Hi mate, just recieved the mod in the mail, Very impressed so far. I am having trouble setting the 14mm screen in the reducer. They all just fall through. Is there something im doing wrong
Hey Friend, the small screen definitely should not fall through the adapter. I had another report of a reducer that was a bit out of spec... maybe yours as well.

Sending PM so I can make this right.

I have my first SSV on the way and I'm interested in getting one of these kits for efficiency's sake. Is it possible to get the Concentration Chamber along with the V1.75 kit?

Absolutely, leave me a note when you place your order on eBay.

Wow, just got mine. Shipping speed and the packaging technique both stellar. I don't quite remember but I'm positive I ordered no more than a week ago. But it even came a day earlier than Ebay predicted (I think). Only used the 18mm so far, but will probably use the 14mm and reducer within the next couple of days (hopefully I'll remember to report back about that!).

I do prefer the tubing that came with my SSV. The silicon tubing in this kit isn't quite as flexible, but I'm hoping it'll get softer with use (although I have no idea if that actually happens).

Efficiency, though...

I know for a fact that I feel more effect from 0.1g as I usually feel from 0.2g-0.3g. Note that this is compared to the standard HC/Wand as I have never used the 7thfloor GG setup. That's also in less than half the time. Only used the 18mm so far, but I'll probably try out the 14mm (and reducer) within the next few days so I can give my opinion on them.

It definitely works as it should, and @DDave is my hero now.

Wow, this is good. Definitely the best way to ride the wave.

I hope this was at least partially coherent. I was just so excited to tell everybody. I might edit later for clarity if anybody needs me to just let me know! :)

Thanks DDave!

Just used the 14mm. WOW!

In my last post I mentioned using as much as 0.3g in the standard SSV wand, and getting more mileage with 0.1g in @DDave 's 18mm setup. Well, the 14mm has gotten me just about as far as the standard HC/Wand did, but with....0.05g!!! And that's after just 2 draws! The possibility of getting my daily consumption under 0.1g (2 bowls a day) is thrilling!

One thing I noticed about the reducer (Concentration Chamber, that is) is that, once I have the two baskets inserted as instructed, the connection between the reducer and 14mm wand isn't perfect. It's only a minor inconvenience, because it seems 99% airtight, but I wouldn't trust the connection enough to let go of the wand. This is in comparison to the connection between HC & 18mm wand as well as the 18mm side of the reducer, either of which I'd cautiously trust enough to answer the phone or something. I hope this makes sense because I'm having trouble choosing my words (I don't know much about GonG or glass at all really, so I don't know how best to describe things). Of course, it might not be important to others as it is to me, because I didn't really know what to expect.

It did seem like a better connection was made with one or zero baskets, so perhaps thinner basket lips could help, but they're already pretty thin so I don't know how doable that would be.

All in all though, this kit is incredible. My only two gripes are the silicon tubing I mentioned in my last post and the reducer I mentioned in this post, and I think they might just be based on my preference and pickiness. Massive improvement for the SSV regardless. I haven't done the math, but I bet, thanks to the efficiency improvements, it'll pay itself off in well under a month. I've gone from smoking to a Flowermate, and thought "Wow", and then I got the SSV as my first desktop and thought "Double Wow", but now that I've gotten the DDave kit (which is the least expensive upgrade in this list), I'm just at a loss for words. It just makes such a huge difference in a unit that was great to begin with. Great job, @DDave , you've just improved yet another life with your mod!

I have been using DDave mod with my DBV for several days now and I have to say what DDave has done is quite in-genius really. I particularly like how the herb stays in place once you pack it in the screen as I've always had trouble with herb falling out of place with The stock wand, I can tip DDave's wand upside down and the herb still stays in place! The screens are really nice quality and the way they are designed to sit on the top of the wand makes changing screens a breeze as opposed to the lengthy frustrating experience I've become accustomed to with he stock wand. I will also have to clean my wand a lot less frequently as the fineness of the screens means a lot less particles falling through.

All in all this has transformed my DBV it's staggering the difference this mod has made, who would have thought shifting the herb what not even a inch? Closer to the heating element would make such a difference! I'm still learning to master things as I don't even have to turn my DBV past 9 o' clock anymore I've had to be careful to avoid combustion! I look forward to using this mod for years to come, thanks DDave!

Hey all, I just wanted to drop some quick musings about the reducer mod as I am ridiculously blazed...it's really awesome! I love how the double basket filter works to keep herb spillage to a minimum, and since there is no blowback onto the heating element I can vape with peace of mind, a huuuuuuge benefit!

Now one thing that I just thought of...is there any way to design the filter closest to the filament to act as a heat diffuser? I don't know if others have the same experience but I have to rotate my wand a few times to vape all the herb; this tiny inconvenience could be eliminated completely if there were a way to convert the cylindrical heat source into a broader shape. I don't think this is really possible with just modifying the screen shape...

Sup FC?

Due to feedback relating to frozen ground glass joints, have decided to include BeesWax Beads with mod kits now.

This blurb added to kit instructions and listings on www.DDaveMods.com. (BeesWax also available separately under the Accessories section).

**** Now includes 5 BeesWax Beads (at no additional cost).
BeesWax - Your No-Stick Glass Solution: Use optional. There have been some who have reported their ground glass getting stuck together. Regardless of reason, beeswax can help and Ddave loves to help! So, included in your kit at no extra charge will be 5 Free BeesWax Beads. To use them, rub gently on your “male” ground glass joints. You don't need much as a protective layer to help prevent glass-lock. (If you find it difficult to apply, slightly heat the male glass joint before applying).

Quantities:
5 x Beads included with Kits at no additional charge
10 x Beads if purchased separately from Accessories section.

I'm still enjoying my micro mod on a daily basis, and recommend it to everyone I can. Herbal usage is at an all time low, even though I'm getting medicated more than ever.

Very nice that you're including the beeswax now. I actually don't mind the adapter getting stuck anymore, though it does seem to happen less and less with use. (I never experienced glass lock, just the screen getting stuck in the adapter.) I tend to mix my basket half way though, and the little extra lip is helpful to avoid spillage.

Also I am using the brush that came with my mflb to keep the screens clean... Brushing them inside and out. I went from having to clean them every couple of days to getting several weeks of use from them.

My SSV seems off. It now is only toasting 50% of the load. Any advice on adjusting my SSV or my micro baskets to get single hit extraction?
I have to flip the wand and take second hit.
I played with the heating element a bit. And used fresh basket screen
DBV/SSV Family
May I have your attention please?
The DDave Micro-Mod for DBV/SSV is now released.

What is it?
It's a way to load .025g - .05g into your vapes for single hit extraction.

Why the .025g - .05g weight range?
Depends on the moisture content of your product and how tightly you tamp the pack.

I have my heating element as high up as it can go without touching the glass, dial at ~10:30, and I physically rotate the wand. I'll have to stir if I pack the screen mostly full, but around a half pack vapes the entire thing about as dark as I'd go. (Using the 14mm wand.)

The two things that come to mind are 1) heating element position and 2) a partial clog somewhere.

I know it's of little consolation at the moment, but this type of condition will not affect the performance of the V3 mod.

Dropping some new phrases like Hot Air Injection and Diffusion as a hint.

Drop back to stock configuration and see if that works, if it doesn’t you will have a pretty good idea that its not the mod.

I am giving the minimod another try. I find it has too much restriction to clear easily but want to make it work.
How much are you one hitters with no stirs filling the mini-screen before lightly packing? Up to the inner edge? Slightly over? Less?

A few tips.

Ensure your herb is dry. Overly moist herb creates a barrier when really moist pieces touch, add any type of tamping down in the basket and you have a clog.
Try a courser grind. Extremely fine grinds will have far less space between herb pieces, reducing channels for which the heated air will pass.
Try a mini-nug. Not packed into the basket. A nug tiny enough to stay in the basket, but not necessarily filling it completely.

V3 is going to do away with this issue as well.

well I will have to try the coarse grind again.
so no tamping of any kind will get me closer to no stir? I grind fine for everything else - do I need to do coarse and no tamp to really get no stir results?
Luckily I have the gr6tr coarse blade if need be.

If you have to tamp, make it as little as possible. The less tamp, the fewer tiny air channels get closed in between herb pieces.

I report back that not tamping makes all the difference.
Seems so counterintuitive since every other vape I have except one due better with a light tamp.

Friends,

V3 is here! Check them out at www.DDaveMods.com

Hadn't been in these parts in a while so just noticed the V3 release. Congrats! The former kits have worked so well for me. How do I know if I have the correct heater cover? The 7thHeaven site is a bit confusing and from what see there doesn't list an 18mm one. Maybe I'm wrong.
Where do I measure and what is the wrong one, if you don't mind telling me?
