fuck i think youre the record holder as far as i know...thats one record i hope to never beat. my warranty #2 is in the mail coming to me any day now but the symptoms you described are definitely ones that i had before so that makes me nervous...they noted that theyre giving me a new back end & middle end this time, fyi...mine got sent in for combusting the day i got it back from warranty #1 (sent in the next day).

Haven't been here in a few weeks. Another dead Hopper to report, body crapped out (goes to blue lights immediately after turned on & no heat).

Warranty request #14 for me. How's everyone else's working?
I don't have one yet myself, but based on my reading here I don't think anyone else is close to your #. Do you have similar experiences with other pieces of electronics?

how would you hook up the glass? It looks too narrow.

I've been thinking about getting a couple 14mm straight extension tubes of various lengths that the hopper fits snuggly into for extra cooling and better flavor. I've been surprised to not really see this as a popular idea for general dry usage. There was a vape bros glass piece in this spirit many pages back. Does anyone have any suggestions from dhgate or other?

I should have at least one hopper mid week.

I got some 510 bubblers and a J-hook for my Hopper, They seem to work great on some of my other portables, So i would imagine they will work great with the Hopper as well.

Well, never thought it would happen, but my SS hopper is here. I've had very little time with it, but my first impressions echo everyone else's so far. The form factor is nice, it heats up fast, the vapor can be hot depending on how it's hitting the inside of your mouth, the fucker gets hot after a session... Lots of pros, heat related issues are definitely noticeable cons. Glad I went SS, I don't think the Ti would have really held enough benefit for me. I didn't think the mp was uncomfortable on my lips due to heat, but the vapor was insanely hot right where it exits the mp and did elicit a strong, "what just bit me?" Sort of reaction on 3.5-4.5

I had an idea for a chamber attachment way back during the Indiegogo campaign. Once i finally got mine and measured the mouthpiece i bought some 5/8 inside diameter polycarbonate tube which fit perfectly, and i ended up with this. Works great! And it also doubles as a protective case kinda... although it gets gooey pretty quick, I've found that getting it hot and using a dry q-tip to collect all the build up works great. Then you can put the goopy cotton inside the grasshopper and vape that!

I have 4 yes, but the majority of issues have happened with the two SS. The two Ti's have been pretty solid.

Yes, I have to pay the shipping for each one. Sucks.

I am a bass player and semi-gadget nerd (although I'm starting to care a LOT less about gadgets) so I feel like I'm careful with my electronics. Plus, with so many issues among Hoppers, I'm super careful with them. I just don't think they've fully figured out the perfect construct yet. I don't feel the issues I've had were user error. At least if they were they never told me (and I asked).

just a reminder, we are on page #419 of this thread, yall...i wanna see a lot of colourful gh pics/vids on the next page hopefully...

Those driptips look cool (lousy pun intended). How do they compare to the standard GH silicone? A little cooler maybe, or just cheaper?
well the silicone sleeves i showed in the pic are free @ ecig shops (look by the flavor samples) & since they extend around the mouth hole they dont get discoloured...the extended glass path should make things cooler also.

i would just press it in with my hand but your 14mm idea sounds a lot better (like just the 14mm female piece alone, right?)!!! someone gotta make them chinese work on that piece ASAP...hopefully less than $5 shipped...

I had an idea...some 5/8 inside diameter...collect all the build up...put the goopy cotton inside the grasshopper and vape that!

sounds like another excellent idea! id opt for glass vs the other stuff but great idea (i know they prolly use that same material for mflb stems so it should be all good).

well at least it wasnt 1 device 14 times. i had to send in my #1xxx SS in twice...waiting on 2 Tis anytime now...

yes! @Z0V4 something that looks exactly like that. I would also opt for glass/pyrex @awkwardsauce even if that means keeping a dozen around. haha

This looks interesting:

The other thought was just a down stem, but they pretty much all have diffusers these days and really a straight pyrex tube of just the right ID would be so much cheaper and better, really. Thank you for the 5/8" measurement. That is an excellent lead. Looks perfect.

Hey all been using my hopper for 2 weeks now but mostly using it for that quick pick me up hit not as my main vape. I have a question though - I notice i need to be at temp 3-4 to actually get visible vapor but when does vapor start forming for everyone ? I have to take at-least a 15-20 second pull to get some visible vapor coming out of my mouth and a nice hit. There is not 1 time i have picked it up at any temp and took a pull under 10 seconds and had vapor coming out of my mouth on exhale. I also have to pull pretty hard to get it going. My girlfriend cant really use this vape with me bc she takes small draws and when i handed her the hopper it did not do anything for her , also it shut off on her. In order for her to get some vapor from it i have to pull the 1st 15 seconds and quickly hand it off and tell her to start pulling. So main question is how long and hard of a pull do you all need to get some vapor ? I am wondering if i should contact hopper labs or not bc maybe possibly something is wrong or this may just be the nature of this beast .

I can get vapor off a short pull. You should be able to also, especially at temp 5. I usually take long pulls simply because it's my preference.

It sounds like you might be packing it too tight. If packed loosely you will not need to pull hard to get vapor, there will be only a small amount of draw resistance. You will get bigger clouds with smaller loads, and the mouthpiece stays cooler in my experience.

If you are packing it loosely, literally a pinch of material, and it still is giving you issues it might be worth contacting Hopper Labs.

On a fresh pack my first two draws are around 2.5 - 2.75 and I'm drawing for at least 8-10 seconds and I can get visible vapor for sure (looks like a lot sometimes in certain lighting). Try experimenting with different pack types. I usually have relatively fluffy grind herb and load a full (but loosely) full chamber. I get at least 3-4 monster hits from it.

Thanks guys i will do some more experimenting . I dont think i packed it to tight bc there was a pretty free flowing draw resistance. I will try tonight with a very loose pack and no tamping. The last time i tried a super loose pack the vapor was so hot i kinda burnt my self a drop than i started packing it by tamping it a drop down and putting more flower on top but a very light tamp down , it helped with the heat but i dont remember getting any clouds in under 10 seconds at any temp. I'll experiment some more.

Anyone know where the "free shipping" option is when ordering from GH labs?
I want to add a battery and Caroline told me to click "free shipping" at checkout as to not get billed twice and it will link with my original pre order and ship together. Thanks

I can understand why you would rather have glass, but the polycarbonate doesn't break, doesn't off-gass and is safe for the temperatures that the grasshopper reaches. It is also really easy to work with (cutting, drilling, and heat bending) i bought 4ft of 5/8th ID polycarbonate tube on ebay and that worked perfectly, plus i have enough to make spares. I drilled a toke hole so that i don't have to separate the tube from the hopper during use, which is something that is difficult for glass... and being able to use the tube as a protective case is pretty cool. Glass is great, but I've had too many things break, which is why my current waterpipe is a JET Waterpipe, which is what gave me the idea to use polycarbonate tube in the first place.

It should just be an option at checkout.
If it's not there, shoot an email to Caroline and she can sort out your account. I think that has happened before..

try to push the dial down when turning.... do you have a gap on your backend?

Thank you. Yes there is a gap between the temp dial and the rest of the back end on my SS unit. Pushing the temp dial down does make it much easier to turn.

Oddly enough, after pushing the dial down and turning it several times I turned it on and heard the "clicking" sounds for the first time (others have mentioned this in this thread). It still worked fine - no back end heat. I unscrewed the back end, removed the battery, replaced it, and screwed the back end back on. The next time I turned the Hopper on I did not notice any clicking sounds.

I'm a little paranoid that my Hopper will fail any time, but I know I'm not alone in that feeling. I think there are still lots of unsolved mysteries surrounding failures and hot back ends.

For now, while it's working, it's the best portable vape I own :)

the clicking sound is normal... do not worry...

People who own titanium units, how hot does your back-end get?

I've owned a SS version for 2 months now and it has never been this hot. When I use my Ti for a few sessions, I feel the back-end burning up and very hot to the touch, my herb is also greener when compared to the SS at the same temp.

Any ideas?

That's not right, I have a titanium hopper and I've done temps 3 and above. With glass and mostly by itself. No heat at all on the back end and the abv is evenly browned. Sorry to hear about it, too many back end problems still happening. I hope they figure this out because I love this device. I've only had mine over two weeks.

I have just given my new hopper a few hours of trials, and in spite of thinking I would understand exactly how to use it since I've spent an entire year waiting for it, I'm having very similar experiences as @Justpassedu has expressed very well, so I'll reference it below rather than position it as a "reply".

First of all, I've used Pax since it came out, so I had expectations that I'm really not sure are being met.

OK, so, the backend doesn't get hot at all, the battery seems to live for a good number of long pulls (though the Nitecore says it's still sitting at 62% when the hopper flashes red), and there is "only" one other odd behavior: Twice so far, while using the bubbler and the silicone tip, the hopper just decided to shut off while I was drawing. Poof, just like that. Re-clicking didn't turn it on, but the next click did. This does not seem like "auto shut off", but it was nearly 15 seconds I was drawing.... and I'm drawing for 15 seconds because...

...the vapor is just not that thick. It's nothing like I've seen.

I don't pack it tight; in fact, it's a pinch or two. And it's dry.

I've used it above setting 3.5, 3.75, 4, and 4.25 (roughly, obviously!). I haven't tried 5 yet (mainly because I feel I shouldn't have to, since I've seen and watched others (videos) of spewing vicious clouds without using "5". So there!)

So I really don't even know what to ask! I kind of refuse to think that I have to fry this at the highest setting to be satisfied with the vapor. I think it's medicating, but it's no more impressive than my Pax.

I guess I'll just keep trying different approaches, but, I'm not over the moon about my hopper yet.

Thanks for reading
