I got my new woodeez last saturday. It is great! I finally get why so many people like this style of vape. I havent touched my herbalaire since I got it. I think it works great for multiple people, because each person gets there own tube and its very sanitary. Just using it once has convinced three friends to order them. Dont hesitate to order one if your thinking about it. I will post pics and a better review in a few days.

The only bad thing about its arrival was that it came the weekend before midterms. Talk about a distraction... I made it through the first two, now I only have 2 more left!

My its been busy on the front around here. Great to finally see spring time show up, but that means more work around these parts. Seems free time is anything but that.

Evilferret and Tryhard, both of yours shipped out last week. If you dont have them by now, I would think that they should arrive tomorrow.

I see that one of the other manufactuers are no longer taking new orders for awhile. Thats a shame. I want to see as many people get off the smoking habit as possible, and this style of vape is fantastic in helping kick that habit.

Orders placed now thru Tuesday will ship on Wednesday, and any placed after that will ship by the end of the week. :peace:

Hey clay, do remember to include the part number of the 13.5 transformer you bought please. I will be very interested in your report. I bought a 13.5 from radioshack that is serving me very well (which is good cuz my 12 volt adapter died on me)-- I love the extra heat, it sold me to vaping for good that is for sure.

obelisk,
I love these "log" style vapes. I am using mine now as a matter of fact! I got my buddy to order one this weekend, and I can't wait to see his! Keep up the good work, Todd!

Got my WZ on Friday and absolutely love it. Very well made and works great, a lot better than my Chinese Knockoff box Vape, although I did get it to work pretty good, it just took too much herb to load.

Todd has been great.

Just wondering how much does the temp go up with the 13.5V transformer. The WZ seems to get pretty warm, although I noticed the herb just gets brown and not black like I could get it with the other vape.

Why would you want it black? If you're going to take your bud that far, you might as well smoke it rather than vaping it. With vaping, a shade of brown is where you want to be.

lwien,
I hope you enjoy yours, evilferret, as much as I do mine. Stumpy has not let me down yet. Plugged in 24/7 since I got it. Have fun with your little log vape.

FINALLY got Woodeez webpage a little more up to date. I dont have many pics, and really am not much of a photographer so pics that have been posted here make up the majority of images on the site. I hope to be able to add more to it soon. Still needs a bit of work, but I think its an improvement.

[I'm the wacky Canadian who emailed you like a month back or so. I misjudged the date of my tax rebate but I'm still interested. :brow: ]

got my 13.5 volt a couple days ago and i'm lovin it. i ordered it directly from jameco, Part no. 308099. 13.5 volts, 1000ma. ~$10+shipping. it would probably be cheaper just ordering one of Rick's adaptors for $15 shipped because shipping was like 9 dollars for me from jameco.

also, your stock 12 volt is probably still fine. I messed mine up from using a coozie with my WDZ so i fucked up the plug. I rewired a new plug onto it and works like a charm. note: i use a 90 degree plug on my stock 12 volt and i like it alot more than the straight plug.

anyway, my experiences with the 13.5 volt are very similar to what you posted :ko:. I use my WDZ with my 12" tube like 90% of the time and this new adapter makes a huge difference. more efficient, bigger rips.

i'll try and get a vid up tonight and maybe post a better review, pretty vaked atm :o

Hello everyone!

This is my review of the WDZ-Weizen Model. As far as I know, this is still a 'custom' model so standard pricing may not apply. I must apologize to Todd and any others interested in this model(Ive had a couple of emails), but my plan was to plug it in and leave it alone for several weeks to 'season' it properly. Unfortunately I have had obligations that kept me from both using it and having the time to gather my thoughts for a proper review.

*** In case you are wondering what 'season' means. I believe that with this style of vaporizer(especially new ones) the optimal temperature is not reached until after several days or weeks of constant power. So I left it plugged in to a stable power source and let the WDZ do its thing. It remained powered on and undisturbed aside from a touch up with the WDZ wax for several weeks.

First here is a better picture of the WDZ-Weizen Model

Package Contents:

WDZ-Weizen Model
12v Power Brick
Little tin of wax
3 Stems

Packaging and presentation are definitely lacking, but its not like this is an Apple laptop either. I think as the WDZ gains more steam more attention to packaging and presentation will be warranted.

It's your only chance for a first impression, you have to make the most of it.

Construction:

The unit appears to be very well made, there are no 'rattles' or other noises when the unit is shaken energetically. This unit is made from Walnut and the finish is smooth and has an almost 'silky' texture to it. The Walnut has begun to darken nicely and in sunlight has streaks of alternating dark/light colors.

The internals are constructed of SS and lead free solder, the heatport is not as recessed as in other makes.

The shape of this unit is much more ergonomic than a traditional 'log' style vaporizer. Despite the added weight of more material the unit 'feels' lighter than the traditional 'Log' style from a different competitor. I have considered that this could be attributed to the different woods used in construction(I am comparing this to a Custom PD-Tea Tree) but I believe it can be better attributed to the shape itself.

The only area where this unit's finish is not uniform with the body is the area immediately surrounding the power plug receptacle. It is cut off flat as to allow for a proper attachment surface for the power plug receptacle, but unfortunately this area was not sanded/finished as smoothly as the rest of the body. The result does not affect performance whatsoever, nor would it keep me from purchasing this model again, but perhaps recessing the power plug receptacle would provide a better solution.

Stems:

The WDZ stems I received are fantastic. The 'feel' of these stems is great. Straight up.

They are made from a smoooth material, slightly more opaque than the more translucent competitor stems. Construction is solid, the WDZ Stem is slightly narrower than the competitor stems I normally use. This only applies to the plastic, otherwise they are functionally the same. I am including a picture of the WDZ Stem and a competitor's stem below, the WDZ stem is the top one.

As the WDZ Stems have smooth walls both on the exterior and the interior I find cleanup is much easier and faster. They do not seem to 'pick up' as much lint as other stems and if they do you can actually blow it out without it getting caught on a machined surface.

Vapor Taste/Flavor seemed more pronounced and lasting when compared to freshly cleaned stems of another make. I do not know how the smooth walls will affect buildup of condensed vapor.

Overall:

I am very happy with the WDZ-Weizen Model. It performs well and appears to be as durable as any other similar style product available now. I'm not going to say much else here, it just works, and works well.

Conclusion:

In terms of price and availability for a 'ready to run' SS/hardwood 'log' style vaporizer, the WDZ is currently the only game in town. Add to that the willingness of WDZ to accept custom orders beyond just what wood is used in construction, and the WDZ staff have created a new niche for themselves in an already tight and competitive market.
I personally feel that anyone considering purchasing a 'log' style vape should take a long look at the WDZ as well.

The WDZ-Weizen Model gets the "EitherOr - Grand Seal of Approval"

claypool, ha! glad you're enjoying the extra juice, i know i do !

EitherOr, nice review. that's a sweet looking unit. do you feel that your wdz runs a bit hotter than your pd? does the odd shape affect the vapor at all, I wldn't think so, unless it affects how the thing holds heat, but just wondering?

I love my wdz, man. Goddamn I do. It really is perfect as far as I am concerned.

Anyway, regarding the stems, the wdz ones are fine, but they are definitely rougher on the inside than the MZ stems.

Obelisk: I've not noticed any differences in temperature or overall performance. I think the shape is different, but there is probably as much or more material present to help absorb and retain the heat.

As far as the stems, perhaps Todd can chime in and confirm, but on mine at least the interior surface of the stems are as smooth and shiny as the exterior. Perhaps he is using a different material as of late?
