The Extreme-Q Vaporizer

Hello Guys/Gals,

I have been lurking on here for quite some time now, and am getting my brother & sister-in-law their wedding gift - Extreme Q V4. :D

Been looking on-line and calling the local shops, and would MUCH rather give the local boys the business, even if more money.... BUT, they cant tell me if it is the most recent version of the Extreme Q (V4) :uhoh:

THey can tell me serial numbers, but its not an obvious way to tell from the sequence.... I have sent Arizer an email, but figured you guys could help me out quicker... as im in a bit of a time crunch before they go on their honeymoon and wanted to surprise them.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers!:peace:

I'm almost positive the E-Q v4 is the latest in this line. Arizer has put out at least one product since (the solo).

As far as what I have seen on here, I don't think there have been any modifications to the EQ since its release. I purchased mine about 10 months ago, and what is on their website looks like exactly the same as what was included then.

By the way, the Q = V4. V3 was just called the Extreme. I've read other things (in this thread IIRC), but am pretty sure the Q stands for Quiet according to Arizer.

It's your dime and sounds like time may be a concern, but it can be had from reputable dealers on here for $200 - 225, usually with a free gift or 2 - or other places for even less. I'd be leery to buy one on eBay or even Amazon given some of the troubles a few have had.

Dealer discounts for FC members can be found in this thread:

btw... Great wedding gift! If they're both into it they will LOVE this thing!

flotntoke,
Probably getting a Extreme Q vape soon, what adapters do I need to use with a water pipe? I know I need a 14 and 18.8 one for water pipe and one for bubbler.

Also how does it work with essential oils?

I comes with 2 18.8 elbows, so it's ready for your 18.8 GonG pieces out of the box. You would just need an 18/14 reducer for 14mm glass.

Essential oils work well with this vape. I put a cotton ball in the potpourri bowl and drip a few drops into the cotton with the fan on 1 and the temp at 50c. I made the mistake of dripping oils into the potpourri itself, and it dripped through the small hole and onto the heater. It took several weeks for the smell to go away, so I learned my lesson and will always use a cotton ball from now on.

:peace:

Stu,
Would it be better to get a 18/14 adapter or a straight 14 GonG elbow? It is a smaller toro bubbler so night trying to add a bunch of huge add ons.

Thanks Stu for the words of advice I will make sure to use a cotton ball. Does the potpourri bowl come with it or do I need to buy it?

Besides what it comes with is there any accessories I need to order with it?

I would get a 14mm to 18mm expander for your toro bubbler. The cotton balls are not included, but you can buy a bag of them that would last a lifetime at any drug store for just a couple bucks.

You will also need replacement tubing. I strongly recommend the silicone tubing. It can be found on Amazon and is not too expensive.

Better prices on silicone tubing from U.S. Plastics, a tuff bowl is also a good idea.

chucku,
I just got my extreme q and used it with a syn showerhead holy shit it was great. Warmed it up then hit it at 180 light smoke but wow did 3 hits started slow then went fast coughed a little too!

iammikehoncho,
So I know in advertising they claim a focus on build quality with this one. What is the build quality and longevity like according to users of the XQ? How long have you guys/girls had yours for? How about earlier products by Arizer?

Is it possible to get really thick air with the bags?

Does it stay fairly clean? How many bowls until any part of the unit starts smelling?

How easy is it to change the screen? Does it seal it off well? (I currently have a low budget vap, pain to change, and weed sometimes manages to fly around the edges of screen and into my lungs).

Hello, I have been using Arizer stuff for about 3 years now. I started on an Extreme V - Tower and the little bugger still vapes fine. I had to replace the heater cover assembly (15bux) recently because it started to crumble after I cleaned it. But after replacing it, the Vape is like new.
I bought the Extreme Q just because I wanted the new features and my buddy needed a vape (my old extreme) and it works like a dream.
Weed will never go around the screen and if it did it wouldnt make it to your mouth (if you use some kind of bong/bubbler/hitter) But no, never happens.

you have to be careful about dropping shit in the unit. After a while it will stink if you drop enough in there. Luckily it is fairly easy to open and clean. The hits are Milky and huge and super clean. Plus this thing is incredibly versatile. Does concentrates and oils like a breeze.

Phajik,
I ended up getting the extreme q and got it in last night and I love it. I never tried an ssv so i cant say the difference but this thing is great. I did a cyclone bowl half way full and warmed it up then backed it down to 180 hooked up my syn mini showerhead and got 3 nice hits I started slow then hit it hard. I even coughed a little on the 3rd hit from the amount of vapor. Also did a bag on the same bowl turned it up to 190 and did the fan on 1 til it was like 40% full then hit the fan to 3. Th bag was not super dense but was so nice, I emptied it over about 2 hours just taking hits as I wanted them.
I do not know if I have ever been that baked it was a different type than using a straight bong but so amazing. The bowl does not look like its fully done even. I think I can still get some goodness for a few whip hits.

I still need to get a 14mm adapter for my bubbler. I was wondering though can you use a ssv whip? Since it has a glass 18mm connection I figure yes and I might order one with their 14mm & 18mm adapter as they seem nicer and you can even get custom glass for it that way.

iammikehoncho,

Hey everybody,
I have always been interested in the extreme ever since I first began researching vaporizers back in my junior year of college. my first vaporizer ended up being the iolite followed by a volcano classic. I purchased a volcano after my first iolite unit malfunctioned due to my own mistake of using shitty butane. Even after owning the volcano, I remember reading so many awesome reviews about the EQ that I just wanted one so badly. Something about whip style vapes made so much sense for personal use, I also was trying to ween myself off of a bad cigarette habit and thought that the whip was a lot more like smoking a cigarette than volcano bags were. Eventually my girlfriends dad got a da buddha vaporizer and i got a chance to try it. I instantly fell in love with whip style vales and needed to get one of my own. I didn't like the fact that you could potentially blow pot back into the heating element of da buddha so I searched around a bit more. I found an awesome deal for the EQ on ebay for $160 or so and decided to just go for it. When it arrived in the mail, i was ecstatic and followed the directions. Instead of setting the temperature to what I would usually be using it at (190 C), I decided to run it at the max temperature. I remember reading somewhere that others have tried to burn off the excess materials on the heating element by running it on the max temp. Unfortunately, this destroyed my EQ unit. After letting run for 20 minutes at max temperature, it never heated up again at 170-190 C. I eventually contacted the ebay seller who redirected me to arizer who redirected me once again back to the seller. After a little fuss, the seller sent me a new unit. This time I set it to 180 C for the first 20 minutes and after that, it worked amazingly ever since. Although it does not come close to filling a bag as fast as the volcano does, I think the EQ has a few pros to it that the volcano doesn't. When i pack an elbow, I usually stuff it with some grounded up pot and then top it off with a small layer of kief. Running kief through the volcano is possible but it requires strategically layering in-between ground up pot. Kief works awesome through the EQ and it feels as if there is minimal waste through the whip and elbow pack. I have also done the same with hash and it works out really well also. Although I rarely use the EQ for party situations, I think it makes an awesome personal unit as well as a great unit to use with 1-2 other people. All in all, the EQ is an excellent vaporizer and I have enjoyed it thoroughly.

mycooltie,
HELP!!!! i just boughti think to be an "extreme-Q" vaporizer off of amazon. i paid alot less but now that my package has arrived i am wondering if i got ripped. The unit came and its a chrome finish!!! all the reviews of the extreme-Q show it as midnight-chrome did i get an old unit??? it came with a remote and is obviously not the V-tower model because it doesnt have the raised lines toward the top of the unit also it is short and compact like the Q. i am very skeptical and need some insight!!! i looks ligit but the chrome color is throwing me off.... please HELP

"midnight chrome" is a bit decieving, if you were expecting a black unit you will be thrown off, midnight chrome looks about like brushed aluminum but just a shade more gray

SF Giant,
yea all the pics and vids of the midnight chrome look almost see-thru thats what threw me off about the brushed aluminum look to this unit. so are there diffrent models of the Q or are they same? im confident its not a v-tower it looks like the q just a diffrent color. got it all warmed up trying to get myself to fire it up and vape those herbs!!

4 models exist overall imo.
Old V-Tower - no fan, no bags, no remote, power LED replaced the fan LED.
New V-Tower - V-Tower with EQ finish.
Extreme - old EQ, loudier, taller, different display, some internal changes.
Extreme Q - The EQ, shorter, darker, quiet, better display etc.

Both V-Tower and Extreme were made in old finish and now in the new "midnight chrome" finish.
V-Tower and Extreme with same finish look the same, only visual difference is the POWER/FAN label above the first LED.

Here is a nice look at the EQ with a Rain Tree attached. I always use the elbow pack method and this set up is extremely efficient use of herb IMHO.

Nice setup. Question, please . . . looks like you have ~1' from elbow to bubbler. Do you notice any heat (or any other) difference vs the longer whip? I'm using a similar setup to yours with my inline but I only shortened the tube to 2' - I'm sensitive to dry heat. OTOH, for efficiency, I expect that shorter = better?

Thanks!

Nice set-up, but I hate seeing those really cheap $10 ash-catches, they make me cringe :S

I don't get why you have the connector after the elbow to connect to more tubing.

Whenever I connect my EQ with any glass I use about 2', it's just all personal preference. I haven't had any extra heat from the vape if I use a much shorter tube (6-12"). Once it's filtered by the water it really helps cool it down, especially since the vapor is not that hot. The only efficiency you might gain when you shorten the whip is giving a very minimal decrease in vapor condensation in the tube, which shouldn't matter if you reclaim that goodness anyways :)

How did you connect the hose to the top of the rain tree? Just ram it in?

And then coming out of the rain tree just fit the hose over the barb and ziptie?

What exactly is the elbow pack method? Just cramming herbs into the little steel screen of the elbow?

whats the best way to clean the dome screen? I've been putting wax and amber ice in along with the bud, and it has been clogging the screen faster than usual. What's the best way to clean it?

although it's probably been discussed a zillion times, soak it in iso and then hot water rinse. Use a little brush if you need to.

oldiebutgoodie: the water cools it down so I don't notice any increase in temperature.

Theo: hey, that's no cheap Rain Tree, hand blown and locally made.... ;-) And yes, it's a "lazy man's connection" using the bag elbow, then a spare bag tube that came with the unit, and then to a spare piece of tubing....medical grade, of course. I should get an extra elbow just for this set up.

bvomit: no, i used a glasss on glass connection to the raintree and the other end of the adapter is made to fit tubing : http://www.vaporbrothers.com/pages/products/access.html

KeepItLit: I just keep a jar of Everclear around. I drop my screens and Solo bats (with screens inserted) into them for a while, remove and rise with filtered water. The Everclear is gaining a nice warm golden glow to it ;-)
