Globally in 2008 there were the big 4 Staples, Corporate Express, Office Max & Office Dept. Then Office Max & Office Depot merged & Staples & CE merged so 4 becomes 2. Then they want 2 to become 1 & make ridiculous statements about WalMart & Amazon providing competition in the market place. The reality is that there are only two B2B players that can satisfy the US contract market & if they merged it would allow Staples to engage in cartel conduct & have unfair market power.
Staples was purchasing Office Depot & the merger was approved in every market except the US & it was never going to be approved in 1,000,000 years. Staples was so confident that it was going through they agreed to a $250m penalty to be paid to their biggest competitor if it failed.
I can assure you that OM then leveraged that $250m in artificially lowering tender prices with the logic of the higher their revenue line the higher their share price is paid as part of the agreement. Profitability was not a concern as it would be Staples problem to address or they would have a $250m cash injection to subsidize the war chest.
This would be why the Staples CEO resigned & the entire board should be held accountable as besides the $100's of millions lost they wiped 40% off the share price the last 12 months.

First and foremost, fuck both of the girls who fucking cheated on me. At least the one was running 5 or 6 guys at once, so I can ignore the evidence that she was trying to make me her primary. I'd call them women, but they don't deserve the title. Now I'm even more cynical, defensive and untrusting than I was. And all my work on socialization is down the fucking drain. On the same subject, a big fuck you to myself for putting way too much of myself into both of those relationships.
Next, fuck the US election. It's splattered all over social media, everyone figures they're now a political expert and need to comment on every single little thing that comes up, it's breaking up friendships, and both of the candidates are scary as hell and I really, really don't want to be living in the country north of either of them when they're president.
Finally, fuck the music scene in my city. Everyone's unreliable, and the bands that look decently reliable require members to drive, and will outright reject you if you mention that you can't.
