Hi,
just jumpin' in to give a strong suggestion for those with pain issues.

I find Blue Dream to be my best ever strain for pain. I save my meager supply for when " I really could use some big pain relief", like today. Got whacked in the head at the gym/Y today and my cheek/eye area has a nice black and blue lump a-formin.

Blue Dream to the rescue as it and my chronic pain are both 95% better.

do you have a "go-to"strain for pain?? curious what others like.

Usually I reach for the OG crosses or kush strains for pain for the most part. But THC is analgesic so I am sure any strain heavy in THC helps with pain. Cannabis really shines for me when used for bone or nerve pain. Cannabis helps with arthritis a lot too. I would rather use that than something that kills my liver, kidneys, and maybe even my heart due to some NSAIDS or lose my spirit due to use of narcotics.

Next time I get some blue dream I will set some aside for pain. It hasn't come around for a good year now though.

I stick with pure Indicas for my pain. Seems higher CBD ratios do a better job for me. Right now I have Harlequin, Jeager, and Af-Pak which is a custom strain developed by a Rembrandt who actually went to Afghanistan and Pakistan and brought home seeds which he used to make a really pure Indica. Sativas increase energy for me which is the opposite of what I need.

Mazar, Mother of Berries, Canna-Tsu and Pennywise are the ones that come to mind that I've had in the last couple of months. Been using concentrates lately and it's helpful, especially the higher CBD strains.

for some reason, the original Trainwreck, straight out of Humboldt, really worked well.
sadly I haven't had any GOOD Trainwreck in some time :(
I use Cannatonic a lot, and hit the breakthrough pain with vaping all flavors,
but I favor good purples (Grape Ape, Purple Urkel), and some interesting concentrates.

That;

and that!
Yeah, me too. I like Blue Dream but don't see it as primarily a pain med for me. Of course, Blue Dream seems to be everywhere these days so there is not telling the phenotypes I am getting. All that is called Blue Dream does not appear to be the exact same to me.

I have some indica hybrid Mr. Nice Guy OG. I find this good for pain yet its not a knock out strain (well, not compared to some others). I also have some Fire OG which is more to my liking for bed time.

Cheers

I use hard core Indicas for pain such as GrapeApe, Hindu Kush or Grand Daddy Purple. The Platinum Girl Scout Cookie is a good one during the day - it's a hybrid, a combination of Durban Poison, OG Kush and a third unknown strain. I like Blue Dream for during the day too.

I have a strain called Island Kush that is a good one for night time pain but I can't find out much about it. It acts like an Indica and is good for pain and sleep.

Just a suggestion for people posting in this thread, can you add to your favorite strains your type of pain? I know different strains work better for neuropathic or muscular or whatever, and the cannabinoids needed are not necessarily the same.

For me (dull muscular and sharp neuropathic), lemon haze was a godsend. I like blue cheese too. But I don't have access to many strains, living in an illegal place. Never tried CBD-heavy strains and I'm dreaming of it :)

I just had a half an oh zee, and I am missing it! Blue Dream has mixed that haze in that special medical, non party only, way. I get the same with real Jack Herer.

I will make a short list of favs and whys here soon, I have nerve damage from 7 back surgeries, hardware and fusions, neuropathy in both left arm and leg. No opiates for me, so cannabis is my answer. No no no no noooo opiates. Even made it through chemo for pancreatic cancer with naught but cannabis!

Peace!

I injured my shoulder moving hay bales a while back. Constant pain. Couldn't hardly move without paralyzing nauseating pain. I thought that it might take weeks to heal at best. I was worried that I had done some real damage.

I tried vaping some Pink Kush. Within minutes the pain was dulled down and I was off to sleep. In the morning I was sore but OK. That evening, I went with the Pink Kush again. Fantastic! The pain just melted away completely in minutes. Next day I was right as rain.

When I find a strain that does this for me, I save it for those times in need.

I have always focussed on the Sativa, Hybrid, Indica categories to make a selection, but recently I am wanting to focus on the strains with high CBD content regardless of the category the strain is in necessarily.

Here, high CBD strains are not common, but I found some Hawaiian Dream and ordered a 1/2. CBD 2:1. I am looking forward to reaping some benefits from it for glaucoma and nerve pain.

Does anyone have experience with this?

CBD heavy strains.... or mixing CBD only strains with higher THC strains 75/25 50/50. I've tried a bunch of the "drizzle strains" and others like Cherry Drops and Honeydew.

I also have some Rutherford B. Haze 19%+ THC & 17%+ CBD on hand for post cancer surgery pain/recovery. Not looking forward to surgery but I am looking forward to Rutherford.

Been working on my list, but...

Headband

Heard of it but hadn't tried it, yuppers that'll beat pain's arse pretty darn well!

And so will definitely be on my final list. It's OG Kush x Sour Diesel, but the absolute "nerve pain wash" is pretty impressive, and has that old-fashioned skunk creep that keeps on giving a solid sense of contentment. It's the type that I either need to keep smoking or I'll go to dreamland (which I avidly like, r2 was like that).

Hoping to find it in concentrate form, like at least some shatter so I can get longer nightly sleep (vaping flowers instead for the last few days, and yeah went down from 5 to 4 hours until waking up, which with chronic pain of course also means getting up...sigh).

Peace everyone!

In my previous post I mentioned mixing strains together. So, this early this morning I ground up a 60/40 CBD/THC mix of Berry Drizzle (9.5+ CBD) & Trainwreck. I think this will make for a decent envigorating/pain beating morning and daytime vape.

For ease of use I put the mixture into 10 capsules which I'll use in my Mighty.

Neuropathy in left hip and leg from a crushed lumbar nerve root and nerve pain from stenosis and other crud in my lower cervical area. I didn't treat myself that gently but man oh man did I have some fun along the way.

My big issue, aside from the pain, is sleeping. Its very difficult for me to sleep due to back pain so heavy indica's are my favorites right now. I had some lemon haze shatter from CO once, great fun strain but way too up and energetic for a sleepy time aid for me.

Cheers

I've had the same experience with any "straight" haze. Actually I can get so energized that I will drag my poor body over the coals and can't stop myself!

But once it's mixed in with more level-headed friends...

Jack Herer and Blue Dream are the best examples imo, and both are nice in that sleep usually comes for me by just "turning off the Arizer"... Also several companies have something very close to Blue Dream - you just have to look at the genetics. Like one of my absolute favorites I call (in my head) a "kush haze", called Azura Haze which is Blueberry x Lemon Haze (just their breeder versions of both). I like it because the Blueberry genetics never let the haze overpower in effects, terps, etc.

Sorry so long a post just to say "I agree", I was just thinking about it as I was making my list, trying to organize it into strain type as well. Haze is constantly in the genetics *somewhere* in the stuff I love, just usually not overly dominant (like, I got some actual r2 from Canada that was awesome on pain, and also had me convinced my wife was sneaking around. FYI, I'm fifty-ish and my jealousy meter runs at a constant zero...)

And so... lemon haze in SHATTER form you say?!

Holey frack I can't imagine... :tinfoil: they can't get me through the foil...!

Peace!

I've had a strain called Blue Russian. It's part Blue Dream and AK-47. It's nice pain medicine.

The White Russian that I have right now is part AK-47 and White Widow. It works good for pain too.

For me all the indica-leaning strains have that classical general analgesic activity. The down side is, well, the down side, all the way to couch lock and deep sedation.

I have radiculopathy w/ sciatica, i.e. Lumbar spaces L3-L4-L5 are squashing the nerve roots, which comes across as burning pain in the thigh mostly, but also the lower back, buttox, knee etc, as spurs develop on the vertebrae and press more nerves.

Imagine my surprise to find that the original style Sour Diesels target that specific area for me, bringing significant relief, quite separate from the general THC and Sativa stimulant effect. And not like an Indica "body thing". Very specific, and easily blocked/reversed by adding other strains. No idea if it works for others.

Yup yup yup, and I have some Sour Diesel coming.

It's a Skunk#1 pheno rather than a cross like most, and wow I love it.

Ha, and so speaking of skunk children (I just realized - Shiva Skunk mother on this one) that hammer out pain, I would like to add:

Cinderella99

Currently hitting some C99 shatter! Lemon and mangoes kissed by the sun swallowed some smiling cannabis, wowza!

Peace and healing everyone!
