Discontinued VapeXhale Cloud EVO

Herb gardener...
I figured to clean the bamboo I would plug the bottom, then fill with iso, plug the top, give a little shake, then rinse with warm, distilled water, via pipette or syringe.....

No????

I got my ht surprisingly filthy in the days that I had it.....

But it cleaned up to new with some iso/shake/warm distilled water treatment..... had to be sent back clean.....

It will get the dirtiest above the chamber, nearer the ELB. You can clean that area with a
q-tip/iso. How often will of course depend upon your material and usage. If you don't see barely anything on the q-tip, you're probably doing it more frequently than necessary. Follow the same guideline for the bottom section below the chamber. Giving the entire bamboo an iso bath is typically only needed very infrequently.

You will likely be doing this more often if you use the EVO inverted because residual vapor will waft up the bamboo.

I gave the bamboo a good clean with a cotton wool bud (as we know them), before returning, and was surprised at how much residue was removed....

I wouldn't be soaking the whole bamboo on regular occasions, I would just like to know for my piece of mind, that it can be deep cleaned this way....

Now I know this is just a sealed glass tube, I'm happy I can clean it no matter what....

But as you point out, a 'q tip', will be suitable for most occasions....

Thank you.....

I am one of those with repeated replacements. And from my experience, I could say these units reliability kept slowly getting better. Each of my units was better then the previous.
The first two were bad, the second two were good.

First was an original Cloud plus. It got too hot to hold even by the bootm after 30min (which was normal for these metal units).
Its LED colors didn't make sense and the build was fucked up, the enclosure had gap and was pushing on the bamboo and that stress eventually killed it after a year.

The second unit was the first international EVO. The batch that burned out. I was probably extremely lucky to keep that one working for another year before it burned itself down.

The third one was ok. Never did anything dangerous like the second one, and I believe it could serve forever if I didn't break it. Only negative could be random frequent shutdowns with various error sequences on the LEDs.

The current fourth one is even better, better bamboo shape, less shutdown and haven't seen some LED error sequences that the fhird one did yet. HOpe I don't break this one as the previous, this could also serve forever. All of the previous ones lasted about a year. But a good unit could last forever if you don't break it.

I'm busting the EVO out today :) haven't used it in a while but it's been on the mind, got some Mango Kush that tastes scrumptious in the Sticky Brick so I can only imagine EVOland!!!
Is something wrong with me?
I like to plug in = CIVILIZED
PORTABLE = UNCIVILIZED

I tested both and PLUG-IN was far more effective?

Plus I hate batteries. (very lame)

If I was a young gun I would just smoke JOINTS?

The EVO blow's away portable's according to my testing?

I'll often unplug my evo and bring it to my GF in the next room just so she can get a hit.

Then I bring it back and plug it in...It works perfectly fine for 1-2 hits. I haven't tested beyond that before plugging it back in!

This confuses me. If you use iso to occasionally clean the entire bamboo, how do you rinse that out? Now, I admit I do this cleaning about only every blue moon, but I have done it as have others posting here, I know others here use this method. Would you please elaborate?

:myday::hmm:
Guessing you use small amounts and it evaporates from the heat? I only ever use a q tip to go in from the top and clean a little after dabs and all the ISO evaporates very quickly if I do this when the EVO is even slightly warm. I'm not sure about taking out the whole bamboo..? Like from the bottom? I wouldn't wanna take that apart haha I feel like that would be scary

The bamboo is a sealed tube right?
Surely there is no danger?
The danger is real. The water could very easily overflow into the unit.
You have to be extremely careful.
You shouldn't pour any liquid to the bamboo directly from a bottle, much safer is to preload a tiny bit of liquid into a cup and then empty that into the bamboo through a funnel.
The bamboo has very little volume and the liquid won't flow easily through the restrictions, so that restricts the maximum volume of liquid you can pour in even more.
When the liquid is in, plug both ends and shake.
You also have to be careful when emptying the liquid, remove plugs when they are on the bottom and the turn the unit after you dry the glass ends, so no strys drop of water could make it down into the unit.
Before turning the unit on, pull hard through both ends to get out as much liquid as possible and then I would recommend turning the heat up slowly. Don't even wait for green at minimum temp.
Dry it slowly.

If I hear shaking or glass noises while shaking my evo (nothing attached to it) it likely means the glass in the middle is broken?

True or False?

What I have done: Put a cork in the bottom, used an eye dropper with the iso into the joint, allowed to drain down till filled to top orifice, then gently turned up/down a little so it flowed in/out of the chamber. Uncorked bottom and allowed to drain out. Repeated with water. Air dried overnight.

That said, as I think more about this and re-read @Seek's post, I like the idea even less, and I never really liked it in the first place. I've only done this a couple times, and I doubt I'll do it again. Upon reflection, I've never seen enough build-up in the chamber to justify the risk (maybe someone else has had a different experience?). IME at least it really should be sufficient to just use the q-tip/iso above and below the chamber; use water on another couple q-tips to clean out the iso, then air dry. I would never ever turn the unit on while doing this.

@kellya86, while the bamboo is sealed, liquid could enter through the screen around the joint. Yes, if extreme care is used as @Seek advises, this can be done safely. As I wrote above, I have done it. IMO it is probably unwise unless there is clearly a need. Keep in mind that with normal use only air flows thru that chamber, and the bottom chamber, for that matter. Where you will see build-up is immediately below the joint/ELB.

I should have given more thought before my previous post, which I have now removed. Mea culpa. :freak:

Thanks @Seek for the re-calibration.

Maybe, maybe not. The best way to test if the bamboo is intact is to put your finger tightly on the bottom and then test whether you can suck/blow air thru the joint. If it is airtight, not likely the glass is broken. If I heard an unnerving noise and the bamboo is airtight, I would inquire to VXL support.

The only time I had to deep clean the bamboo was when I got a lot of oil down in it from testing the nails. I had no choice because it was completely blocked and soiled. One member mentioned putting a balloon on the bottom end, loading a little ISO, and then another balloon on the top so you could move the fluid back and forth inside the bamboo. I never tried the balloons but it seemed like an elegant solution.

When moving fluid back and forth, if you are using your fingers to block both ends, you may get a little ISO down through the crumb shield into the heater bay. Hopefully not enough to penetrate the electronics bay. This MUST be completely gone before turning on your EVO. Time will evaporate it, be patient if this happens to you.
