The 2016 Presidential Candidates Thread

It was a MEDIA production. For the Media, promoted by the Media.
HRC will win when she learns to talk to us instead of at.
Trump would have been better served by hiring a Mexican wearing a Mr Robot mask..
I thought he flooded the entire debate with mumbling under breath comments. Sounded like Popeye. Or your crazy uncle at Thanksgiving.

Debates.. no comment.

You all really need to start wondering what is in the Sept 13 DNC leaks that has them all panicked enough for Nancy Pelosi to reach out to Paul Ryan and the RNC with this request, back in July, because they are working together now to keep it buried tight.

Rep. Nancy Pelosi Urges Republicans To Not Use DNC Leak Information
"Democrats and Republicans must present a united front in the face of Russia's attempts to tamper with the will of the American people," Pelosi wrote.

Fuck me. The DNC and the RNC are working together now? "Nancy, you got some esplaining to do..."

And then there is this. Tying to get media to cooperate. From the FBI 189 page report saying they are batting .250-300 so far. I'd say they are batting nearly 1000 now.

http://observer.com/2016/06/guccifer-2-0-leak-reveals-how-dnc-rigged-primaries-for-clinton/

"The DNC confirmed the hack and hasn’t denied the authenticity of the documents released. The Party has, however, continued to propagate that the hack was deployed by the Russian government—perhaps because the information that was released is far more revealing than just opposition research."

It's about national election fraud and it's coming out. Why the hell wait till after the election?

The fix is in.

Guccifer 2.0 has been on twitter, taking requests for leaked docs these last few weeks.

It ain't the Russians people. It's a leak from within the DNC..

What more proof do you need to wake up? Don't believe me, go look for yourself. I have posted the links here already..

Are we complaisant, lazy or just scared of the truth? Is it really better to find out after it's too late? After the election?

"Biased sources" they will shout..

They are all fucking biased now... I say...

This story broke last night.

Personally, I want the media to talk about it now, not later.

Everyone needs to be accountable and election fraud is no different( I think it's worse really) than pay to play.

We were robbed. It's clear now.

Burn it all down. Start fresh.

The media have been talking about it, so what do you want burnt down? what else do you want to happen? what is the ultimate outcome you would like to see? What would the appropriate response be?

Both of them jokers lied to everyone watching the debates. Gary Johnson and Jill Stein should have both been included! What would it have hurt? Maybe all four of them would have lied to everyone as well. Maybe not.

The election is basically between two people. Bernie unfortunately isn't in the election any longer. He will be trying to get Hillary elected because the alternative is so awful.

The primary is over and done with. We have our choices and you need to be able to pick the best one. It doesn't do any good crying about what would or could have been.

Get behind a candidate early and get involved, that is your best strategy for next time.

Trump showed how horrible he can be over the last year. Just the past few months Trump has tried to act presidential but it doesn't last very long.

Trump is complaining that the moderator wasn't that great and his microphone wasn't working. Better get out the forensics. How predictable he is?

Make sure you get out and vote.

Edit
Trump wouldn't admit to sniffling. That was so obvious. So what if he had a cold, big deal. He's making himself look bad and that's fine with me. I guess he's so perfect he doesn't get colds.

He will probably get the big guns out next time. He's probably calling Roger Ailes today.

Yes Trump did say climate change was a hoax invented by the Chinese. He said it on Twitter.

So Trump is back to this again, eh?

Six months ago, it was a faulty earphone that caused issues with the whole David Duke fiasco and now he's complaining about a faulty microphone?

What's really at fault here is the organ in his head that is trying to process the information that is entering through his ears.

so if it's not media, what's your point? Is it that it's more valid than the media or less valid?

Are you kidding me now?

Yes, the 3 sites that are brave enough to expose the truth are more valid than all the other site colluding to conceal the truth. Fuck yes

It's more like "invasion of the body snatchers/idiocracy thread than "whoa is me" thread.. lol

IMO HRC won the debate but not by a large margin. I think the debates are just entertainment for democrats and republicans who have already been following along because the debate didn't expose anything 'new' or move their needle for them.

It's the undecided that the debates may affect decision wise. I can't help but wonder....'If someone was still undecided before the debate they probably didn't spend any time educating themselves so what's the chance they'll take the time to vote anyway'?

IMO HRC got a little flustered in the first 15 to 20 minutes when Trump took the gloves off but regained her composure when she recognized that her own attack was causing Trump to become 'angry' and 'reactive'. You could almost see her relief and composure kick in when she realized he was losing his own composure.

I hope HRC doesn't continue with the 'He didn't pay any taxes' barb because his response that 'It's because I'm smart' rings true in my head. I don't know anyone who doesn't set out to pay as little as possible. You are allowed to avoid taxes but you are not allowed to evade taxes. I also hope that the next time HRC is faced with a known truth like the 'Gold Standard' statement that she owns it rather than add to the trust issue. Before anyone points out that Trump is way worse than HRC when it comes to lying......the point is not to be the candidate that lies the least.

I can't wait for the next debate!

It's important that all of us pay our fair share of taxes rich people need to pay more. The fact that Trump probably doesn't pay anything really pisses me off. That is something that needs to change. It's not right.

There needs to be a new rule in place that a presidential candidates needs to show his or her taxes. Very important if a candidate deals with other countries like Trump. Who knows who he is beholden to?

The "Fair and Balanced" Faux News commentators are making trump like comments about HRC.
This Fox News host's comment about Hillary Clinton has the internet in an uproar

"She looked, I think, for the most part, she looked composed, smug sometimes, not necessarily attractive."

Many deemed Hume's comment on Clinton's attractiveness unnecessary and sexist, especially in a presidential debate.

Stay Classy Brit Hume.

This is exactly like arguing for man made climate change in a room full of science denier's..

I got better things to do I guess Kim.

If enough of you keep ganging together to attack me, it will make it easier for the mods.

fair share of taxes

Well, that's the crux of the issue and always has been. What's "fair" to one is not viewed as "fair" by another.

The top 1% of taxpayers pay a higher effective income-tax rate than any other group (around 23%, according to a report released by the Tax Policy Center in 2014) — nearly seven times higher than those in the bottom 50%. Meanwhile, those in the bottom 40% of the income spectrum end up getting money from the government while the richest 20% of Americans pay nearly 87% of all the income tax collected by the Federal Government.

http://www.marketwatch.com/story/45-of-americans-pay-no-federal-income-tax-2016-02-24

In 2013, the top 50% of earners paid 97.22% of all Federal taxes collected. The bottom 50% paid 2.78%.

http://www.ntu.org/foundation/page/who-pays-income-taxes

I believe that these are objective facts.

The idea of "fair" is usually presented as taxes as a percentage of total income by those who wish for a more punitive tax structure for successful earners (often described as the misappropriated word "progressive) while "fair" is usually presented as absolute dollar amounts and percentage of total Federal taxes paid by those who do pay most of the taxes in this country.

It is, and always has been, about whose ox is going to be gored. If you are a successful earner, you may well deeply resent paying an out-sized portion of all taxes collected, particularly insofar as you are not as likely to be a high consumer of Federal social program largess. If you are a low earner and consume a significant amount of Federal social program $$, then you will tend to view this issue in terms of your percentage of wages paid as taxes and you will see fair/unfair very differently.

There is, IMO, no absolute definition of fair being bandied about in any of these public conversations on taxes. Its just a matter of who pays and who receives and votes are cast accordingly as its my personal observation after 64 years of life that people generally vote their self-interest (i.e. what is the impact to me...or "what's in it for me", to put it more bluntly) rather than on the basis of some sort of social/political philosophy or the broader interests of the country.

Cheers

Those who are able to get more out of our society should likewise be expected to put more back in. While an individual should get to benefit from their work and ingenuity; they had help. They didn't succeed in a vacuum by themselves. Only religious folks believe in a being who could do otherwise.

There is fair and then there is also what is practical. We have information about what has worked in the past. Counting on phantom growth from slashing taxes on the wealthiest has always been a fool's game. Trickle-down/supply-side nonsense was always a ridiculous myth.

It's also important to note that we don't have to gouge everyone who makes more than a few bucks to be successful. A few moves to increase revenue from the wealthiest individuals and corporations (mostly by closing loopholes they shouldn't have had in the first place rather than actually raising all their rates by some historically grand number) along with perhaps spending less on our military machine would make a huge difference.

EDIT: It's very surreal to me that the guy who spends all his time in this thread obsessing about Clinton's e-mails while ignoring everything wrong with Trump (the candidate who is the climate-change denier, in fact) is the one who thinks he is playing the reasonable role.

To me, it's not surreal at all. The fact is is that Trump supporters and Clinton supporters are viewing everything that they see and hear through totally different prisms and filters. I have do doubt that Trump supporters think that it is totally surreal how Clinton supporters could possibly support her.

And for those that are straddling the fence, they have both sets of prisms and filters that they interchange at will and they do so sometimes successfully but at other times they fumble trying to find the one that they want to use at any given moment.
