Wow OF - thank you so much for your lengthy reply. I'll try to answer point by point.
Someone on this thread told you "just bang it"???? I completely missed that advice I guess, I surely would have commented on it, that's mighty lame advice to be giving IMO. Just what sort of problem could the guy giving the advice be expecting to fix that way? This is not Aunt Bee's old time tube radio, "spit in the back and whomp it a good 'un" isn't appropriate advice. I suggest you stop banging it unless you want to make it worse.......
Can't say for sure I read that advice on this thread, as I was just googling around. I admit I did try it, though it was just banging it against my hand as I did not want to risk breaking it. It did work to a certain extent - it went from all lights flashing to all lights solid- LOL!

You should have fully charged it before use, assuming you did that was normal? Now the battery is flat and it won't heat any more? Normally plugging it in should cause the top ("Charge") light (alone) to flash. As the battery charges up the seven LEDs below it should 'step up one after the other over a few hours. After that you should get 'a session per light' more or less on a full charge. On turn on it should flash the battery condition (one or more steps) briefly before getting down to business, that's worth keeping track of.
Well I did not fully charge it prior to giving it a try... I did plug it in though so it would charge while vaping. I used it twice while charging, and once while unplugged. Plugged it in to charge overnight and went to bed. Got up this morning, unplugged it, and vaped a session. During 2nd session it turned off. Plugged it in and tried to turn it on and wouldn't. Ended up with all lights flashing. (Then the above advice and on to all lights steady on).

I assume you don't have a second charge source, either another mains charger or a car charger to try, some guys have reported success with a different outlet to plug the 'wall wort' into. Plug strips have a bad history here, several guys reported plugging it in directly fixed the issue. You might try that
No I only have the charger it arrived with yesterday. I have tried it on a power strip, and extension, and direct to wall - hasn't made a difference.

I don't have the ability to test voltage and stuff - all sounds Greek to me. Right now I'm assuming it has some charge as something is providing power to all these lights that are on. I tried the reset procedure before it became completely unresponsive and it didn't do anything. I would like to try to disconnect the battery and see if that would reset it, but I am unable to get these little screws out. I have the right screwdriver but I'm afraid of stripping them as they're really tight, and I would like to get an exchange on this one day old unit.

I have contacted the seller and hope to get a response soon. It will be going back for sure, but it would be lovely if I was somehow able to get it working enough to vape for the few days before it goes back in its box and heads out for replacement or repair.

I think this is a counterfeit .
That would be my guess .

Sadly, PM may have it. He's got the edge here, it's a domestic product to hm (made in Canada......like he was?). As we've said before it doesn't make sense that a unit made in Canada would show up 'on the cheap' half way around the world. A vape made in China might show up there any number of ways (and be the genuine article) but you would not expect a maker or distributor to export them into China so they could sell them one at a time on the Internet.

If you poke back on the Air thread I posted my experience buying a 'too good to be true' deal on and Arizer Air (in fact I'm looking at it). IMO it could easily fool a guy who wasn't exactly clear on the fine details of the real Air. Things like the lights being too bright compared with the genuine ones (which seems to be pretty common amongst various fakes?). "Know your dealer" was once the rule with black market herb dealers, I think it's still good advice here. Randy at PIU, PV and the rest of our 'Sponsor Dealers' are safe bets and merit our support for the way they support us.

Back to our problem unit, genuine or not it once worked. Assuming it's a more or less direct copy it's going to likely have the same (or similar) response to 'hardware problems'. My money's still on the charger, if the unit is counterfeit, it too has to be? While failures of the genuine charger are quite rare (anyone recall any?), a substitute one is a new case?

Sounds like the Dealer is the first call? If he'll replace the unit we have anew hand ot play out. And this one did work normally (at least normally enough) to give hope there? Otherwise we're back to the problem we've faced before, Arizer has used a connector for 12 VDC that's not normally rated for that voltage, 12 Volt 'wall worts' are very rare indeed with this connecdtor. However, as we've discussed before, the standard (5.2mm) connector normally found on 12 VDC gear can be convereted with either of these adapters:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EZDO400/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EZIR330/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I've tested both, and confirmed they work in this application. They are basically the same, the second one costs slightly more while the first comes with nine free spares....... Yes, the second is more than ten times as much each. I've no idea how stuff like that happens, but it does? Easy way to a second charger, including a '12 Volt car cord' for a car adapter?

Or you can get one of the 12 Volt battery packs like are used by the LED lighting guys like this:
0uXrGDG.jpg

and get the option of recharges 'on the go' where there's no convenient place to recharge. You can see the adapter plugged into the bottom of Mister Solo?

Those things are the bomb. Put your solo and your charger in your backpack, travel to whereever you want to be (lake, forest - everywhere with no electricity) and you already got a full charged solo to play with. Put it back on charger after the session, enjoy the sights and charge at the same time.

--------------

Hey Guys, so my solo fell down for the 30st time and now It won't charge anymore. But when it fell down it had a full battery and I used it until it was down to 0. So this tells me that only a part of the unit is faulty.

Is there anything I can do?

Thanks poonman. I searched and found this post http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/fake-solo.22345/ with info on counterfeits. My solo looks just like the real one in all photos with one exception. It seems to be missing some of the stamps - but has its model # sticker and the imprinting of the copyright info is clear and deep.

OK OF you have a valid point. It worked for one evening, and if replacing the charger is a simple fix it's worth it. Luckily there's still a Radio Shack around these parts. So I have figured out that these items may do the trick:

https://www.radioshack.com/products/radioshack-adaptaplug-b?variant=7188486661

along with one of these:
https://www.radioshack.com/products...-to-dc-high-power-adapter?variant=19965541701

https://www.radioshack.com/products/radioshack-universal-12vdc-power-cord?variant=7188359685

https://www.radioshack.com/products...-heavy-duty-dc-power-cord?variant=17443057285

Hopefully I've uncovered the right stuff, but I will bring the solo and current charger with me when I go.

Thanks for the info on that LED charge pack, what a great item to have on hand. Will pick one up once I have a working solo....

ETA: Forgot to ask: Some of these chargers have a polarity switch on them. How should that be set?

Good luck with it.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I am CHARGING! Yeeha!:buzz:

Didn't quite work out as planned. Of course earlier in the day someone came into RS and bought EVERY 12V charger they had in stock....typical of my luck....

I did better at ACE Hardware. Picked up a Powerline 90382 for $17.99 and it included a connector that fit. So despite the inconvenience it ended up costing less than what I was going to purchase at Radio Shack.

This time I will definitely let it fully charge before trying it out. Keeping my fingers crossed I will be vaping this evening.

Once again I just want to say a big THANK YOU to everyone that replied and jumped in to help this stranger. Much appreciated!

GREAT!!! Thanks for passing the good word. Sounds like you're 'home safe and dry' at least for now. I'd charge that sucker 'to the top' and enjoy it. Then, after several (hopefully happy) sessions, reconfirm it's charging normally?

On behalf of all, you're most welcome for any help we can provide. You've stumbled, hat in hand, into a fine bunch of folks (as you're no doubt realizing), please pull up a chair and join us? Lots of good advice from good people, lots of fun as well. Just don't let @ataxian near your glass (you'll find out why if you stick around.....).

BTW, there are some 'tricks' you can do to prolong/maximize your battery life. The first one ('overcharge' before first use) is past, but you can still vastly prolong the useful lifespan of the battery (which is likely to be sub par anyway?) by unplugging charging when it gets near (but not quite to) full charge. That is catch it when the top (7) LED is lit but the charge LED is still flashing. That LED turns on when it's not quite 90% charged. Stopping then costs you an extra session per 'cycle' (charge and discharge) but can MORE THAN DOUBLE the cycles you get before the battery dies it's eventual death. The difference between say 300 cycles (at say 8 sessions per cycle) to over 600 (at seven sessions per). You don't have to do it every time, but every time you do is basically a 'free cycle' in terms of battery life.

For now I'd run it until it stops charging for enough cycles to give you confidence it's working, but then you might consider it?

Again, congratulations. Please join our happy band of misfits? And don't let Ataxian neer your glass.......

Edit: One other tip you might consider is our @CarolKing.......the Lady knows here stuff, calls it straight and will make you wise if you pay attention to what she says. A serious resource to this thread indeed.

Maybe you can get rubberized floors??

Or attach slinkies so when they fall the spring brings them back at you before hitting the floor??

you should Silicon Tube the shit out of new stems
i'm lazy as fuck.
TI2 material for a GonG.

I guess people are too stoned to care about medical users?

@sickmanfraud All my floors are hard.
My wife doesn't like carpet so I have no protection.
I would use the SOLO more if I had rubber floors?
At one time I had rubber floors in my Vaporizing Room.
Now I have a closet full of Glass and Fittings.
I vape were I want but have to keep all my gear in a tall closet.

The SOLO is my wives favorite vaporizer!
I need some GonG's

Sad update....I was wrong...it's not charging:rant:

Guess I got so excited seeing lights flashing I thought I was home free...

I emailed Arizer with the serial # and got a reply within 24hrs, which I wasn't expecting. They said "your serial number has raised from red flags" (typo theirs). They've asked for receipt and photo of bottom of unit, which I've sent. I think we all know what I'm going to hear back.....

So once I get the official confirmation that it's counterfeit and I don't have to worry about voiding a warranty, I'll be ready to break out the screwdriver and have at it.

I also opened up a refund request with ebay and let them know I had contacted the manf. Immediate refund applied - despite 2 days of my emails going unanswered by the seller. Guess I'll use it to start a savings plan for a real solo.

Thanks so much for the warm welcome and helpfulness - I surely intend to stick around!

My Floors are hard also......
We have tile, and placed wood laminate throughout the house.
BUT...
we left carpet in Bedroom and Vape room.
I am somewhat protected.
Ed's TNT makes unbreakable Solo Stems and WonGs (wood to glass)
I vape in my garden mostly.
At night I use my Master Bathroom.
My wife hates the smell so I have too run the fan!
Wood is durable however flavors effect me?
I need a inert material against my lips.
Wood is fine for most people however I'm hyper-sensitive to taste?

I dislike the taste of metal on my lips, so I never drink any soft drink, juice, beer etc from a can.
In CALIFORNIA we have rreally nice crops.
All my wine is in glass.
Stryofoam doesn't taste right to me?
However I break glass all the time?
I think I maybe the only person to do so?
CANNABIS is hard too prescribe because it effects us all differently?

Herb gardener...
After sending my solo away last week, I emailed today to check the progress...
Turns out my (less than a year old) solo, is unfixable, and they will be sending me a replacement...

I'm shocked, really thought it would be a simple fix...

Oh well, least I get a new solo....

I've tried a few vapes in my first year of vaping, and I have to say, the solo stands the test of time, I do love it. How is such an old design still so brilliant...
It extracts extremely well, and tastes really good.
And has good battery life.
If only it had an isolated air path...
