The Extreme-Q Vaporizer

I read some ppls saying that 160 - 165 C is ideal. I loaded up a little over a gram after preheating it for 15 minutes. I started sucking away and didn't get anything but taste. I adjusted the temp to like 190 and after sucking long and hard I got some vapor. I'm def feeling really good and am rambling on so it's obviously taking effect. But I've seen some videos with the Heat Wand of DEATH and I think purple days too where the vapor is MILKY. So what do you reccommend I do for that? Higher heat? Breathe in longer?
Congrats on your EQV! 1g seems excessive. I find 3.5-5g, halfway to the black rim or a tad more, works best. Preheat herb in cyclone @ 220-230c for 8-10 minutes. Drop to 205c, add whip, and start toking. I like the fan on F1. Experiment with toke style... short, sustained, in and out, etc.

What I find unique about the EQV is it's designed to "percolated" the herb in the cyclone bowl. When you work it right you can see it vaporize.

Congrats anctious. It definitely is a nice vape for home use (although I've taken it camping once and plan to about 10 or more times this year). I'm using the Extreme just prior to the EQ

Might want to drop the 1g to 0.3-0.5 (as others have said). I don't know your tolerance or why you're using herb so that's only a guess.

I use the whip in one of 2 ways; both giving me very different highs. This is with ~0.3-0.5g

1) Preheat to 210C for 10 minutes or so, with the last 2 minutes blowing air on setting 3. Then drop it to 140C, load my herb and wait a few minutes. Then it's almost formulaic. Take a good hit every 5 minutes until you've had 4 hits (so 20 minutes for the first temp. Remove the whip, lightly stir the bowl with the glass pokey thing, up the temperature by 10C and repeat.

140C 20 minutes
150C 40 minutes
160C 60 minutes
170C 80 minutes
180C 100 minutes
190C 120 minutes
200C 140 minutes
210C 160 minutes

At this point, the herb goes into the ABV stash.

This gives me almost immediate joint pain relief followed by an extremely 'up' high (mind racing, wanting to do something, euphoric). Around 180C complete anxiety reduction. Followed closely by calmness, sedation as I up the temperature. If you space out the temperature changes you can feel the different effects. I do not use this type of vaping after eating edibles (bad grammar I know) because I find the body high from the edibles magnified uncomfortably.

2) Preheat to 210C. Wait for 10 minutes, with the last 2 blowing on fan speed 3. Drop the temperature to 190C. Load your herb and wait a few minutes. Hit every 5 minutes, and after 4 hits, stir with the pokey. Repeat hitting and stirring. Stop when it does not taste good any more. This depends on hiw much you initially load (the more you load the longer this one will go).

This is what I consider a full spectrum vape high. You get all of the effects I described above (and more), but all at once. And you can't separate the effects :) You can be anxious, hungry, lethargic, brimming with ideas, intro/retrospective all at once. And then you can get easily distracted. And then find you're tired. You get the picture; a more rapidly swirling stone. But easily done on top of edibles because you are getting some cannabinoids that are sedating and anxiety reducing to boot

Hope this gives you some ideas.

@ Tom... Have to try method 2. Haven't used fan during warmup. Do you use fan when you toke?

It occurred to me (despite the digital readout) that the sweet spot might vary 5 or 10 degrees +or-, unit to unit. I find my EQV sweet spot seems to be 205-210c for examples. Especially since the readout isn't the actual herb temp.

Wow! Thanks for the awesome welcome and advice. There apparently are some hardcore vape kung fu geniuses here. Haha. After some experimenting, I found that I got the best results when allowing the essences to vaporize for 5 minutes or so on 230. I've been learning that there can be quite a science to this! As masterfully articulated by tdavie - thanks! I'm going to definentaly give your recipe a try throughout the weekend. Your post should be some sort of 101 sticky - eh admins?

Also another quick question - what's the definitive tell that the herb is exhausted?

@anctious I use to use the fan when using the whip; it really helps to cool things down nicely. Now I use the fan only when filling bags. One of my dogs (Cairn Terrier) jumped at the Extreme, knocking it over when I was filling up a bag....so I don't use it so much at the moment (maybe when she grows up :) ).

I don't have a really good idea of when the herb is 'spent' because I purposely let it go longer so I have something left over for edibles. But people look for burnt popcorn taste, harshness which starts to approach smoking (at the higher temperatures) and perhaps a slight change in colour of the vapor. Someone said vapor had a slight blueish tinge to it?

Yep, you're right about the temperature ranges/settings for each machine. My numbers might not work for you. Sounds like you're having fun working things out :)

Testing this method out right now with some of my best meds...only about ~5 hits in (I lost count...so its working...haha) and I think I like it more then the elbow at this point. It does taste a little better...little smoother. Clouds are not as thick as the elbow, but I think I feel a little bit more medicated then with the elbow for some reason.

Needs further evaluation though.

Hey guys,

Any links out there for "specialty" glassware that'll work with the extreme q?

I asked earlier about tubing replacement(larger diameter), not to bump, but I'd still like to know.

Thanks

Anctious-
I've found the herb can taste really good at 165-175. You won't get much 'milk' but the taste is definitely there. You'll get your THC head 'high' but it will take a while to feel it sink in(it will sneak up on you).

I generally will do that a bit if I just want to get the high.

When I want to get the painkiller properties of the herb(and couchlock), I will start at 220 and work up to 260. You will certainly get the the milk affect you're looking for if you just start right off at 240.

Hello everyone. I just ordered my Extreme Q 4.0 and I'm wanting to get a water bong attachment? I don't like the pipes as much.. :p. I read on the forums you can standardly use an 18mm bong for the E Q.. but I don't know where to find one online after searching for a while. I just want a semi-cool looking bong instrument to go with it, I can get the adapter piece if I have to.. although I'm not sure which size to get. Any tips leading me in the proper direction would be great ;)

Any bong will work as long as it is made for an 18mm bowl. Thats what the elbow is on the EQ and that is what goes into the down stem of the piece.

I love using the bag more than anything else.

On another note, I have decided instead of trying to clean the tubing, I just want to buy a bulk amount of the food/medical grade tubing. I see on my 3 foot whip that the inner diameter is 5/16 and the outer diameter is 7/16; however, an authorized seller of Extreme Q's said their kits have 1/4 inner diameter and 3/8 outer diameter. Can anyone give me definitive answers and also the best place to buy the bulk tubing online? Thanks!

Hey everyone, I just received my Extreme Q yesterday, I am really happy with it.

A few questions:

1) When you guys say you heat it up before using, are you simply heating the unit or with the bowl and weed?

2) Is it bad to leave it heated with weed in it if I'm not at the moment using it? Like, say I load a bag and walk outside, should I leave it on or turn it off?

Thanks!

1. I usually let everything (cyclone bowl and elbow) heat up for about 5-10 minutes and then pack the elbow.

2. I have accidentally left it running all day and never had an issue.

Now another question: I'm looking to buy a bong to hook up to my extreme q and I've decided on the bong (Weed Star slick rick). I'm planning on buying 3ft of tubing and 2 elbows from KJ Rockwise so I can have a dedicated setup for the bong. Does this sound suitable? Are there any potential issues with the drag caused by the width of the tubing/elbows?

Thanks

photobooth, if u heat up the unit and empty cyclone bowl for 5-10 mins, untill u feel the bowl is hot to touch, u should be good to go, no need to heat the herbs. Some people preheat their herbs. If you do, 1-2 mins is max i find, will give u a slightly thicker first and second hit, but u will notice some vapour escaping, and the herb looses flavour quickly if preheated to long.

Connecting to a Bong

There are a few ways to connect to a water pipe. Firstly u can use a grommet (those rubber seals used for bong downstems) to put on the mouth piece of the whip/bag, which acts as a rubber seal between the vape/bong. This is not the best method however. Making a seperate whip with an elbow on each end is helpful (and neat) but is not necessary as u can put the small bag elbow on the whip mouthpiece and make your own double elbowed whip (see below). The male joints on the extreme elbows are 18.8 mm, so this is what size female joint you want your bong/downstem to have. If you have a bong that is 14.4 mm you can use the above grommet method. Drag can sometimes be an issue with a water pipe, depends on the type of bong, smaller straigt tubes have much less than say a large beaker bong. Smaller bongs are also better for those with smaller lungs as you dont have to fill the bong with one toke, then inhale your vapour/clear the bong in the second. The slick rick is a perfect starter bong for sure, its downstem has an 18.8 mm joint, has a resonable volume, and is cheap (only around 25 euros). U might want to invest a few more dollars in the slick rick ice, as it is nice to use ice to really cool your vapour down, but its not a necessity (although i know many people on here use only ice in their bongs with no water, which works great too). IIDXBoss i have no clue where your 95mm to 19mm conversion came from, extreme elbows are 18.8 mm, this is the size you want your bong to be.

Sorry this should be flintrock's second pic in post #839 on this page. Look up bong conection inquirers! Pic is dark but shows the whip/small bag elbow connection.

Needed to get a replacement hose for my v.3 so I went to Crazy Bill's today (great shop) and Mara showed me what Arizer's now stocking w the XQ.

Da-yum!!! That hose is waaaay nicer...and larger diameter...than what came w my v.3.

And the new elbows! Fuzzuck!!!!! Much much nicer than the original elbows, much better welds. A little taller too! Not that that means anything, but they just look great!

I remember reading something about aftermarket parts that work with the Extremes, but this stuff looks and feels quality.

If only they'd make the elbow thimbles a little deeper so I can pack more in!

Oh, just curious, but anyone else use a really short length of tube when connecting to a bong?

That's all I do now - well-ground bud in thimble, v.3 set to 180-200 (maybe 220 near bedtime), 15" tube, to my little bong via GonG elbow/slide and then baby it's do three thimbles and call me in the morning...
