How long do you hold your vapor in?

My general reasoning--which is more emotional than scientific--is that holding hits in while smoking is really bad because I'm forcing harsh heat and carcinogens onto my lungs, and not allowing it to leave. I don't really know how realistic this is, but I just imagine little grimy smoke molecules clinging to everything and never leaving. Ugh.

But vapor is such a pure and beautiful gas that an extra inhale is an extra inhale of goodness, and the steam that is vapor is benign to our lungs as far as I know.

I'm sure you are familiar with reclaim and residue building up on your glass and vapes. This stuff is condensing on the surface of your lungs in a similar manner. Don't think that vapor is a health panacea...its just WAY better than smoking and I personally believe we should give some thought on how to vape with minimal impact to health which to me means no longer holding it in as long as possible.

Just my :2c:

I've realized that Vapor is a lot more potent than smoke.

My dogs do not get high off smoke, but Vapor will get them really good. Especially if the room is full of it.

This makes me feel like holding it in longer will produce a bigger effect, what does FC think?

I know that since most of it is active, when we exhale, isn't much of it active?
As far as biological function goes the vapor is absorbed immediately. The idea of holding it is antiquated (like me) combustion smoking and does nothing for you with vapor. Any increased sensation is simply oxygen deprivation. This topic was brought up at a medical (real doctors) round table and discussed at length. I'm pretty confident in that group's opinion.

Saw this link posted in an older thread

https://www.researchgate.net/public...f_varying_puff_volume_and_breathhold_duration

It's an older study, and uses smoked joints to administer THC, but the results show that THC absorption is increased by holding your breath up to a maximum of 10 seconds, and that holding any longer did not increase THC levels in the bloodstream. However, the 7 participants did not indicate any increase in the subjective high nor was there any change in psychomotor performance when puffs were held in. The participants were all regular users.

I'd like to see this study using vapor and a larger sample size. It seems to me that a joint wouldn't be the most consistent ROA, sure the results would probably be similar to vapor, but in the name of science and fucking combustion the study should administer via vapor!

I'm in the re breathe circle... pull in vapor, then pull in a bit of fresh air behind the vapor- hold up to 5 secs and then start to breathe out. because you initially pull in air behind the hit, once you breathe out it could be a few secs before the visible vapor is seen, when you see it breathe back in a few secs then exhale again doing this a few times until no more visible vapor is seen on the exhale... I think you want as much oxygen as possible in the air space mixed with the vapor to keep fresh absorption capability at a maximum.

as to re using vapor I've seen where someone used a volcano bag and blew his exhaust into it for his girlfriend to later inhale and get high so it works just with extra carbon monoxide from the exhale...

When my first acquaintances with the steam I kept it short, only 2 for 3 seconds, but then I do not remember where it is necessary to keep the read as much as 10. That's what I'm doing until now and I think when smoking is necessary to hold for 3 seconds and with vaporization, effects at the same time become more powerful.

What a great thread. I hold my vape in longer than I should. I'm getting on in age.
And have COPD pretty good. Life is interesting, I'm ill and still waiting for my loaf
Of banana bread and a gm of Green C, wonderful shatter that I ordered today.
Very good bread. Deliveries by 7:00 topps.
