Discontinued Zion vaporizer

Dramma Lamma

Looks like a job for!
Yeah, I hear ya and not trying to knock science, but I still don't feel comfortable with it.

Point is, I'm fine with butane jet on a lotus, vapcap, vapman or others. Heating THEN hitting I'm fine with. But, would rather not be sucking the end of that flame into my lungs. I know it is probably safe, as everything is burned. But it bothers me & why worry about it?

Ever take an advanced chemistry class?

They pretty quickly drive home the fact that no reaction in existence is 100%. In fact a question based off of this concept will likely be on your final exam.:bang:

You can at best predict the overall result. NOT 100% of everything, this is where isomers, enantiomers and all that other funky shit comes into play. (google it)

Some combustion of some particles will fail (or turn into some other un-studied enantiomer ETC) then you inhale them directly, FACT.

Also I've had a lot of beers tonight so feel free to take my drunken post with a bit of a grain of salt. But I defiantly do agree with you on the underlined portion @flotntoke

:nod::tup:You are not knocking science, you are listening to it.:nod::tup:

I will NEVER buy a vape that involves directly inhaling combustion heat.

The topic is the Zion. Please stick to it. The last few posts have not. Thanks for your cooperation.

Question maybe the Z team might be able to answer.

On the Zion is the potentiometer going to have an "off" setting on the knob similar to the LSV/SSV?

IMO this would be a great feature.

You would be able to turn the knob off and have no worries about accidentally depressing the button while keeping the batteries in the Zion.

A locking ring on the knob like the voltage keepers have would be great too....

TIA

No 'off' position on the Zionometer @Vape Dr. It just goes to minimum power.

But you can keep the batteries loaded by simply flipping one of the cells to stop it from powering on in your pocket or bag :myday:

As we're firmly in the second half of 2016, I'm wondering when ryan will get these going again.

:hmm:
I honestly do believe that the train will be rolling again very soon @grokit - but don't quote me! ;)

Yeah as Veg said, it was discussed at a time, but I believe it was scrapped for simplicity. Maybe RBT can revisit when he gets back to work, but unsure if that is realistic. Like where your heads at though Doc, I agree it would be great and I had asked Ryan way back when

One and a half years later, Courtney, the world's only 3d printed nylon Zion is still delivering the goods in grand fashion. Her knob is God knows where, she's ingested water multiple times, survived a couple minor drops and extracted countless cubic yards of delicious vapor so far and keeps on blowing. Ohhhhh yeahhhh!

Soooooo, I was back on track with some 'stuffÑchuff' action last night - stems force fed nothing but nuggage.

Just a little bit of long overdue, light relief from the 'hard times' that I've been experiencing of late . . .

300x300.jpg

Anyway, I'm pleased to report that as always, Vyvyan delivered the precious goods with vigour & style.

Starting off low & slow from the safety of base camp - so as not to blast myself into introspective orbit - the flavours down there had me smacking my lips and almost licking my fingers! Seriously, I was chomping on the exhale it was so damn good . . . . nom nom nom nom!

omnomnmnom.gif

And waiting at least 10 minutes between each hit is certainly not my usual approach (or even practical with many other vapes), but it surely enabled a most considered & steady rise right to the very top of Mount Zion. And as I stepped up the temperature range as the evening progressed, the flavour just seemed to continue to erupt - and I finished my climb sprawled out, all spellbound & smiley, soaking up the sunshine upon the summit . . . .

Summit%20Siesta.jpg

(Well, I was actually on our sofa, but it certainly felt like someplace else entirely!)

Oh what a blessing. Best night's sleep in ages. Thank you.

A journey of discovery . . .
- Destination Zion.

MuchLove! (Please help yourself)

Yours,

But I like it!
If you find something with slightly more power you could also add a small air pump to the intake, and a whip and bag system to the output.

Which makes me wonder why there are no 'instant on' wired desktop units? I barely touch the vapes that require heatup time these days, and when I do I'm using Zion or Milaana while they heat up, and byt he time they are warm I'm pretty much done...

Having been rocking my Milaana for the last few months i was beginning to wonder if i really needed a zion (not that i had any intention to cancel my pre order...perish the thought )

But having been messing around with water filtration recently, i am discovering that fine line between vapor and smoke, and when i cross it well, it's messy and smelly. Even though (or maybe because) i was a former dedicated combuster, the smell of smoke on a pipe or vape is yuck, yuuuck, yuuuuuuck. So stems and pipe spend a lot of downtime in cleaning and lemon baths while i feel things out (note, incidents have occured with multiple vapes, not just Milaana)

Anyway, am now looking forward to the set and forget regulation of the Zion to step into the breach in this current skirmish.

Just to be clear and to make sure future users are not mislead: the regulation is only a power control, not a temperature control. Exactly like in the LSV for instance, you can still combust if you set it to max power and you are not careful.

To use a car analogy, the Milaana would be a car where you can only set the throttle to either full-on or full-off. The Zion would be a car where you can select the amount of throttle to apply, but can still only set it on or off. A TC vape would be a car with cruise control.

Now to continue with the car analogy, when you are climbing a hill (the slope corresponds to how fast you draw from the vape) you can easily find the right amount of constant throttle to apply such that your car speed stays the same the entire way.

When you find that sweet spot with the Zion, you can draw for as long as you want and the temperature will stay constant, with zero risk of combustion. In practice I tend to set the power slightly above my capacity, such as to create a gentle temperature rise. This way by holding the trigger progressively longer and longer, you are able to step higher and higher in temperature, but in a very controlled manner.

My Zion beta is #1 (or #2 depending on how you count) and she (Venus) is still working wonderfully. I am approaching the point where I will need to give up my first pair of batteries as I don't think they are keeping their charge as well, but 14 months or so is pretty good, I think.

Any news on Zion production front? It's been about 8 weeks since the last update about rejigging the circuit boards to avoid hot trace, testing of those should be almost wrapped up perhaps?
Maybe a couple of months from now till the production line is all set up?

Not checking in often these days, but with spring just around the corner and my next harvest in 4 weeks I'm all jazzed about getting high as fuck, and a Zion would go down a treat :D

Nothing, last I heard was still stalled as Milaana needs to get out there more. Best way for Zion progress to pick up would be for Milaana sales to pick up unfortunately. Once he does get back into it I do think you are right it should only be a couple months to get it rolling again, presumably starting with the 3 warranties units

June and july were never going to happen, august is pretty much shot.
I wonder if any zions will make it out in 2016 at all...
The zion was supposed to be rbt's flagship portable all along.
Now it's being held hostage to the success of the 'lesser' vaporizer?

:freak:

Held hostage due to lack of demand for the whole lot I guess lol I agree it's crazy bc Zion got so close many times but had more involved than we all expected (the creator included it seems). True it is technically lesser but in many ways superior, i haven't used Zion in a long while now and still use Milaana the most out of all my vapes. I guess power control and storage is nice but turns out I appreciate simplicity more maybe, who knew. Coming from T1 way back when I thought grasshopper would be my holy grail but now I have it after so many others and Milaana tool the cake for electronic portables to me...

I have a couple friends who fucked combustion thanks to full simplicity with Daisy, I never thought itd be something I craved. That being said Milaana may not be as easy for sharing with some people, maybe I should try Zion for some of those people it occurs to me... FYI if those people don't have a problem with a torch they too love DaisyBrick

What was I saying again? Oh well it's the Zion thread does it matter? If anyone is interested in Zion (sorry to continue to bump the thread, tldr no news lol) I highly recommend checking out Milaana if you don't have one already, or really StickyBrick actually too, even VapCap for something really different... Oh a log would be a good distraction too, I hear Apollo can be lovely too

I've been considering pre-ordering a Zion since I found out about it, but at this point I'm so smitten with the Mi it's hard to justify the upgrade. Though logic says if I love the Mi I'll love the Zion even more.

Some of the pros of the Zion's are starting to seem like cons to me. Having to keep batteries in pairs, the extra bulk of the unit, ergonomics, etc all seem less convenient.

And while regulation is nice, the regulation I built for my Mi tells me the voltage, the Zion's knob does not.

I still want to try one just for comparisons sake but I'm having trouble justifying the Zion when I'm just so damn happy with the Mi. Maybe I should try to borrow one from someone to try it out before I preorder.

I'd like to see RBT offer an "upgrade" price tier that doesn't include the batteries, stems, and charger. Could bring the price down quite a bit for those of us who already have all those things.

And to echo @Shit Snacks , I thought the Hopper was going to be amazing too but honestly I mostly pull it out to pretend the purchase and waiting was justified. It's good, but it's not AMAZING like the Mi.

I think those of us who haven't used the Zion believe that regulation will also regulate temperature - however, I don't think that's the case. Regulating voltage means the heater heats up slower but is still capable of getting well into combustion territory?

It would be cool if the knob could control max temp and it's just my opinion but that would make it more of a "flagship" product. Obviously it would require a lot more electronics -> more chance for breakage
