The Grasshopper Shipping Poll

When do you think the first Grasshoppers (in BOXES!) will ship?

As I mentioned earlier I ordered my grasshopper in one of the"M" months. I looked it up, it was May. My estimated ship date was August. I didn't/don't feel optimistic about getting it in the estimated time frame; I have, after all, been following the saga for more then a year. I still can't help but feel a bit tilted. Not so much because of the delay, but the zero communication that my estimated ship date is not going to be met.

What really gets my goat is I think they are doing it on purpose. The estimated ship date for current orderes is September. Unless they really think they can make up 10 months of orders in ~40 days, it's a knowing lie. Althought they may really believe in that time table. It's all speculation until it happens, or doesn't. But the only two possibilities I see are GHL is actively trying to deceive or are head-in-the-sand optimists. I suspect the former because STEM folk tend to be too rational to be eternally optimistic. Although not rational enough, it seems, to treat customers respectfuly.

If it is a lie though, I wouldn't really mind if they told the truth. Not getting my order until January? Fine. At least I know. Instead i can't help but feel like a chump that needs strung along least his fickle mind sway towards canceling his pre-order.

I honestly don't think ghl is deliberately misstating projected delivery dates. There are too many pieces out of their control. They just know what's in their pipeline, and what their assembly and shipping capabilities are. But if a supplier is late or sends a defective batch...oh well.

It's not much different from any company, public or otherwise, making forecasts and projections. All they can do is compare reality to forecast after the fact, learn and adjust.

We've been watching ghl shorten the timeline between order and shipment. And I expect that to continue. Don't forget, they're technically still in preorder mode. This company isn't even close to puberty yet.

Not sure what the deal is but I have a hard time believing that when I ordered my hopper back in March....with some still waiting for orders for well over a year...that they could honestly have believed my hopper could be shipped within 2 months....aren't these guys supposed to be NASA engineers or something? I mean really....kinda absurd on the face of it.

If I ordered a grasshopper today off website how long is the wait.

If I were a betting man, I'd comfortably bet that you'll have it *sometime* in 2016.

When depends on how fast they catch up on the past 10 months of orders (they only recently started ramping up mass production so you won't have to wait 9 months for your order)

I have an offer on ebay right now 220 for a brand new one didn't sign up the warranty think I should grab it
I don't know who the seller is, but an additional warranty sounds fishy. Ghl offers a lifetime warranty to the original purchaser. So if the seller is authorized, you have all the warranty you need.

Response to the conversation for the last pages about that hopper 945 is getting

I just been to parcel force and come back with a hopper so under two weeks I waited
customs stung me £43 not happy about that but I got a grass hopper and it works better than I expected
I only ordered 1 extra battery and got 2 so total of 3 is that normal?

I have 3 and an external charger, and so far it's plenty. Others here seem to be heavier users and go through charged batteries faster. So whether 3 is enough for you really depends on your planned use (alone or sharing, what temp setting, frequency of use, etc.). I'm sure I will get more, but I want to wait until these approach the end of their lifecycle.

For preorders before a certain date, ghl gave a gift of an extra battery (because of the shipping delays). And the gh comes with one. Plus the one extra you bought. So what you received is right.

It may have been in an early ghl newsletter or just communicated here and buried in a gh thread somewhere. But I wasn't sure as my shipment approached, so I emailed Caroline and she confirmed it.

I still dont understand how you could have bought a hopper last week and received it straight away and still there are over (maybe) 3000 orders to fill in front off you ... are you sure you have not been on the pre-order list from 3 years ago ?

I been waiting since March 2016 for a Stainless steel grasshopper and there are many many more in front of me ... I know this is not your fault 945 but damn I wanna take a pitchfork mob to Hopper labs HQ after reading this ... still waiting for like a "haha only kidding been on the waiting list"

Agreed, @945 could you please provide some sort of receipt showing the exact timestamp of your purchase? I'm having a hard time understanding how they could be shipping an August 2016 order right now.

Unless for some crazy reason HL got confused and someone put a 2016 order with the 8/2015 orders

it took 11 days from the day I found out about it and ordered it I was not on the pre order list from last year I spoke to Caroline at hl and was told people are not confirming there address with the link in the email and also told me that she reply's to every new email as they come and from my experience this is true
my honest opinion is I was lucky and filled a cancellation space I may be wrong but who knows
