Sorry @kellya86 i thought you had a bunch of back & forth & then multiple emails that went unanswered but I must have interpreted it wrong. Regardless if you are happy with the result that is all that matters & hey you are getting a kick arse grinder so all's well ends well :2c:.

Herb gardener...
@Stevenski I had multiple email's explaining my problem, which wasn't the loose grate plate problem that most have. At the end I gave them my address, they told me they would get one posted out to me.....

I'm a patient man who don't like to bug people, so I waited a month before sending a short email to ask what's going on, I got no reply, so I emailed again, still no reply...

Then a couple of days later they contacted me to explain themselves, apologise, and rectify this problem....

They always seem pleasant and keen to help, and Iv seen other's here speak of the high quality customer service...

So I now I wait for a tracking number.....
Waiting for my vapcap too.....
Maybe I should order a zion and a hopper and just wait for shit.....

I'm sure this has been discussed before, but how do you guys handle using multiple strains without multiple grinders?

How far in advance can you grind without loss of freshness or terpenes?
My cannabis stays fresh for at least 4 days after being ground. I've never ground enough to last me longer than that. I'm sure it could last a lot longer than 4 days if stored properly.

The key is to keep it in an airtight container, I use Jyarz and doob tubes. The more full the better, don't put a gram in a huge mason jar, all that oxygen is what causes your material to go stale and dry out.

I have multiple doob tubes and Jyarz of different colors so it makes it easy to keep track of different strains. I especially like the doob tubes for out and about with my portables. They are tiny and take up almost zero space in your pocket, and don't emit any smell at all. They are also great for loading vapes because they are about the same diameter as the chambers on most portables.

Ok I went over to the smoke shop over here to buy the SLX v2 grinder. I was surprised to see that they had a lot of high quality grinders. They had a ton of e-cigarette juices, etc. I didn't really investigate the glass too much, as I have a Cloud Evo with a Hydratube, and would only really want to use it with a Hydratube because inverted the Evo scares me.

Anyhow, that's all fluff to what happened. I asked if they had the grinder, and they said, did you call. I said yes. He had both sizes, the 2.0 and the 2.4" one. I know that the 2.4" was way too big for my use case. Even though I go through an ounce about a month, I use .1 at a time and grind it as needed. The small one looked good but I did not like the spacing of the teeth. It looked like the bigger one had closer spacing of the teeth, but I'm not exactly sure on that. LOL. Anyhow, I remember that a few people here said to go with the big one anyway. The small one was $49.99 and the big one was $59.99. I chose the big one because why the hell not. I actually thought about what he said. This one is for your pocket, this one is for home. I NEVER take my grinder outside. NEVER. So I figured why the hell not.

Anyhow, he charged me $50 flat for the big one. I'm not sure if that was a mistake or because he was giving me a discount. He seemed really happy to have me as a new customer.

So far it seems pretty amazing. Quality quality grinder. I hope I never have to buy another one again.

I think he gave you a discount because he was a fucking good bloke :). Did you feel good about the sale? Will you go back again & support his business? Sounds to me like the guy wanted you to have a good experience so you tell your mates & come back. I also really like the way he described it as a pocket vs home grinder as that makes perfect sense.

I am very happy with the teeth spacing & grind consistency & don't see any reason to purchase another grinder. What colour did you choose? Just wait until you are 3 months into ownership & see how clean it is.

Possibly! I will tell my friends about it definitely. He was a quality dude that's for sure. I got it in Silver. It looks real slick. Probably will go well with that grasshopper I order whenever it gets here.

I like it a lot so far. I think it is a bit big for my use case, but what the hell :-). You only live once, hahaha.

Edit: actually to be quite honest, upon further inspection it looks like it's the champagne color.

Edit edit: I really like though how I can leave the herb on the screen and its large enough for me to use my fingers to pinch up the herb. That's one good reason to have the big one.

I have a charcoal one like the bottom left & would like a green or purple one. It also produces rather pure kief but hopefully SLX creates a genuine three piece with a concave ceramic coated chamber. That is one way to get me to buy a new grinder eventually or better yet sell it as a replacement piece.

How have you found the 2" @CarolKing after a week or two? Looking at the 2" I expect there would be a bit more angle grinding required but not upside down if you like it fine.

Why do you need a concave ceramic chamber? I'm confused. I know ours isn't concave but why is that important?

Second, I think I have the bottom right one, the champagne. The purple one did look good though but I didn't want anything too standoutish.

Thirdly, wow what a novel idea about grinding upside down. I just tried it right now and holy shit. I think that was the best ELB I ever hit in my Cloud Evo. Two factors, one of the best strains (White Fire OG) and one of the best grinders :-).

It's amazing how when you pay for quality you get quality.

I'm still pissed I got a busted sharpstone that cost me $20 when I was in Colorado. The magnet came out and I accidentally put it back in backwards. Only had the thing 3 months. But after seeing all the kief in every nook and cranny, I think it was a sign to get an SLX. And now after getting my technique down, I know the magnet popping out was a sign. LOL

Mainly because having it concaved means no hard corners to catch kief & you can load a stem easier much like I do with a bowl of weed that I usually decant into. Alternatively they could raise the sidewall by a couple mm on the bottom chamber.

I store my herb with 62% Boveda packs & I have found holding it at a natural 30-45° & grinding produces optimal results for me & my vapes at least.

Truer words never spoken. I subscribe to buy right, buy once but there are a bunch of right grinders on the market.

I like grinding upside down but have realized that is probably not optimal for the kief in the bottom chamber. It's now sticking to the mesh screen because I'm holding it upside down. I may have to modify the technique and pull the screen out before i turn it upside down and then carefully place it back in.

I like grinding upside down cause I can control the level of the grind, and with the Cloud Evo, I think the finest grind is best.

Still loving the SLX. What a great grinder.

Cloudy...
I'm a happy user of SCS grinders. I have an old red one (finner screen, build more solid IMO) and a new black that I bought this year.

I was just looking at this post and feel really interested about an SLX, it seems like it takes care of one of the issues I always had with grinders: build up.

With the scs I just brush it really often and I don't mind too much because it has the perfect fluffy grind I love. But after reading a bit it seems like the SLX has a fluffy grind too and his coating is damn amazing!!

Would you recomend the upgrade guys? How is the grind compared to the SCS? Because if the grind is close/similar I think I'm gonna have to buy one soon...

Good old amazon fucked it up for me also, DON'T buy the SLX off amazon.

They gave me a 2 inch when I payed for and clearly orderd a 2.4.

The 2 inch is all they have the 2.4 inch listing is a LIE. The box mine came in even says 2.4 inch but can obviously not have it in there as the fucking thing is only 2 inches wide in the first place.

Haven't used it and I'm gonna return it.

EDIT: I have found and online retailer which SEEMS legit and it even has other nice perks for us looking to get this item. Assuming it pans out as advertised I'll let you all know about it, but for now I'll be the guinea pig.

I'm not worried, made sure to buy from a seller who has amazon fulfillment for this reason.

Gonna drop it by the box tomorrow morning and then take dog for a hike.

I will update whenever the order from the new retailer arrives.

Does anyone know of a place (besides Amazon) to purchase a SLX grinder? I would prefer a sponsor of FC.

I bought it at a local shop from their store locator. Not sure if that helps you.

I searched a few places online. I wouldn't use Amazon. I didn't see it at puffitup or vape world

I rolled the dice with an SLX Amazon order and did receive the correct 2.4" grinder (seller Sunshine Widgets, ordered 7/26). If you're feeling lucky as well, it may be worth watching the prices a day or two. I hadn't had my heart set on any particular color and noted that the silver alone was $42 instead of the other's $58... silver it is! It since has changed to the $58 price, so may have been an anomaly. It's too bad Amazon is seemingly so inconsistent in shipping correctly; I'm usually on that end of that stick, I feel for you guys.

As to the actual product, so far, the grinder is fantastic! I reserve judgement as it has not seen much use yet, though I will begin to remedy that today. Still, initial impressions are very positive- it has chewed right through some really dense material with minimal effort, the action and threads are smooth, the knurled grip is a nice feature, and the magnet is strong. I don't store in the grinder but I like that there is a gasket between the two bottom pieces. The grind seems to be fluffier than what my my golden gate and sharpstone grinders that I am upgrading from provided and the build quality/tolerances appear to be superior. It has a good weight and feel, attractive appearance to me.

If I were to gripe, I do wish there was more real estate to grip on to on the top piece, even if at the expense of making the entire unit a skosh taller. It would also be great if they incorporated a quarter turn twist lock rather than standard threads in future models to minimize screwing. To be fair, this may not bother the vast majority of buyers but one major factor in my decision to upgrade is having had problems with my hands/grip in recent months, I was looking to up my grinding game with something that would take physically less effort with better ergonomics. The SLX has been successful to that end.

Thanks to all for steering me toward the SLX, my only regret is waiting twenty years to invest in a quality grinder! lol
