I did it, I did it, I did it.....I just lost £360, but tomorrow I'll evolve....with a turbine....

Thanks for all your help and advice people, I know iv been annoying and asking the same, newb questions more than once....

And I'm sure their will be more annoying questions to follow....

So my evo will come tomorrow, so will my ti woody vapcap/vong/dynastashxl.
My gr8tr came today, and I harvested recently, so have many jars of new cannabis to use....and my note 7 is coming, and the sun is shining in the UK this week......and I just got a pet tortoise. ....

Life could be worse right now, god knows it has been.....

May the good time's continue, and may this EVO impress me....

Thanks again, kind people, for your guidance......
Kellya86 coming from your Eq this Evo is gonna blow your mind. My Eq was my 1st serious desktop besides my Volcano. When i went Evo i immediately had to retire my Eq , it was just such a huge difference in vapor quality and ease of use , no finicking or having to mod it with a Ddave kit to make it better, huge instant lung busting clouds with almost any material and i was able to still use most of my glass i already owned by getting the adapter 18mm male to female. You will not be disapointed at all and most likely will retire your Eq's like i did.

You are all just adding to the excitement, I'm gonna have to try really hard to vape myself to sleep tonight....

I do have a couple more question as promised....

1. How heavy is the EVO? The one thing that shocked me was how light the eq was, for the extra money, I'd like the EVO to feel more weighty....and for the expensive glass to be sitting on, I'd like it sturdy....

2. It's says I receive 1 x vx nail, is this a consumable item that won't last long, should u buy more now?

3. Them elb's look a lot bigger than the eq basket I'm used to, do you load them full? Is the EVO as efficient as my @DDave eq?

Sorry again for asking question i could probably search for...

Never used an EQ or DDave mod, but the Evo isn't "heavy" but it feels about right in terms of weight. It is also fairly stable, but likely not as much as the EQ based on its wide base. However, it isn't easy to knock over (just mind the cord placement!!), and it only gets top heavy with crazy glass contraptions (NOT the standard hydratubes). I wouldn't expect the evo to be super heavy, as normally people are holding the evo during use, so you wouldn't want something super heavy to hold while you're medicating.

The nails aren't consumable, but they are breakable. Kind of like the bowls, some like to have multiple so they don't have to clean as often. If you are a heavy concentrate user, having more is likely a good idea. However, there is a manufacturer of quartz nails that fit the evo for MUCH less than VapeXhale's, the link is on this thread somewhere. I wish someone would figure out how to make some 3rd party ELBs!!

I can't comment on the size comparison, but I've filled my evo bowls less than a quarter full and get good hits and full extraction. The evo is incredibly, incredibly efficient.

1. I thought the Evo felt really lightweight when I received mine. I was surprised, I was expecting it to feel much heavier for some reason.
Keep the cable away from trip areas and never leave the glass on top.

2. I had 2 glass nails which lasted a couple of months before the first broke and the second deformed from torching it. I purchased some quartz nails instead in April and I'm still using the first one.

3. The ELBs are much bigger than the baskets for the EQ, I tend to load mine maybe a third to half full.
[edit]
something like this is handy for brushing out the elbs to extend the time between iso baths

Also, although we call it quartz, it ain't quartz the naturally occurring mineral which would need to be milled into shape. Mineral Quartz is at 7 Mohs, "Quartz" nails are made of fused silica, pretty much just extremely pure glass. It's mohs rating is from 5.3 - 6.5. Still pretty damn hard stuff.

Have you thought about using Powdered Brewer's Wash on your nails? Same stuff as you may use on your borosilicate glass? It should work, it doesn't require a flame thrower, and its safe.

Nice thread about it in the Glass forum started by @t-dub. You may already be familiar with this but:

PBW & the Chemistry of Clean

I hope this is helpful to you. As you can see from my post count, I'm rather on the new side here but I have read many of your interesting posts including ones where you spoke of your disease of ataxia. I admire your pluck and seeming good humor about life in the face of these challenges and wish you the best.

If I may presume GOOD ATTITUDE + HUMOR = CIVILIZED

Cheers
I use PBW (for years) ALONOX (stronger) BAKING SODA SALT VINEGAR OXYCLEAN SIMPLE GREEN and a few other things?

I have his hand held steam cleaner I will try next? My glass water pipes worked with steam.
Kellya86 coming from your Eq this Evo is gonna blow your mind. 8mm male to female. You will not be disapointed at all and most likely will retire your Eq's like i did.

I use the EVO for medicating before bed.
However I may get a 2nd one for down stairs?

I still use my "Q" like a baseball player swinging 2 bats before he goes to plate.
The EVO is way more FLAVORFUL and very POWERFUL.
Their not for everybody however since I love SHATTER so much and it's getting cheaper and cheaper the NAIL'S I'm loving.

Listen to @Justpassedu !
I'm jaded or maybe I'm permanently faded?

1. Just a little under 1 lb. The lighter weight is due to the special plastic used for the housing; it is designed specifically for dissipating heat. The first Cloud had an aluminum housing and was much heavier, but much hotter to handle, too. You'll want to use the optional sleeve. It should be held around the lower half of the unit. There is good balance even with the HT's, although if e.g. using with some other glass extra care may be required. With an HT it is light enough to comfortably hold while hitting, or you may prefer to put it on a flat surface. Take note about the cord though; if that hasn't been changed you want to be sure it's positioned so that it is not going to move the EVO. Some of us bought 3rd-party power cords which are less likely to do this.

2. If you use concentrates and the standard nail, you will most likely break it eventually. Probably sooner than later, until you get the hang of it. You can buy (or make) a holder for the nails which helps a lot. Or go with a quartz nail which is much harder. Most who use the nails have a couple, for a cleaning rotation.

3. As a general rule, load the ELB no more than 1/2 with nicely shredded or fluffy ground (but not powdery) herb. You can load a very small amount. On this or the previous Cloud thread I posted pics of 2 hits with white thick vapor filling my big Mobius bubbler using only .1g. This will of course vary considerably with your herb and technique. The @DDave mod gives a lot of oomph to the Q, but the broad consensus is that nothing hits harder than the EVO. Efficiency is one of the EVO's greatest strengths; it's in the physics of the device. I have a strain at the moment where I get a dozen hits off half an ELB. You'll want to open the ELB and stir the herb a bit about half way through your session to get maximum exposure. Your ABV should be a consistent shade of brown, how dark depending on how high your heat setting is.

And finally, I doubt that you are really sorry. :D Seriously though, you'll do yourself a favor by reading through the last several hundred pages of this thread. Take it a few pages at a time. There is a lot of valuable information that, besides answering all the usual questions like those above, adds info that a new user wouldn't think to ask about. ;)

Welcome!

If I may, allow me to just add a proverbial "word to the wise" . . . when the Cloud was released - and this applies many times over with the EVO - it was branded as "the connoisseur's vape". That is so true. The EVO is sophisticated and nuanced. I compare it to the ritual of preparing and smoking a fine Cuban cigar. Or really good sex. There is a lot you can do with this device. When you look back in this thread (actually, more so in the first half) you'll notice in the sigs of many a long list of vapes; there is more vaping experience on this thread than anywhere else I know of. What most of us found is that there is a discovery curve with the EVO, as one learns its subtleties and flexibility. It's not just a vape, it's an experience. It's fun to use.

Some new users - I'm not suggesting at all that this applies to you, IMHO this is just good to know - bought the EVO hearing how hard it can hit, and expected a fancier version of Da Buddha: Load, hammer, get blotto. While the EVO can certainly do that, it is much more. But these users were impatient. In reality, they were happier with a more basic device, which is perfectly fine; different strokes for different folks and all that blah blah. Consequently, I repeat the same suggestion that I and others have offered since the OG: Be patient with yourself. Try to puff that cigar down like candy and you'll just puke your guts out; be a slam-bam-thankyou-ma'am kinda guy and you'll get a lot less from the ladies. Treat the EVO like a lady and yourself like Rudy Valentino, and you'll be posting advice here for new users in the years to come. And remember, we're all here happy to help another addition to the crew.

I'll get off my soap box now.

I'll take on board your wise words....

I've been a devoted eq owner for almost exactly a year now, since I joined this site, and fucked combustion last September. Iv enjoyed spending the last year, and 20oz, experimenting, tweaking, modding, and improving my eq experience. So I'm sure I'll enjoy spending the next year's getting to know thus vape. We have all the time in the world. And more herb than one man can consume. An I'm sure this time next year, I'll be one with the evo...

To be honest I love my eq and I'm struggling to see how it gets much better, but we will see..

The EVO is elegant, simple, and powerful. I also started with the EQ and then upgraded to the EVO. It's an evolution that makes sense (pardon the pun). It's a similar shape and does everything in a more powerful, streamlined manner. You eliminate adapters and hoses and get an easy, full extraction with virtually no learning curve. You're gonna be blown away, I think. This vape is exactly what I wanted it to be.

The unit is light. I think the best tip to avoid breaking the hydratubes is to avoid leaving the glass on top of the EVO unit in between rips. That's when it would be most vulnerable.

Hello all, I posted this in the China glass thread but didn't get any response. I mostly use glass with my EVO so thought I might get some direction here. Please let me know...

So I currently have this little Hydratube from sunshinestore:

K8UBUO4.jpg

I use it with my EVO, CFX and some wax pens. And, would like to upgrade.

I don't mind sacrificing some smoothness for better flavor or bigger hits. Are these good upgrade options:

I also noticed sunshinestore upgraded their hydratube: http://m.dhgate.com/product/2016-ne...es-bubbler/372671070.html#st-storehome-8-null any thoughts on that one?

Other suggestions are also welcome.

Anyone here used a Wifi smart plug to power their evo? I remember reading about how it won't power in a car so wanted to see if a Wifi smart plug would cause any issues.

The first one is sorta a knock-off of a Mobius Ion, with a matrix perc and dewar joint. The question I would have is the diameter of the piece, i.e., I've seen very slim versions which may not have sufficient room for the EVO to sit in the joint and not touch the mouthpiece, requiring an adapter to raise the EVO or to set it to the side. I'd have basically the same question about the second piece, when the EVO sits inverted in that side stem is there enough space w/o touching the can? These may be fine, but unfortunately the site doesn't provide the dimensions.

I used a WeMo in the past and didn't have any issues. :2c:

It just should not be used to keep the power on for long periods of time, right? IIRC there is now a warning somewhere on the VXL site about that potentially overheating the unit. Or did I imagine that?

Are there any codes for the ego website? Vapor nation is running a sale and I can get a good deal on the evo, they claim you still get warranty. Is that possible to get warranty from a 3rd party seller?

Thanks for the reminder, oldie and thanks for the reference, waxdab. I should have mentioned that it isn't sanctioned by VXL so you use those devices at your own risk. I can only report on my personal experience using one.

On a totally unrelated note, I just want to say that I hate lawyers.
