Vaping while having a cold

Anyone do this? When I'm sick there's nothing like a good ol' vape session to make me feel real nice. Only problem is when I get a cold I usually have problems with my throat / chest and the vaping doesn't seem to help @ all... but I just can't stop! Anyone think this is bad?

Who else vapes when they are sick?

Vaping can be a very irritating experience for your lungs, but definitely not as irritating as smoke!

The vapor is hot and dry, potentially making your lungs feel worse afterwards. You can avoid this by using a water pipe to decrease the temperature of the vapor. Alternatively, you can use steaming water to add moisture to the vapor in the water pipe.

I haven't had a cold since starting to vape, but over 10 years ago when I smoked ciggy's I still used to smoke when having a cold. So I imagine I'll vape when having a cold.

I vape ALL day whenever I'm sick.

I load my regular PD bowls but take 1/2 sized hits, zero irritation.

A common cold for myself lasts 3-4 days, when I used to smoke cannabis, that would turn the cold in 1-2 weeks (sometimes even up to a full month). Vaping seems to have zero effect, I still recover in the same 3-4 period... but it's MUCH nicer, foods easier to eat, sleep is easier and most importantly lying in bed all day is actually fun :D

i was sick yesterday (cough, runny nose, body aches, chills) and i suffered the whole day. about 8 pm i decided to vape. yeah, i coughed more that i normally would, but i felt 100% better after i vaped. my body aches were gone and even my nose seemed to run less. i'm convinced that vaping is the cure for the common cold. :2c:

I've been really ill since christmas day. It felt like I was hit with a truck when i woke up on Christmas morning.

It's the first time i've been ill like this since i've vaped and i've found it almost impossible to take a hit from the PD. However I have been able to combust in my old water pipe.

Probably if i had a bong to use with PD like others have said it would make it easier to take. Its the dry warm air that really gets my cough going.

Must say though, yesterday I started with the nausia thing, and was throwing up. However the grass really did help stop the sickness in it's tracks.

I've been sick since about Christmas, too. Mostly just head cold, congestion, and a lot of fruitless coughing; thankfully no nausea. Cannabis has always helped my nausea tremendously when I need it though.

You say you have a water pipe, but apparently not one that you can use your PD with? Why not?

I use my PD on my small 1' bong with a standard downstem. The PD vape stem fits nearly perfectly in it, but I found that using a grommet, the same kind that holds the downstem into the bong, I can achieve almost flawless suction without air-leaks. I run the grommet around the vape stem, just far enough to make a good connection when I press it up against the bong downstem.

I use the same grommet setup for my roommates' "naturally aspirated" stemless, glass-on-glass bong. I don't know the diameter of the joint, but I can squeeze the grommetted vape stem into the glass-on-glass joint perfectly.

Just give it a little wiggle to clear the bong. It's also worth noting that I keep my three PD stems in a rotation: one with the grommet, one without, and one soaking in alcohol =]

I know that even vapor irritates the throat and lungs, as I have asthma issues and lung issues.
This is why even though I only vape a few hits a day at most (except if I'm "partying" with a friend or something), I try to always run the vapor through cold water. Cold water adds moisture and coolness to the vapor which is a big help. I haven't got the tubing I need to use water with my Myrtlezap yet, but I'm going to be getting it asap.

I read that marijuana is an expectorant and I do find that after vaping I can cough up some mucous that is usually just sitting there in my throat (I have chronic sinusitis, too, so mucous tends to sit in my throat). So overall, I think marijuana is healthy for me (and anyone with a cold) as long as you a) cool and moisten the vapor through water, and b) don't vape very much at one sitting. (Take light hits.)

That's my :2c:
