HI guys - I have a good friend who has a movement disorder that has been diagnosed as Parkinson's by various neurologists and movement disorder centers. He's very lucky that it has stayed isolated to his left foot and lower leg and has not progressed in quite some time.

I saw this thread title and I mentioned to him that he may want to look into cannabis as a possible additional help. We looked at some articles returned by a Google search and its seems that views on the effectiveness of cannabis as an aid for Parkinson's is still very much up in the air. His neurologist told him the same thing...no evidence yet that it helps Parkinson's.

I know I can read the thread....all 484 pages of it. But if anybody can summarize the status of cannabis and Parkinson's or provide a link to more definitive articles and resources, both I and my friend would appreciate that very much.

Parkinson's comes from the same part of the brain that epilepsy does. It's called the vegas system. There are numerous studies showing that Marijuana has had a positive effect on illnesses that derive from this area.

For me personally, I find enormous relief relief from vaping. For example, everyone who understands PD knows its a resting disease. Most of us, not in late stages, specifically while unilaterally suffering (one one side) don't show symptoms while moving. The pain, the rigidity, and the tremors start once we try and relax. For me, this is excruciating. I'll take gait and balance issues anyday over the other. It's torture, you can't rest, sleep, can't fucking watch TV for more than a few minutes at a time. Regardless, weed helps me through this. It takes what I call the "parkies edge" off.

Mine started in my right hand, that was in the summer of 2013. Today it's on both sides. Don't get me wrong, that doesn't actually mean that it's gotten worse. Or at least worse for me I should say.

I learned how to make it work for me. It wasn't going anywhere whether I liked it or not lol. I learned how to live with it. Tell your friend not to be scared to reach out. There's a lot of us around. It's not so bad. And yes, pot helps a lot.

So does levadopa and neupro, but I swear pots right up there!

Thank you so very much, Mvapes.

I'm going to send him a link to this thread....maybe it will stimulate him to investigate something that could contribute to his betterment.

Cheers and, again, thank you very much.
