So I figured out on vapornation since I wasn't taxed and had about 20 bucks in rewards money with them that I could order my Volcano! Ordered a Volcano Classic with Solid Valve and an extra roll of bag material, and they threw in a $60 volcano soft vape case for free, along with a grinder and Tight vac case. Got everything for about $465 total, can't wait until it gets here and I can christen it with some nice Sage and Sour. Happy to soon be part of the Cano family! :science:

I also bought mine from VaporNation and I can't compliment them enough for their customer service.

Enjoy it and come back and tell us how you use it, how you like it, etc. Inquiring minds want to know. LOL

what would be a more efficient and easier way for me to vape? small amount + liquipad, small amounts NO liquipad, or a reducing chamber + dosing capsules

I really dont want to mess with refilling the capsules as sometimes in one session i will fill the chamber 4-5 times with a very miniscule amount and get one bag and do it 3-4 more times

2. Should i buy the regular size EZ fill bag refills or the XL? Some friends told me bigger bags = more resin inside the bag collecting and thus less in your lungs. Others say getting the XL bag means you get that extra bit of vapor esp for me since i am not filling a second bag each chamber since i use so little

I want to make an order on S&B website for 6 more EZ fill bags, few more liquipads since i only have one, and possibly the reducing chamber + dosing capsules + magazine.

After reading thru the last 16 pages of threads I see that using the reducing chamber without the dosing capsules is not an option i guess my true question is what will produce better (stronger and thicker) vapor my current mini amounts + liquipad or the dosing capsules

Would like to place this order tomorrow as my bag is old and needs replacing

I'm also quite efficiency focused. And when I got started, I used to set the unit to Max or close to it just so I'd extract everything I could. Eventually started to wind things back and follow the advice of a few on here, I'm now using 377F always now and am confident that what does (or does not) remain in the ABV, I probably don't need or want!
I combine this with starting with a pinch,
and adding a tiny pinch for each bag. So there's no "bags getting weaker" as you progress. Often I'll crush the ABV remains for the last bag, nice, but I'm not sure how much of that is vapor or just dust!
I tried pad, and custom screen I made, cotton wool, and open chamber. I found open to be the easiest, with close to same results as anchoring the load.

I also recently got reduced chamber insert and caps, but have ran out of herbs before I got to test fully for Volcano!! I can say....,
The insert alone should do you fine if you're ok with your hands and small tools.
Also, I think the DCapsules will allow use for a movie in the dark, or stargazing, music session etc
Reduced chamber w/o capsules I found the herbs looked greener. Probably all that steel robs a chunk of heat at the start. Need to run more tests lol

Found a great use for old used cano bags...bag milk! Using whole fat milk I take the old bags and cut them open and into 4 pieces , simmer in 1/2 gallon of whole fat milk for about 15 minutes. The resulting bag milk taste horrible so mix in a milk shake or protein shake. Warning this can be very strong - depending on the age of the bags and material that was vaped. I normally use 4-6 oz in a shake...8 oz if I'm feeling froggy!

Turkey roasting bags work great with the easy valve setup. So much easier to change and way less noise.

Oh yeah, that could be strong alright!!! Must try that next.
I wonder if some of the bad taste is from handling greases on the bag outer? As I ran into a similar problem lately while vaping strips of bag (Calamari de Volcano!) inside my EV chamber!
Either it was hand grease/dirt I tasted, or I was pushing the limits of the polyester at 202'C

To me, in the Volcano, the Reduced Chamber seems intended, and works best, with a dosing capsule.
In my case, I also wanted to see if the chamber alone would result in my methods using less material overall, but I ran out while trying hehe!
The extra mass of metal appeared to prevent some heat from reaching the load, but I'm looking forward to messing about some more with it soon.
You really can do micro wonders with the standard large bowl though! And the reduced one seems a little fiddly to fill/add to compared to the fullsize chamber.
The main differences are probably closely related to airspeed/venturi in the two different chambers.

Thanks and look forward to your views of using the reduced chamber (RC) with and without the dosing capsule. To me, the RC just didn't hold the herb int he chamber well in native mode without the DC. It did not get out of the entire chamber assembly, but some got out of the actual reduced chamber and was on the wide lip of metal surrounding it. So, some gets by the top screen, with out DC I agree that extraction seemed less efficient, and I agree that I can run pretty small doses in my regular chamber and it works just fine.

My view is the RC is best with the DC which will work very well for people who have to load multiple doses at a time to include caregivers for very compromised med cannabis patients. I can see the value of this set up and the disposable DCs for users of that ilk. I have found the RC/DC also works well for that rarer occasion when I really want to blow it out and make an herb/shatter sandwich in the DC and vape it at fairly high temp. But those are "say goodnight, Grace" loads for me.

I also think this concept would be very useful in a Plenty with smaller loads as it will keep the load from dropping to one side when the chamber is perpendicular to the ground when picked up and hit (why people do have to anchor smaller Plenty loads, I understand).

Cheers

As I learned in my search for a Volcano, it is a product they company just doesn't discount and on every website I went on it said Storz & Bickel products are not eligible for coupon codes. Best I could find was a free volcano vape case and the classic unit + solid valve for $479. Mine comes in the mail on Tuesday, can't wait although I won't be able to give it a good test until Wednesday night as I am going to a Kevin Smith event in NJ Tuesday night (which will be awesome )

With S&B only "extras" can be used to make a deal appealing.
I know of a Vape Concern that gave 20% off entire website once.....
and S&B removed him from Authorized dealer list for over 2 years.
They are very strict about suggested Manufacturer retail price, and EVERYONE must conform.
They want NO seller to have an advantage over the price S&B charges, and they do not tolerate discounts or sales.
Some sellers send special treats along with an S&B product that just makes doing business with them special!

You can find both versions of the 'cano at a discount at vaporseller.com. Will your purchase be covered by S&B warranty? Well, I ran across a dealer selling the vape at a considerably lower price some years ago and asked S&B if I'd have a warranty if I bought from the specified dealer at that price. The answer was yes, as in 'if you buy from a dealer it's covered'. Can you take that old email response to the bank and feel 100% assured? At worst though you have no warranty but a very reliable vape at a significant discount. I do know that Vaporseller has sold products in the past that they're not authorized dealers for, but they've also been around for quite a while now, so although they won't be an official FC recommended dealer, no worries that they'll take your money and leave town.

I wouldn't call saving $12 a sale :)
I know @max was trying to be helpful.

Vaporseller is using the old "inflate the list price" trick to make it seem like their special "sale" is a deal.
And, add on an easy valve starter (need bags, it is a bag vape) and now it's $467
S&B sells same kit for $479.

Looks like some dealers are playing pricing games with the valve set. I didn't look close- just saw a significant price difference, and Vaporseller has had some low low pricing on some products in the past.

I would definitely have a caveat emptor attitude when it comes to this dealer. You'll get what you ordered, but they aren't customer service oriented.

Locally, I have found Volcanos on Craigslist for patients with extreme budgetary limitations.
I have been lucky.. all have been perfect.
In most cases the Volcano was never used, and collected dust for a time.
I would only buy from Craigslist locally, and never have the seller to my home.
This one may be an example.. look at the description, and at the dust on it.. and the film is still on the screen:

And in case this sells too fast, and the link is no good, here is a screenshot.

So I did a test; stock bowl with & without the concentrate pad... .01g for each variation; a very thin coating on the screen.

Between the two, using the concentrate pad gave me denser vapor!

After some thought, I realized that it might be due to the material being held in place and heated, as opposed to buffeted by the blower and heated.

To be clear, I saw less density from the "loose" variation... maybe due to the chaotic movement of the loose material resulting in a bit less extraction?

Sorry, introspective strain in effect... :brow:

Want to try wax/shatter/crumble in my Volcano

My one friend uses gauze at 375 and my other friend uses the liquipad

What would be my best bet?

I do NOT want to ruin my Volcano and if need be i will buy a separate vape for the wax/crumble but if i could avoid that after purchasing the Volcano that would be awesome

Interested in this as well, my Volcano should be here tomorrow and I have a decent amount of shatter on hand and was curious about trying some of that out at some point after I break it in a bit

Go easy, and center the small piece of shatter well.... don't cover the entire pad, as shatter runs from heat (toward the edges)/
A piece in the center will spread just enough, and vape well without leaving residues in the chamber.

Good to know, thanks! Once I get a chance to break the new volcano in tomorrow night I am going to just use flower but next week some time may try a small piece of shatter to see how the flavor is.

I'm with Vitolo....that's why they produce a pad for concentrates....not sure why anyone would want to use a 3rd party screen (or am I misunderstanding).

For me...I love my Volcano and do not want to make a gunked up concentrate machine out of it....much cheaper and easier ways to boil off shatter. BUT, I do from time to time use a dosing capsule in a reduced chamber with herb-shatter-herb sandwich or herb-pollen-herb sandwich but I keep the amount of concentrate small as that stuff migrates anywhere it can. Even with the dosing capsule and herb sandwich approach, I get a bit of migrating shatter through the holes on the lid.

Is the Volcano the most exciting vape...nah, its a bag vape which takes some of the gusto out of vaping for me. But it is rock solid, utterly consistent, a great extractor, and a real vape machine that I have never regretted buying.

Excited to break my new Volcano in tonight after work! Got a dentist appointment at 4:00 to get a couple cavities filled then after that, home to get my volcano prepped and wait for the numbing to wear off, then fill a few bags solo and enjoy ! Sage and Sour will be first up in the chamber

Well, got to break my volcano in for the first time tonight, had a couple people over and got about 5 good bags and a ok one out of about .4 and all of us were probably good enough after the second bag...but its a new vape so clearly we kept going!

I just did two solo bags while watching some tv and am very nicely relaxed and getting ready for bed. Definitely a solid purchase.

It is a fabulous machine. Reliable, built like a tank and best of all, consistent.

I really couldn't believe how much it extracted out of the chamber, and then the AVB is STILL an insane amount lighter then when I have used other vaporizers in the past. Happy it is Friday so I can use the Volcano all weekend
So glad you like yours...I love mine and have never regretted this purchase for a moment.

Re: AVB...I don't save it out of my conduction portables or even my Grasshopper. But I think Volcano AVB is well worth saving and taking a stab at making cannabutter or the like out of it. Just something to think about.

To me, the Volcano isn't the most exciting vape experience...its generally not the "ripper's choice" for smoking brain cells, but it does work absolutely consistently, effectively, pretty efficiently, and results are totally reproducible time and time again which is so important for medical patients.

Enjoy your new vape machine :clap:
