...hey I squish about a gram..gram and a quarter...I have no gauge...check out high five rosin press..
...manual says don't do crazy things to add pressure...so just my strength...:)
...I do a pre-press with a herbal press I got on amazon...makes a huggge difference man...
hmmmm sounds like you have one of the smaller rigs there, not a hydraulic press setup? I'm eyeing off a hydraulic rig since I already have a press that can do small squishes up to a g or so ;)

...the smallest one...for what I need..personal use...it's great.
I'm using a similar size set of plates with similar pressure right now. Had it for a long time now but I am too busy to squish small amounts at a time, really need to be able to squish a quarter to a half zip at a time to make it time efficient for my needs. I definitely agree though for most the size press you got is ideal without spending more :)

Had a buddy set me straight and now realize a $500 budget won't cut it. D'oh!
Going to make some calls on Monday and see where it goes.

So, I'm really considering getting a rosin press. I'm mostly concerned about yield to price ratio. I want to pick up one of the 1/2 or 1 ton arbor presses from harbor freight, and I found a plate and controller combo for a 1/2 ton press for only $225 at cencalrosin. What sorts of yields could I expect using good quality high grade bud? Like 15-20% thc kind of flower? I understand that it varies greatly from material to material, but I'm really looking for a general idea here. So at say a 15% yield, for an eighth of bud, that's $40, only half a gram of rosin, maybe? That's $80 a gram. I can understand the appeal if you're in a non-legal state, or can grow your own, but otherwise, is it really that worth it?

Yeah, well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Haven't pressed a lot of flower, but I find trim yields anywhere from 5% - 15% when I go the dry ice sift route - so yes, it can vary quite a bit, but for the price I find it worth my time...

I spend $1/gram for trim (fairly average around here) so I can make rosin for ~$10-$15 a gram plus price of dry ice/parchment/pouches/time/power etc

...probably not for everybody ...but I'm really digging it...hard to say on yield because....there are many variables...some strains are better than others...15-20% ball park...I still use the flattened leftover..my press isn't for mass production uses..

The Beagle

Bubbles & Bags
Hi guys, sorry to quote myself but my post was the last of the page and got no answers so:

Growing my own weed I also have some trim from time to time and I always used to make QWET from it but would prefer to avoid having to deal with alcohol, stove, pans and so on, so I plan to squeeze my next run of trim and I was thinking about buying a pollen press to make trim pucks to make pressing easier. What do you think? Should I freeze the pucks before pressing them? Will they stay together once pressed or is it going to end in a mess? Any good practice to deal with pressed pucks?

Thanks and sorry again!

Hi beagle
I press all my trim in fact rosin changed how much I trim, you can press it into coins when you feel the moisture content is right.if there too moist they will spread when pressed if to dry they leave crumbs,I don't use screens. I pre press with a heavy bolt ramed inside pvc tube if required finger balling works fine. I've not got accurate scales but 6g of trim and under bud gives me 1g plus a second squirt :cool:
Edit don't freeze ime

Yup, been doing this for a very long time myself - works well but I still prefer bubble hash from well-kept trim :)

I usually cure my trim the same as my buds, would a rh around ~60% be good? Also how thick the puck to be hand pressed? I'll definitely try this after my next harvest, thanks for your help.
Trim is like flower in that it should be properly dried like flowers after harvest, then it should be stored in ~62% RH from then on. Trim spoils much more quickly than flowers, so use it or lose it!

This is my fork combustion brake press !
As I've been following the thread and the quest for more "pressure" goggle often offers the term "press brake" then the light came on :rofl:in my garage .
I've only used 1' plates so big pressure isn't hard to achieve, this provides plenty
With very little effort or cost .
This was 5 days of the plant @ 110c IMO moisture and temp are more important than pressure,I can blow out even with this but results are better and collection is Easier when the parchment is untainted ,as stated above a drop of water works great for the second press
Great work n good luck squashers

I'm a subsistence farmer so pull small qual-entities regularly, squishin the trim fresh fills a gap and allows the flowers time to cure. I pre puck bout half a gram at a time a marble size, fresh tends to be clear or budder, cured I get a more brittle gold:rockon:

Edit
Irish parliament passed a bill on medical cannabis cannabis last night, our ball has started rolling :peace::love:

Fire it again. I can still find the ground.
Has anyone ever heard of or know of anyone with any experience of the Pressie Heat Press?
I came across it today while viewing Vapefiend

I think the design is pretty cool.

I thought the psi was a tad low for the plate size compared to something I looked at, the High5 rosin press, that's 2000lbs on the same size plate, for only $300USD, this is "1300 to 1500 psi" on the same size plate for 499 pounds-sterling ($633 USD). (Sorry couldn't find my British $ symbols, ended up with scientific symbols...!)

There was also the heat difference, Pressie max is 300F and HIgh5 is 500F.

One big difference though I suppose, the High5 is a manual press. But apparently not a difficult one. Still, point to the Pressie I believe.

(Usual disclaimer - I shill for no one, sell for no one, take no kickbacks from anyone. You know. Dumb sh*t.)

But wait for the gurus here to chime in, too! :)

Peace!

It also comes with a built in E-nail to vaporize
your rosin ? That would add some value to this
Pressie . I like to wait and see some function reviews ...

It appears to simply be a re-brand of the press that High5 offers, which is no doubt a rebrand of it's own. Although depending on if High5 ships to the UK, that may be a cheaper option if that's the press you want.

I hope this is not too off topic, but what are rosin prices in your area?

I've seen concentrates in general in the $45 range in my home state. But I've never seen (commercial) rosin prices. Is solventless cheaper? More expensive?

I'm a caregiver and trying to justify spending enough to get a decent press, and not sure if I could make rosin economically for a handful patients, over just spending less on my own personal use.

I'm thinking if they try it, they'll like it. But for the most part, they're herb tokers.

Peace bud, missed you!

You are still in the big leagues, my friend. But if you feel like catching up on even *more* pages, we have a side discussion going on about mid-range priced rosin presses for home right now over here: http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/home-rosin-presses-under-750-school-me.23294/

Peace!
