 times bigger (and fills up 8 times slower).

Finally I've tried this and it's awesome mod. I've sandwitched two domed screens in there so it is impossible to fall out and let anything fall down to the heater. Packing the new bowl is very efficient. If i pack herb softly in the domed screen and turn on fan 2 (200C), I'll get one small tasty bag and the abv is evenly brown even. No need to stir, there is perfect airflow. And if I want to stir, it's way easier than stirring the elbow pack.

Better, than old elbow packing imo.

Drilling didn't go very well. My hands are clumsy. The hole is not perfectly round. But the domed screen fits snugly so it still works well. Yes, temps should be a little lower. I'm getting even chocolate brown after 1 small bag on 200. 205 is beginning to taste harsh and herb is slowly getting very dark. So I stick with 200.

Two domed screens sandwitched together:

(Also see the elbow in background - I've cut a lot of it's short tube, so I can now connect a bag and get true all-glass path, less condensation and better taste)

Althrough drilling didn't go very well, the result is nice:

ABV after one small bag 200C fan 1-2:

(Why does my camera see chocolate brown as yellow?)

Summary of advantages:
-more even heat distribution - hot air is blowing from all directions to the packed bowl.
-loss less heat because it's near the heater - more precise temp controll
-also the bowl no longer touches cold glass - no need to preheat now.
-stirring very easy with the stirrer. The thin end to stir, the other end to pack.
-herb falling into heater - NO MORE.
-bigger cyclone bowl with better airflow - when not packing using larger ammounts

...cyclone bowls should be sold like this imo.

I've just made its tubing even shorter, so bag mouthpiece touches the end of elbow glass. The little piece of tubing just holds them together and is not in airpath anymore.

It's the "white balance" setting on your camera. Some really cheap or older digital cameras don't allow white balance changes at all, but these days most do. Your camera should have different WB (white balance) settings like "auto, tungsten, fluorescent etc" - sometimes these WB settings are just simply called "indoor, outdoor, sun, shade, flash etc" - higher end models all have a "custom WB" allowing one to first shoot a plain piece of white paper under your current shooting/lighting conditions to achieve virtually perfect WB.

Setting proper WB is/can be a deep subject but basically different lighting conditions will require different WB settings. Our eyes have a perfect, instantaneous and fully auto WB correction built in, but unfortunately current digital sensors (and film) do not. If you play around with your WB settings you'll no doubt find one that works to your satisfaction under your current lighting/shooting conditions. Back in the film days us old fogies had to buy special film for different lighting conditions (even had to walk barefoot uphill both ways in the snow to get to the photo store). Nowadays, you spoiled young whippersnappers not only have no use for film, but you can change WB with the simple push of a button

Probably way more info than you really want/need but ...... sometimes once I get started I have trouble being concisely brief :)

Really informative and nice pics btw! - even in spite of some slight WB issues - Its not the easiest thing to achieve such decent levels of clarity and focus throughout, yet still retain fairly proper exposure when photographing such small and highly reflective objects at close distance! IMO, your pics did a fabulous job explaining this mod and your experience. Bravo!

:peace:

Thanks for that explanation. I was taking all photos with auto settings, no flash and macro on. Looks the auto setting is not the best, I should explore these WB settings.

With vapes you are learning forever. It has been some months of using the EQ and today I've figured out the whip. Alao the cyclone bowl mod helped alot. I always thought with vapes slower you pull better cloud you get. Not with a convection vape. If packed to the screen in the modder cyclone bowl (few posts above) you have to increase pulling speed till you see few bits float away. The stream of vapor is thick already and faster pulling can "unpack" the bowl. With the right fast speed it's a very dense cloud. I think 50% were spent by one draw. Then easy stir-repack with both end of the stirring tool and hit again. Few more dense hits and its done. I got vaked more than with a bag imho. It surprised me how powerful it can be with fast pull and herb packed.

I'm about to order one of these off Amazon. Is ordering from there a good idea? Also, it says it is the 2010 model...is that latest version? I can't afford to spend $299 on a vape right now so this is my only option besides eBay.

The latest version has been out for a while since 2010. I have not read any reports of bad or old merchandise being delivered only questions on warranty. I bought 3 of em off ebay and have been thrilled for the last year.

ru_frothi,

can i stick my male joint in there?
365 is my sweet spot too, hehehe
you can leave the weed in there for a very long time, since it won't start vaping untill you hit it or turn the fan on. I have the extreme now for almost a month, and this vape ROCKS!!!

Just got my Extreme out today after having the Solo as my big boy for a couple of weeks. The airflow in the two is practically night and day, with the Q the vapor just glided down the throat. I just wish there was an easy one piece whip ala Da buddha, would really help cut down the cleaning!

Hi fellow EQ'ers :) I've had the EQ for about a year now and use it every day. Im curious... How many hits do you guys generally try to get out of an elbow pack? I always start on 195 and end at most at 210. The first two hits are always the best and most dense. I then stir it up a bit, pack it back down with the back of the glass stirrer (fucking CRUCIAL) then turn it up to 200 and take two more much smaller hits, then up to 205 and another one or two to finish it.

In the past i have tried to get a lot of extra hits by stirring and restirring over and over. How hits do you guys try to get before moving to the next? :)

Good question. I usually take two slow (ten to fifteen seconds) deep draws at 190C, hold for at least ten seconds, and stop. Sometimes I'll stir and take another hit at 195C but this causes me to cough too much. The ABV is then "butterized" :)

Didnt check if you got advice on grasscity or not, but yes you can keep the herb warm for extended periods of time. I frequently will pack an elbow after my first and put it in there and leave the unit on just so its nice and ready when i am ready! I haven't noticed any difference between leaving it alone for 10-15 or an hour though tbh. Hope this helps :)

Dammit, I had a nice reply typed up but I somehow closed the tab before pressing submit :[

Anyway! Im all about the 195C! I feel that its right before the herb starts to taste bad but right at the start of the "stoned" spectrum. I think theres a big taste difference between 195 and 200. I do enjoy starting bags at 190 though :) Back to the EQ now that im off work!
