Pretty partial to a 3 piece, no need or want to save keif here.

How simple is it to remove the screen if I were to not want it in my SLX?

Or can the screen section simply be removed and it then used like a 3 peice?

I'm looking at it in this video.
The screen section drops in without any threading. You can easily remove it and use the SLX as a 3 piece.

Edit: Because of the way the screen section works I like to think of the grinder as a 3.5 piece.

I thought I might prefer the smaller size, so I held on to it. Unfortunately I have come to a realization that the larger one will suit me better. I am in the same boat as you now, trying to find a reputable website to purchase from as there are no physical retail locations near me.

The large is the go. That extra ring of teeth & the smaller edge hole pattern make a difference. Itis just a fucking beast of a grinder the amount of nug it can churn up.

I weigh out usually .1 at a time, so I think the smaller one is the one I should go with.

Maybe I'll drive by there at some point and see what they got going on.

Would most people agree that the SLX is the way to go? Has anyone had any experience with the coating coming off or something like that?

That might be a good idea. I grind at least 1g at a time so we obviously have different volume requirements :).

I can't speak for anyone else but mine is sort of "scuffed" on the wear points. Not scratched but slightly worn/scuffed if that makes sense. Nothing I am remotely concerned about but I suggest a good 5 minute dry grind & then a quick toothbrishing & Iso before use to get rid of any residues.

Pretty sure @MoltenTiger got his first & then I got mine on this forum but first impressions count & I am considerably more impressed after over 6 months of heavy use than I was initially.

After a week of puttin in solid work I am really loving my SLX . The buds I have been putting through it are some of the densest I have seen in 20+ years. With bud this dense you can't fill the hopper & grind but fill it say 50% & this fucker rips it up with gusto. Due to the ceramic coating it can sound a bit scratchy but the SLX is as smooth as silk & you can instantly tell when the grind is finished as it will spin with no resistance.

I have put somewhere between 15-20g through it in the last week & it has developed a very nice kief deposit already. If I put that much through most grinders I would expect some form of residue but it is as clean as the day I opened the box. At this stage I cannot speak highly enough about this grinder & have no regrets purchasing it over the GR8TR or SCS. When I turn it upside down for a finer grind I am not having kief drop through either. If anyone is after a new grinder I highly recommend the SLX :2c:

I got one of my housemates to buy one last year, I bought my first metal grinder last year (a $30 "pollinator") before seeing the SLX.

After maybe a month of dank fruit punch grinding I decided the $30 was wasted and I should have put it towards a premium product. The Teflon gasket broke, it was a pain to keep clean and the grind it produced was sub par. But, I definitely preferred the 4-piece experience for vaping beyond scissors or a coffee grinder.
After seeing the SLX in person, I knew I should just get one ASAP.
It's not perfect, but it's close enough. I upgraded early this year, after recommending it to @Stevenski.

I gave my old grinder to a friend, and quite seriously the difference between the two looks like the SLX promotional image showing a gunked up metal grinder and a nearly spotless SLX. I've also put almost twice as much (probably more) material through the SLX.

There has been slight 'thinning' of the ceramic surface on the threads and on the metal-metal contact in the grinding section. However I haven't noticed anything in the kief or on the bud. The kief screen is very fine, and so the colour of kief is very clean generally. The ceramic has some kind of electro-plated proprietary application, so I assume it would be similar to an anodised grinder in terms of wear, or probably more realistically, a high quality ceramic coated cooking pan. As long as you don't scratch it with a harder material, it should be fine.

I recommend the larger 2.4" over the 2" small, mainly because of the cut-out hole size/shape. It can cope with tiny amounts of bud, or a full chamber and it produces basically the same size grind either way.

Here she is after 5 months of service, it's never seen ISO, only a quick brush twice, and this image is 'dirty'.

A month later and it still looks like that.

Wow, interesting. Both you guys suggest the larger one. I'll have to see them in person to see what's up :-). Maybe I'll take a trip over there at some point either today or something. This sharp stone with the busted magnet is driving me nuts. And the kief is in every ridge of every screw section of this thing. LOL

I don't mind paying for quality as long as it lasts. I thought the $20 for a sharp stone that is really small was expensive, but honestly, I can't believe it broke after 3 months. My only grinder ever to do that.

So then I said, I'm gonna buy a Santa Cruz and be done with it. But now that I've seen the SLX, I just need that one :-). The reason I ask about the coating, is just cause I don't want to inhale it somehow by accident. That's all I was worried about honestly.

Thanks guys for all your information. You've been a big help!

I haven't actually seen the two sizes in person, I recommend the larger size because of @CarolKing's comments about coarse grind, and the holes shapes from her photo. But also, extra leverage is probably worthwhile. If I fill it up with a couple of grams it does take a bit of strength to initially turn it. Obviously this won't be an issue if you're only grinding small amount (as I generally do, normally I only grind up enough for a few chambers if that).

If you do get a chance to compare them in person, I'd be interested to hear what you have to say. I'd imagine the differences to be very subtle though.

I recently picked up one of the mini space case scout grinders, the one with the sifter.
I am really liking it for a on the go grinder and small size is nice for tapping out erb straight into my Mightys chamber.
It is easy to grind since it is quite a bit taller than wide. Also grinds to a nice med/fine grind and has enough capacity for a few bowls.

I think this is the first grinder smaller than 2" that I actually like!

I have also been using the volcano grinder as a finishing grinder when needed now

Had a few issues with my SantaCruzShredders cross threading and stripping some of the coating off the threads. Think I, going back to space case for that precision.

Looks like a job for!
Welp, fuckin sold.

Guess now its only to debate to find a online retailer (is there a legit one?)

Or drive to a shop on the list next day off.

Called both of the shops which are listed on SLX's vendor page today:

Shop 1: "nah man I'm not seeing a SLX grinder I think we r sold out, or the manufacturer is wrong and we never had it."

Shop 2: Fucking asshole who will not answer the question over the phone "come on by and check us out, see if we got it yourself" Bro did you not listen to the part at the beginning of the call were I said it was a fair drive? Fuck that shop.

Cue the Amazon order, hopefully they get mine right.

Do you have a tracking number or it hasn't be shipped yet?

My original order went in 17 days (6 days with our lovely customs) and the warranty one came in 10 days from shipping but one month in total due grasscity being slow...

You're not really lucky on this one...
Maybe try to send them more email ;)

There is already an existing post and this grinder has been discussed here a few pages ago, the igg campaign is also known here...

Is this a new video showing the grinder in action without editing or cuting, or showing us the cleaning process of a gunked unit?
Or it is just an advertising post?

Volo retail just got back to me about my gr8tr warranty replacement, they wasn't ignoring me, they had just been really busy, and had some troubles with trying to replace my grinder from the UK.

But now they are just going to send me one from the US....

I'm happy again......

And sorry I doubted them....

I'm happy to hear that! You can now wait a little and be enjoying this incredible grinder (grater? Idk) for a long time I hope!
They should definitely sell in Europe...

Mine is rock solid now and I'm enjoying this wonderful fluffy grind, and the kief is produced way more quicker than my space case due to the 60 screen (don't know about the SC's screen). I'll see the result in a few weeks :)

That old chestnut . That does not wash with me at all. They are too busy to check emails & send a one line acknowledgement on the issue. Now you feel bad about doubting them when that doubt was created by their communication issues. I understand delays & being busy as well as the next man but I fail to understand how they did not respond to your emails.

On the positive front you are getting a new grinder that will be a keeper for some years yet.

Volo (the company that owns/distributes) Kannastor has been amazing to deal with. I had 2 different problems with 2 different Gr8trs and they immediately replaced them both with shipping to Canada at no charge.

So to me Volo/Kannastor rocks!!

Im prepared to give them the benefit of the doubt this time, its not all that easy to get a kannastör product in the UK, not without shipping and customs adding to the price....

So I see why they were trying to get one distrubuted to me from within UK....

But now they are jus gonna ship it, I will probably have to pay customs charge, but that's OK....

An email wouldn't have taken much effort, you are right, but that could be down to 1 mistake from 1 staff member....

I can't condemn the whole company because of that, yet....

Now if I get further problems now, then I will become suspicious....

You don't have to be worried about customs, they'll ship with a 25$ value noted on the parcel, in order to avoid custom fees :)
In my country, customs are really agressive and all was ok.

In case, ask them to lower the price on the parcel, to be sure they'll did it :)

I'm sure this has been discussed before, but how do you guys handle using multiple strains without multiple grinders?

How far in advance can you grind without loss of freshness or terpenes?
