Mobius Flowerpot

Alright, y'all. I ordered a Flower Pot V2 just now from JF Friendly. Now I gotta go get a 20-mm coil for the enail. They said no info whatsoever comes with it, so I dropped a note to Mobius for any tips, tricks, instructions, etc. I'm really optimistic this will be, at last, an herb vaporizer that is both effective/efficient and not cumbersome or inconvenient to use.

thats weird no info is with it.

but i cant wait to hear your review of it

did you ask Mobius in your email what temp your coil should be around?
If not, you may end up experimenting for a while
As for example the errlectric vaporizer coil is at around 800 degrees F for high temp hits on it

Apparently although the V1 was for an enail, this is not, I just found out. They wrote, "Do a search for "Flower Pot" within this group on FB and you will find lots of good info for how to use the Flower Pot. The V2 model, which I believe is the one that JFriendly has, is NOT enail compatible. Enail compatibility at this point, is not a viable heating option. The V2 is only torch compatible but works incredibly well. https://www.facebook.com/groups/mobiusglass/?ref=bookmarks"

Would you believe I don't even own a torch? I used one once and then was exposed to using an enail and never looked back. And none of my friends vaporize concentrates, unless they're at my house and I'm turning them on to it (hazard of being in my 40s). So I'll be starting from 100% novice with regard to torching. Like I said, I've only ever even been around torching concentrates one time. But I'm really intrigued with using the Flower Pot to vaporize flowers, so here goes!

Should be interesting.

Is there a torch that would be better or worse for this?

Wow this is torch only?? Who would've known.. Well read up and good luck!

dont use propane as it could do damage to the quartz pretty quickly with its super high temps

id go to bed bath and beyond and get the crumble torch for like $25. they have coupons online. then go to the gas station and get a $5 bottle of butane

I got into the FB group, perused the notes last night extensively. Once I have the thing, I'll put together a more informed step by step, but here's what it looks like:
1) grind weed fine, put desired quantity in bucket, no higher than the third level.
2) place other piece on top of bucket
3) Using a torch, heat the thick quartz part below the long thin handle for 12-17 seconds. Apparently placing the piece on a gas stove works well too.
4) Immediately breathe in 1-3 times
5) Remove top piece, tamp or stir as needed, then replace top
6) re-torch for 5-6 seconds
7) inhale again
8) Empty bucket, repeat as needed

Now, I have literally never used a torch for dabbing (had someone do it for me, just once), always an enail. So this will be an adventure. I expect mine next week!!! Given that John from Mobius said it works "incredibly well", I have to be optimistic. I'm sure my guess at steps above will be fine tuned as I play with this little dealie. Note to self: must buy a torch!

Thanks for the info!! Pretty much exactly like I thought it was going to work, can't wait to get it now...should be fun....

CRAP-----just discovered the version they have at jfriendly is a V1 of the flowerpot. I called and confirmed......because they just got them, I assumed they were V2......they told me they have already ordered the "top" with the long stem, which they are saying is the only difference, and told me they would ship me one upon receipt, which will hopefully be next week.

I am so confused. Can you help me understand the appeal of this product or technique? Maybe my strong bias against torches is clouding my judgment here but there seems to be so many more attractive (to me, at least) alternatives.

Thanks - and I SO hope the flowerpot far exceeds your most optimistic hopes!! :)

Well, for me, I have yet to try an herb vaporizer that is relatively easy to use and truly effective. I haven't tried any of the fancier desktop vapes or portable vapes discussed so much on fuckcombustion. Just a Vapolution years ago (cumbersome), a Volcano years ago (effective but cumbersome), and more recently Firefly and Pax2 handheld vaporizers. The Firefly and Pax 2 have yet to get me properly stoned. I have done some reading of details and reviews for the VapeXhale EVO and people seem pretty happy with them, but I haven't had the opportunity to try one yet.

Plus, I'm kind of a Mobius fanboy, so new stuff from them is of particular interest to me. I don't have a desktop flower vape, just my wife's PAX2 handheld one, so I'm kinda looking for an herb one and this is intriguing. I'm skeptical it'll knock my socks off, because no flower vape ever has, but hope springs eternal.

ALSO, Andrew from Mobius emailed me to say that he's making a function video tonight, so all the questions should be answered soon.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I am super curious about your impressions after you have ample opportunity to experience the flowerpot first hand as it does not seem particularly easy to use - but again, that might just be my strong bias against torches. I sure hope I am wrong and that it turns out to be unimaginably perfect for you. :)

THANK YOU. I contacted them and also discovered that despite the photo of the v2 that I ordered on their site, they too had planned on sending me the V1. I told them to cancel the order! WTF JFriendly????? Guess I'm still on the quest for one of these.

To me, this thing seems like it could be much like the supreme, only a bit easier to use. A large heat source suspended above your product releasing a blast of heat over your herbs as you inhale. Heat the block (quartz instead of aluminum), place on filled bowl and hit it. Seems extremely simple. And from what I can tell from the few postings about it, apparently it works quite well. I guess we will soon see.

I received the Flower Pot (almost V2) today. I have to say, it shows serious promise.

The piece is beautiful. Just stunning. I expected that from Mobius. However, the one I got is not the final version of the V2...the top cap on mine does not have the long stem attached as pictured on the previous post....but otherwise it is exactly the same as best I can tell (and was told by the vendor after I ordered).

So I got out my Scorch Torch (biggest torch I had at that moment), and my Mobius Ion Matrix with 14mm adapter, and prepared to give it a trial. Filled bowl to just first mark (the bowl is HUGE), and put on the cap, and started to heat. Counted to about 30 (knew I would need much longer than the directions posted on this thread as those are using a propane torch---more on that shortly), and tried to take a hit....nothing. Need more heat. 20 more seconds---nothing. Another 20, still no vapor. Starting to get a bit of flavor though. This went on a time or 2 more, then I hit it with about a 30 second heat----and when I started to draw, the bowl went orange and we had full out combustion!!! Dammit!! Fortunately, everything on this thing is glass----everything except screen. Nothing to get fouled by smoke. Quick rinse and 5 minutes later it's time to try again.

This time I heated for about a minute, then for several 10-20 second bursts. After a few tries I finally hit the PERFECT temp and got a PHENOMENAL hit. I am not kidding, it white-walled my piece like nothing ever has and delivered a monster hit. One of the biggest I've had from any vape ever. I was able to get several more hits off this bowl while I was in the right temp range. It was very nice, but had to watch heat as I was getting close to ignition again. You can see the herb CLEARLY in the bowl as you hit and watch it change, with the all glass bowl right in front of you, it's so cool!!!

In reality though, the torch I had was simply not going to work. You'd never get consistent temps having to hold it on there for 90 seconds or more, and same for reheats between bowls. On the facebook thread (and contrary to a post earlier in this thread about propane being too hot for the quartz---I know nothing on this subject?), John Mobius recommends and practically insists on using a Bernzomatic TS8000 High Intensity Trigger Start Torch, so I went to Home Depot and got one.

Sheesh, this thing is huge and it is loud. Nothing discreet happening here. Pretty sure my neighbors can hear this thing.

Anyway, fresh load, this time I heat for about 17 seconds from cold, and I get a perfect hit. Perfect. Excellent. I am not kidding, it was fabulous.

I rest for a few seconds (so I can recover), 6-7 second reheat, and another excellent hit.....I got several more hits like this. Seemed to go on a while, and I got consistent results each draw.

So, it works incredibly well. I am just so pleased at this moment.

BUT (and it's a big but), the lack of a way to handle that hot cap due to not having the stem simply sucks! I got a set of silicone coated tongs that are perfect to handle it for now, but not an ideal long-term solution. I hope the vendor comes through and makes this right as they said they would. Also, having to use that large ass torch is a huge turn off for me. Hope to find something in the middle that can be used, but not sure as longer heat times exasperate the lack of any type of temp sensor. Last drawback is same as most torch devices......that heated block of quartz is really, really hot and a bit dangerous. Much like the Supreme, caution MUST be exercised at all times.

Now that I have a proper torch (but I hate the torch itself so big and loud), I think I love this vaporizer. 100% glass except the screen. Nothing else at all. Not one wire, scrap of lead, solder, glue, or anything else that gets complained about. No butane being inhaled (not that I personally worry much about most of that stuff, just sayin'), all without being plugged in. I kid you not, and I won't swear to this yet, but I believe this hits on the level of the Supreme. More testing needed, which will take a bit due to the need for additional privacy. I get that it's fragile (actually feels pretty strong, I guess because it's quartz?), but it's not for travel. It pairs so nicely with my Ion too. So simple and looks elegant sitting on top of it!! What a beautiful pair.

Fantastic review friend!

i now want one..

But we are the same. Torches are such a turn off!

This does sounds so similar to the Sv3, i would really like to be able to compare. Not only the strength of these vapes, but the flavor.

if the flower pot has the hits of the Sv3, but with an even better flavor because of the quartz i just might have to try this out too..

Mobius does put out some high quality percolators, so i do not doubt this is a high quality vaporizer

Function video of the Flower Pot in action would make my day

Get a close up of the flowers in action vaporizing if possible too. The description you had of that sounds so cool

Here is the two concepts combined. SV3FlowerPot! I used an Arizer EQ Tower m2f adapter that has a screen in it already as the quartz/glass flower pot and the Supreme brings the heat. It is not exactly what the flower pot is, however I bet it's pretty close in performance and flavor.

I had fun with this last night. So much so that I just spent a good bit of time tracking down another one, and just successfully purchased it. This one is the correct version with the long stem on the cap/heater. So stoked to have found it. I'd post pics and vid, but sadly am woefully unequipped to do so.

Of course, then I had to get a new waterpipe to match it....so I got this lavender Mobius Nuc.......should hit really nicely with the Flowerpot. Love it.

I can tell you, the site above does have a couple more v2 Flowerpots, even though they show out of stock and no picture up at the moment. I just hung up the phone with them so as of now I believe they have 2 or 3 left.

Such exciting purchases
i bet you are more than ready to match them up together and stare at them while stoned!

i want to give this vape a try. i just hate using torch so dont know how much it would get used
I'm so disappointed they took away the 20mm enail option for this.....

I cannot believe I got so lucky to get a piece like that (the lavender/crushed opal), and I cannot wait to receive it. The vendor I linked had them both shipped to me today already (Flowerpot and the Nuc), and their level of service has simply been extraordinary. Could not be more impressed. Now, if I can get the cap with stem the first vendor promised me, I will have a full back up to the fragile glass vaporizer :). I wanted to get these while available, because Mobius pieces already seem hard to find.

Received the V2 today. It is nearly identical to the first one I got, but not exactly (except that long stem on cap of course). Bowl piece is sized a bit taller, with a bit more depth under the screen and a little more rounded there-----the portion of bowl holding your product looks about the same. It has a black trimmed handle with crushed opal surrounding it....it is really something. Every angle you look at that part looks different. Just visually stunning and very cool. The cap piece is a bit shorter than the first one, not including the stem. It appears to protrude a little less into the bowl by a mm or two (heat moved slightly away). I am happy to have the cap with stem now...should making handling easier/safer, and it looks like it will work on both flowerpots I have, as all parts will work interchangeably with the two I have (I think---cannot test until tonight , if then). However, I do not expect it to function even a tiny bit different than the one I already had, just a bit safer and easier handling.

I love this vaporizer, it is extremely effective. I am blown away. Absolute pure convection, I can hit it once and walk away and come back later with no degradation of product---none. Re-heat and hit again. Or I can take multiple hits as a session. Excellent flavor (as good as it gets), incredibly smooth and powerful vapor, excellent extraction and incredible results.

Only drawback for me is the torch. I hate this big plumbers torch. Hate it. And the lack of temp sensor. The temp sensor is no big deal, as I am getting very consistent results by timing how long I apply heat. However, considering the application, it's not hard to lose track what you are doing:tup:. I have only combusted once, and that was the very first use. I've slightly charred a bowl or 2 since, but no more combustion. Still, I hate the torch and would love to find an alternative.

Oh yeah, I also got the Nuc today. When I first opened it, I was not sure about the lavender color. I thought the color was a bit, let's say "feminine". It has crushed opal trim on the bottom edge inside the lavender, and the same at the mouthpiece. Then, I got it into some good light, and I am floored. This piece is magnificent. The little matrix perc is flawless and a marvel. The mouthpiece is custom as well, not the normal fluted mouthpiece (I think, anyway). The crushed opal is phenomenal. A totally custom Mobius piece. It almost looks too nice to use, and I don't want to "soil" it. The more I stare at it, the more I love it.

Then I set the new Flowerpot on the Nuc.......ok, mic drop.

Yeah, exactly - and that is why I am so confused about the appeal of this product when Errlectric makes pretty much what you are asking for. Heh, I just don't get it...

Well, I feel the same way about all the wires and such with the Errlectric.....I've looked at that thing multiple times, but dislike all the wiring mostly due to not being able to set it up anywhere in my apartment due to kids etc......this set up with the Flowerpot is just bong with flowerpot sitting on it and torch. Easy.

But I can't use the torch when anyone is around either, it's just way too loud. However....I can get this thing out, fill bowl, and heat all in about 45 seconds.....it's near instant. So I only need a small window if I want to use it. Or at night. I'd rarely be able to get out and set up an Errlectric., and then use it. Even in the evening I don't envision being able to quickly put up the Errlectric if need arises. So neither of these is ideal, and exactly why I have many other vape options. Plus I like all the devices and their variances, and would love to have an Errlectric someday.

And this thing hits like a freight train to boot. So there's that......

In no way can I compare the vape itself to an Errlectric, as I have never used one. I can say, I have a Supreme, EVO, Brick, Nano, and others, and at this point I am inclined to think this hits as smooth and hard as the very best of those, or perhaps it is best (subjective and partly emotional, new vape syndrome :)). I don't know, not saying it is, but it's as good as any of them PERFORMANCE wise. But it has it's drawbacks, like nearly every vape I have.

Edit: I'd like to add, I really have no aversion to using torchs overall, but I am talking hand-held butane style. Using this near 2 foot tall torch is just a bit much. At minimum I need to find a smaller tank for it.

Edit 2: maybe this would work?

Still big but not near as big as what I am using now, at least looks a lot more manageable?

Got to try the latest version V2 tonight. No change in performance except the long stem does, indeed, make handling the cap much easier. It does not get too hot to handle at the tip, and works as intended. Makes cap seem far more fragile though. Pairs incredibly well with the Nuc. Very nice.

OK, so I bought the torch listed above in the link I posted. Just got it tonight. Damn, it's near perfect. Size is MUCH more manageable, even smaller than I thought it would be. Was concerned it wouldn't be big enough at first, but throws heat at like 3500 degrees. The can of propane/butane is almost exactly the size of a 12 oz. can of soda. With torch on top it stands about 7 1/4 inches tall, and the torch portion is about 9 inches from tip of torch to back of handle. Fits very nicely in hand. The only thing I don't really like is the knob to turn it on/off, but it's more than workable and just a minor thing. It does lock in the flame on position, and you turn off by shutting off the gas (that's the part I don't like). Oh yeah, they shipped via a trucking company and delivered 2 shoe box sized boxes to my apartment in an 18 wheeler. He couldn't pull into my complex, but had called so I met him on street. Comical, but a total pain in the ass. Luckily I was home when he arrived at 7:30 tonight. Also of luck, I ordered 3 additional cans of fuel, and 2 came with torch. So 5 cans of fuel total. Glad I did (and now that I know this torch works, wish I had gotten more cans of fuel), because the fuel has to be ordered and, as stated, that's a PITA.

So I filled the Flowerpot, and lit the torch.....17 second heat, only light vapor. Gave it a few seconds, then heated about another 8 seconds and got a MEGA HIT.....huge, thick, milky cloud.....incredible......I was literally sweating. And the flower in bowl is still greenish----still several more hits left, but I'll have to come back later. I don't need another right now. I am wrecked. Pure convection bliss, and now an acceptable heat source. I am in heaven. Bliss.

Now this torch I don't mind. The 2 foot tall plumbers torch was just too much. And too loud. Sounded like a jet passing through when I lit it. This new one is not exactly quiet, but it is probably not half as loud as the other. And incredibly, seems to heat almost exactly as well. May need to add a second or 2 to first heat cycle (19-20 seconds instead of 17), then 5-6 second bursts for subsequent hits (just like other torch) if I don't let it cool too long. Otherwise, I usually just let it cool completely and then start over with an initial heat cycle. I could not be happier with how it performed.

The hit I just got from this vape was among the best hits I have ever had from any vaporizer, including my beloved Supreme and Brick. Just incredible. The torch was all that was missing. This torch is near perfect for this vaporizer, and now this set up feels complete. It's also very usable. I can have flower in the bowl AND heated in less than one minute easily. Pour a little flower in the huge, accessible bowl, set on the cap, light torch and count to 20, take hit. Then, if standing, sit down. If already seated, sit back and smile.

The only vapes I can think of (in my stoned state ATM) that I can get loaded and taking a hit faster are my Nano (only because I leave it on 24/7, from a cold start it can't compete here), and the Milaana.

This vape has exceeded my expectations in every single way. The torch was the missing link. And with that riddle solved, this set-up is outstanding.
