Cheap High Quality Bubbler

So over my time here in the last nearly 2 years now (OMG has it been that long?!) I've probably bought around 25 pieces for myself and the current two in my rotation are the FC-710 and that little 4" thick glass bubbler piece with the holes in it that everyone likes. There's maybe another 3-4 that I use semi-regularly but the rest mostly sit around waiting to be sold or given away to a local. [No plans to sell them here so don't ask] At least 5 of them have poor function for various reasons and will probably just be tossed. A few were more for vape use which I seldom do anymore and I've switched to proper low temp dabbing so short vapor path tools are best to retain flavour. I may actually try getting the BatesXWormXGrav Diffusion Pump since I like the design better than the original and it's more similar to the FC-710 but with hopefully better workmanship (mine came with a crack in the tube though it's still intact). I can get that one for $190CAN which seems reasonable.

I'm also still checking the thread and keeping my eye out for gems though, China keeps surprising me at what they can put out. I remember 1.5 years ago fab eggs were considered too hard to make for less than $100 and then they blew straight past that to some much more intricate stuff pretty damn quickly. Some of them even work well. But barring something cool to my liking I think my GAS tank is on low for now after trying ALL THE BONGS! But I know what I like now a lot better and I have some quality pieces so I can afford to be a lot more picky with new stuff now.

Oh and in case people were wondering, last I heard was that @blankrider , who really got the ball rolling on the custom glass front here and is why the FC-710 exists in the first place, had gotten into custom spinning glass tops and is no doubt terrorizing people on whatever forums they have for that sort of thing

I think the FC-187 is better than the D020.
Looks better, better size can, better size mouthpiece, nicer functioning perc.
The D020 is very similar, but between them I like the experience with the sidecar matrix a whole lot more.

I'm unsure on adapters for the Haze, though I would recommend a direct connection over a whip.

D020 for portables.
I have the D series and they are good for portables. ASH COLLECTOR adds volume.
FC series I have almost all of them. (logs)
HYDROTUBES I have made in CALIFORNIA. (better seal)

I really don't need any more glass.
I bought an RBT Milaana for use as a cordless log, intending to use it through water, but it just doesn't need water as even BIG hits are smooth.
And tasty too without water.

I have Dynavap VapCaps which also work great without H2O, but can likewise produce great results through bubblers.

The Grasshopper on the other hand is too harsh to use for big, high temp' hits without water, so GAS has struck despite already having a D020-D and a Weed Star Double Bubble.

I liked the look of the MK II diffusion pump, but don't think it's in production yet, am I right?

The other two pieces that I'm tempted by are:

And:

Weed Star describe 'The Highlander' (1st one)as having a 'cut disc diffuser ' perc, and the 'Smoky Poky Returns'' (2nd) as having a 'cutter' perc'.

I believe both are the same 'Tornado' style perc' which creates a funnel of water by spinning the can contents.

I've never tried this style of perc' and wonder which end of the 'chug - froth' spectrum this style of diffuser inhabits.
Are they high or low diffusion devices?
I'd prefer fairly low diffusion, as both of my existing pieces are quite high, and rob quite a lot of flavour.

Are these 'cut disc' perc's much good FC?
Your opinions will be most welcome :hmm:

Edit:
This will be a vapour rig only (some dabbing, but my focus will be flower vaping), because, Fuck Combustion!

Hi, does anybody have experiences with the V2 FC-UFO and the SL 15058 from Stevenlmz79 on dhgate?
I like the multifunctionality of the V2 FC-UFO. But does it work well?

Just waiting for delivery of the Moebius Matrix Sidecar (FC 187) and the FC-186 from him. Hope it was a good deal!?

I think all of those turbine/cutter/tornado percs will offer only a little diffusion so it might be just what you're looking for.

Thanks for your thoughts
If you've tried this type of perc' can you comment on whether they're 'chuggy' or smooth draws?

I haven't tried that kind exactly. I feel like it would be somewhat chuggy with some volume of water but both of those pieces look like they hold a low to moderate amount so I think it should be pretty smooth. Not sure, though. I'm mostly passing on what I've heard regarding the VapeXhale Turbine Hydratube.

Yeah true, the D020 is a pretty small piece, good for travel. The FC-187 replaced mine as my car rig though, fits in c.console better.
I take my FC-187 now as my travel beaker, to the beach, to the forest, into the alpine for relieving stress. It's a new age dabble of REC/MED balance.

It's not that I really need it....but, I kinda feel like I shouldn't be a chump and ignore the great value this piece offers.. Does anyone have any negative comment to make about the FC-MOD?

maybe this is what I need for my ssv. I am finding it real awkward to lift up any of the D or 187s I ordered. Kinks in the whip from ssv to glass makes it awkward to pick anything up. What fittings do I need to make this? Is it just a fitting for the whip mouthpiece?

WOW!!---> Silver fumed banger hanger <---LINK
2hhpsg7.jpg

This is some elegant Chinese glass!
In the pic the GH is leaning back and not flush in the joint, which is nearly perfectly vertical (it does have the slightest lean away from the can, less than 1°)

Really impressed. In the sunlight this thing is dazzling, photos won't do it justice.
For the money, it is a joke how good it is.

PROS
  • Looks, feels, is nice.
  • Fuming is legit, it is covered all over.
  • Size (small, base: ø85mm, height; MP: 160mm , 14f joint: 80mm, MP width: ø40mm)
  • Relatively flawless glass (no bubbles, acceptable joins)
  • Mouthpiece is comfortable
  • Diffusion is reasonable

CONS
  • perc is uneven (placement, angle, cuts) [still functions well, it is a 13 slit showerhead {8 on one side, 5 on the other}]
  • Can give splash back (the piece requires only a tiny amount of water, if it is just above the slits, there is no splash back at all, with a few extra drops of water extreme rips will flick up the odd droplet, with a decent amount of water [30% more than in pic] it is fine with a controlled slow drag but not so good with 100% inhaling speed. Most vapes should slow the draw speed down to levels it can easily cope with though.
  • Glass thickness. If the base was a little thicker, it would feel like a legitimate quality artisan piece. It is quite light - walls would be 3mm, base is ~2mm thick.
The glass bowl it came with had a broken handle, couldn't care less but even that looked quality (cheech branded). Customs opened my parcel so I'll blame them for the stupidly long postage and poor repackaging (hence the break). The piece itself was standard DHgate wrapped, so fairly bombproof.

I feel a lot of FC'ers would enjoy owning this little rig, I know I am stoked with it

Impressive! I've been looking at that one as well. Have you tested it to see if the fuming was done properly and doesn't just wipe off?

Not adequately
Gave it a hot water rinse with detergent and a pretty good eye over. From what I can tell it is properly silver fumed with a finish aiming to produce the blues in the pics. So it is quite thin and transparent in normal light. The fuming is only on the outside surface, the inside and base are plain glass. There's also a few spots where there is none (a 'shadow' behind the neck for eg.), and other thin patches on the outside, but the unevenness looks good.

It is either legit silver fumed or has a very good imitation style. I don't have any acetone to test atm.

The only thing that looks suss to me is the brush stroke like finish, I don't know if it's normal for fuming to look like that so it could be paint, but they'd also need to have sprayed it. It looks good whatever it is.

*edit - for what it's worth, I have no affiliation whatsoever with the above piece. It kinda seems like a shameless plug or whatever. I have just read some complaints of splashback on reddit.
It is a valid concern with the piece, and I think mine might be a lucky sample that doesn't splash (might help with off centre perc placement)
I'd seen this review whilst waiting, so was pretty stoked with mine in comparison (different seller, same product pics)

Narrowing things down for my first water piece to use with my Haze V3

Seems like I will need the water tool adapter

http://www.hazevaporizers.com/product/haze-dual-v3-glass-water-tool-attachment/

to use with any of the pieces. Being in Canada I can get the glass one but the wooden ones would have to be shipped from the US and shipping would be too expensive.

My choices are D020-D, FC 187 V2, or the FC-UFO.

Since we've been talking about this piece and haven't actually named it I will.
FC-278

I think this is the go to pick and the one I will recommend moving forward for people looking for their first piece. It's small, saves flavor, and can be used as an ash catcher for if you want to use vape on max temp and rail hits.

Bonus: It's not expensive and it has no logos so I can link it.

Since at least one person asked, the holey piece I mentioned up above that's basically my 2nd favourite piece is this one:

http://www.dhgate.com/product/2015-feb-newest-glass-bong-9-quot-inches/247499767.html

Now that I've pretty much tried all the bongs and e-nails and am pretty happy with my setup, I've now turned my attention to one of my other passions/hobbies, portable/hi-fi audio. I got turned onto a thread over at Head-Fi and ended up pre-ordering all the earphones on this page except the Phoenix which isn't for sale yet. I've only gotten the Vyrus and Sabre so far, both sound great but the Sabre are the best I've heard yet in that price range and I got them for maybe 40% less than the listed price. The Hunter's actually use a titanium shell which is anodized uniquely which I thought was a cool crossover to the dabbing world. I've pretty much bought all the hardware I could ever use but then I discovered ultra high-def DSD music which is hard to find for "free". So this hobby is seeming pretty cheap comparatively. I swear I won't buy those $10k cables but that's mostly because I can't afford it. Maybe after I buy all the legit Motherships out there if I still have cash to burn, lol.

....Nope, no explanation. The USPS tracking just stops when it arrives in customs. Then about a week or two later, the Chinese tracking site DHgate uses tells me that my item has been sent back to China.
Damn it!! I ordered the Symbiartic tube and inline hydra base from Sunshinestore and this where I'm at. The tracking stops at US customs. It says processed through facility but that was on the 24th delivery was supposed to be yesterday but nothing. I'm guessing it's on it's way back to China.

Check on your order page on dhgate and click tracking. When mine was turned back the usps tracking stopped but the dhgate page still updated and showed its scans on the way back. Sorry to hear you have to deal with that, sunshinestores been good in the past I'm sure they will turn it back around once it arrives.

I've been checking both dhgate and usps with the same results. I'm bummed the US customs officials on the west coast are being such turds in regards to bongs. Hopefully I get it sometime next month.
