Nice new thread @randomtoker

My dual setup. Blue bottle is like @Accept a zero nic juice with 90/10 vg/pg (mine is flavored). Its a 24g ss316L build at twisted messes rda with .2 ohms and 60 Watt.

Interesting. I've had inconsistent results also. What was the contents/recipe?

Top picture is a really nice photo by the way. :)

I do it the same way I described. The clear one is a older batch.

But now, after one week, it's clear. I think time is another variable point. The bottle was 1 week untouched with 27℃ in darkness and is clear.

I agree, steeping time changes the solution a lot. I see mine clarify or separate over time if they are milky.

Anyone try these Joyetech eGo AIO's yet? Leakproof looks interesting, though they come with 0.6 ohm atomizers, would need to thicken the e-liquid up with some VG perhaps? Holds 2ml, 1500 mah battery.

Looks interesting. I used Kanger's pen style sub-ohm for a while which was similar size and specs. Obviously different, non-integrated tank design though. The specific design of that tank and the leakproof claim looks very interesting. I'm curious how it all comes together. I was looking at the Cubis Pro Atomizer the other day because it came free with a mod I was interested in. It has a similar looking dish design which seems smart. Overall, regardless of tank tech, what I found with using that size/spec device is I eventually wanted something larger and more flexible. A 3k mah removable battery feels mandatory for me now for sub ohm devices. Puffs stronger, lasts longer, and you can charge/switch a pair.

Id recommend against getting a cubis, I got it because it is so leak resistant, but it tends to spit.
Which tank was it? The Cubis Pro Atomizer I linked above? I've been using the Aspire Cleito. I love that it has 3 huge wick slots that go all the way to the bottom of the tank and a huge vertical chimney coil. But it tends to spit a lot also. It's weird, it really depends on the mix I'm using and I haven't found a pattern, just spits a lot sometimes. I use a bendable mouth attachment at home when it does, but that's no good out in public.

I have the non-pro version of the cubis. I actually got the cleito in the mail today. Havent used it yet. Looks like it has the spitting problem also. I may try to get that Cubis pro once I find if it fixes the spitting issue.

Searched for cannabis e-juice. This thread came up second.

For anyone not into coil-building, there are dual-chamber tank alternatives that might give good results with max VG in one chamber and PEG/PG juice in the other. Have Revolver but need new prep to test. (Quickly inhaled the last one with Filhote's dual-coil method on Tsunami deck.)

With both chambers firing, Revolver gives 1.2 Ohms, but airflow is tight. (Really like lung hits from Tsunami.) Don't expect Revolver to leak, though. It's huge - 3.5 mls in each chamber for 7 mls total. Dwarfs SX Mini.

Revolver is no longer made, BTW. Totally Wicked sold it a few years back and still sells replacement coils. You can find some stock around. Found a few others, but this looks pretty nice. Stay tuned for review.

I've got a new powerful setup:
7M6DTRM.jpg

It's Dual ss316l Clapton with .14 Ohm. A AV mechanical Mod with the wismec inde duo dripper.
Liquid is a mixture of 90/10 vg pg diy juice like ethos crispy Clone and a weed concentrate juice with 98/2 pg peg.

How do you like the Claptons? Tried parallel Claptons/vertebraid. Didn't notice a clear improvement. Seemed like more trouble than it's worth.

Sadly, cannot report immediate success with dual-chamber tank. Did QWET on mystery trim. Oil is very dark but tastes better than expected, so tried e-juice. This time needed 1 ml PEG 400 to dissolve 1 g - not just a few drops. Added another 4 mls PG. Loaded tank with max VG in second chamber. At 20 W, seemed okay but weak, so went up to 30 W. Dry hit. :puke: Emptied tank and loaded into Tsunami RDA with dual SS 316L coils at 0.12 Ohms as with previous prep.

Learned that the volume of PEG 400 needed depends on starting material. Mystery trim is not the same as freeze-dried, veganic flowers. Also find vaping e-juice produces more intense flavor (whether good or bad) than low-temp dabbing oil.

Need to use tank with regular nic juice to get the hang of it - was too eager to try. Also plan warm EtoH extraction of mystery trim followed by winterizing, activated charcoal, and filtering. Hope to remove chlorophyll and flavor.

Not finding it any easier getting used to the harshness of these PG/PEG400 blends. Has anyone had success with stable Max VG (or close to) blends?

Micro or nano?

2-post sleeper build: 26 AWG SS 316L, 1.5 mm coils, 0.154 Ohms. 25 J gives warm, thick clouds from venerable Achilles. Mouth-to-lung, but effective and economical. Lots of chlorophyll from mystery trim. Max VG on the right.

Looks nice @Accept. It seems, the dual setup works well. I work actual with an Mutation XV4, two seperate fluid/cotton chamber. 1.5 mm is very tiny.... how long did one wattage live?

Don't know what you mean. Probably favorite build ever for mouth to lung.

Encourage everyone to read herbivore21's thoughtful post about risks of vaping. There was a time, not long ago, when cannabis use was associated with any number of risky behaviors. Glad to see that's changing. What follows has nothing to do with avoiding risk.

Goal was e-juice as alternative to edibles. We all accumulate foul material that's still active - trim, AVB, filtrate, reclaim, etc. The only thing it seems fit for is edibles with strong flavor masking its vileness. What if that vileness could be reduced enough to mask with delicious, max VG e-juice on second coil?

Read this old post. Activated charcoal dramatically removed chlorophyll from long ISO extraction. OP complained resulting oil had little flavor. Seemed perfect.

Extracted 15 g mystery trim with EtOH for 8 hours at 130F in MB2e. Winterized, filtered out impressive cake of precipitate. Left with this.

IveoWSr.jpg

Stirred with 4 tablespoons activated charcoal, filtered and voila.

skbjiet.jpg

Evaporation gave off unusual odor while reducing to reddish oil similar in appearance to that observed in above post. Dabbed, got puffy, black residue on nail and little else. Undeterred, dissolved in 1 ml PEG 400 + 4mls PG. Vaped on above setup with AVG on second coil.

Result can only be described as nauseating. Vaped QWET of same mystery trim with decent results. How toxic can this be? Not about to find out.

Still, impressed with activated charcoal. May produce good results with better starting material.

Hello everyone! Ex-lurker here, who has signed up to be part of this ongoing project, as it seems to be headed in a direction I would like to achieve...the e-spliff. Not after a one-hitter quitter, but something that is tasty, active, and can be enjoyed for 6-12 hits to get me in a good place. I actually originally experimented with this back in 2010, when ecigs were just becoming available and accepted to the masses, with poor results. So far, this thread would indicate that sub-ohm, TC style vaping, combined with some commercially available products can yield great results. I have a suggestion, and a couple of questions....

@randomtoker, it seems like emulsification might be a partial solution to getting higher %s of VG into mixes. I too would like to get up to 50% VG, as it is a superior Vape. Have you considered Triethyl Citrate? This is a common ingredient in several e-liquid-recipes flavours, that appears to act as a pseudo-emulsifyer. Have a look at this thread here: https://www.reddit.com/r/DIY_eJuice...rate_the_new_eliquid/?st=ir8dwj4o&sh=5cac2a18

My experience with using flavourings that contain Triethyl Citrate ( purely in making Nic juice BTW) is that it does help blend different flavours on different bases (PG, VG, Alcohol etc) better and quicker. It also adds a thick, moist and juicy quality to juices, which may help counter perceived harshned from PG/PEG.

Current research would seem to indicate that Triethyl Citrate is fairly innert, low risk, and safe to Vape/inhale. It is present in quantities on 1-10% in several flavourings made by The Perfumers Apprentice/The Flavour Apprentice (TPA in vaping lingo) and 10%+ in one specific Flavour - TPA strawberry. Given that these flavours are usually mixed betwen 10-20% in Nic juices, this would indicate that 2-3% pure Triethyl Citrate would be suitable to help with emulsification in THC juices. Pure Triethyl Citrate is available from TPA... Or so I believe.

Note: I have no quantifiable experience using this for THC/PEG/VG emulsion. This is just theory and anecdotal evidence. However, it seems a logical path to pursue, and I would, if I had the money, or access to concentrate.

Which leads onto my first question....

Concentrate is just not available where I live (Europe). I have access to fairly good flower, and occasionally Hash. Also bubble bags. I am fairly confident with a QWISO tek as well, so theoretically QWISO concentrate is possible. HOWEVER, In would be interested to hear peoples opinions on how much QWISO preserves the strain specific qualities on flower. I love Sativa's, and don't want to QWISO a good haze strain, and loose all of its beautiful headiness. I understand @randomtoker has had good results with adding terpenes back into liquid, and getting effects, but this seems a touch remedial. Does QWISO strip the individuality of flower? Could good quality full melt bubble be combined with PEG to make a THC base? How about ROSIN? (Am ploughing through the ROSIN thread ATM).

Question 2: has anyone considered adding extracts of other ethnobotanicals to THC eliquid to encourage synergistic effects. I am thinking of the common ones associated with weed....Kanna, Blue lotus and chamomile, although I think St Johns Wort, Passionflower and Rhodiola Rosea also bear some scrutiny. I know some people will dislike the concept of "adulterating" good weed, but as a European joint smoker, I have often enjoyed the synergistic effects of putting some Kanna or blue lotus flower in a large joint.

I have had results with a long-soak PG extraction of Chamomile, which produced a Vape with a strong Flavour (not necessarily unpleasant, but nothing I would describe as nice) and noticeable sedative qualities.

This is just me spitballing ideas here, but when I originally tried THC eliquid 5+ years ago, my aim was to try to recreate the specific effects of certain hashes I have smoked over the years...e.g. Adding ethnobotanicals to produce a strongly sedative effects (like Charas/Indian Cream) or mildly opiate-like effects (like Nepali Black) using Blue Lotus. I understand that some of these effects may be achievable using Terpenes....I am interested to see where that line of experiment goes.

Sorry for the long first post!!

Totally agree, starting material changes everything! I've been considering winterizing everything I get just to try to normalize my process with different concentrates. I like the idea of activated charcoal. I haven't tried anything like that because the concentrates I get, while low grade for price, aren't too bad. But I do think getting it as pure and fat free as possible is key to a good mix (especially if there's any VG being used).

Not finding it any easier getting used to the harshness of these PG/PEG400 blends. Has anyone had success with stable Max VG (or close to) blends?

I have not got a perfect recipe yet. I switched to just peg/pg for a while but found it strangely harsh after a couple tanks and I felt like my mouth, throat, and lungs were coated with... solvent for lack of better description (I used to oil paint a lot when I was younger and being around oil paint and turpentine gave me that same feeling). So I stopped for a while and just made tinctures from concentrate (which I LOVE). Recently I made a batch with 30% vg, 30% peg, and 40% pg. It held a pretty decent mix, but I still got the weird coating feeling so I'm back to tincture. It seems like the more vg you put the more peg you need to counter it and you get diminishing returns on the benefits of vg. The dual tank approach that @Filhote and @Accept are trying seems like the only foolproof method of getting high % vg into each hit. I'll keep trying though.

Hello everyone! Ex-lurker here, who has signed up to be part of this ongoing project...

Welcome! Amazing post! Thanks for the tip on Triethyl Citrate. Very interesting. I think I'll try it out. I had tried a touch of alcohol to try to adjust the polarity and get it to mix but it didn't work out for me and tasted terrible.

Regarding sourcing concentrate. I have done some QWISO and QWET experiments in the past and found them quite flavorful, so you may be pleased with the results. Several people here do their own extractions so they'll probably comment with better info (@Filhote @Accept , I think others as well). Regardless though, you will never have the full flavor of flowers with concentrate (IMO), unless you're talking about live resin or rosin. Which leads to rosin.... If you have easy access to bubble, then you should just press rosin. Alternately, if you have affordable access to volume of nice flowers, you should also try pressing rosin. Pressing rosin out of bubble is easy and doesn't require high pressure (so you don't need any more gear than a hair straightener really). Pressing rosin out of flowers is also easy if they're dank, sticky, and high thc. I manage fine with my hair straightener modded onto a grip clamp (a few people, including me, posted pics of those kinds of setups in the rosin thread, it's a great cheap and easy approach instead of large expensive presses). For me, I can buy cheaper concentrate than the quality and volume of flowers I'd need to make concentrate so it's not economical to press rosin. If I was growing, then for sure that's what I'd do.

I am also an ethnobotanical enthusiast, but I have not started extracting into juice as you mentioned. I love the idea, nice one. I think it would be cool to presoak your pg with various entheogens then use it in your mix. I have gotten great synergy in the past (just smoking and dry vaping) using canna, blue lotus, wild dagga, and indian warrior.

Regarding terpene add-back, I'm undecided where I stand on this at the moment. You can definitely get your flavor back doing this, and I have felt the effects when I used ratios that match signature sativa or indica profiles (ie: peppy daytime ratios, and sleepy nighttime ratios). However, I also noticed a pronounced harshness. I always kept my percentages equal or less than average total terpenes in cannabis strains, but it makes sense when you think about it. That throat spasm / twang that flowers cause whether when smoking or vaping is due to the terpenes. Hash and concentrates have their own harshness for their own reasons, but that classic twang of pot flowers isn't as strong. Adding back terpenes to juice brought back that twang which isn't necessarily pleasurable. Also, the strange mouth / throat / lung "coating" feeling I was getting with high percentage PG mixes felt even more pronounced with terpenes. In my last 2 tanks, I have not added any terpenes. I don't think they're necessarily dangerous if you're keeping it in the range of flowers, but at the end of the day terpenes are caustic solvents so....

Also, you asked if anyone has made juice with bubble instead of concentrate. I have done this with bubble and black hash (both Moroccan style and Indian/Nepalese "charras" style hash). I believe @Filhote has made juice from hash also, so maybe he can comment. For me, I found it worked well enough, but definitely caked up my wick because the juice had sediments in it. I haven't tried filtering or anything like that though. I found the flavor sort of boring, not quite unpleasant, but not really desirable. IMO, if you have hash, just press the rosin out of it and mix that with juice. That filters it for you so you start as clean as possible.

Yeah I try some ethnobotanicals with my concentrate Liquid. I try Kanna, Blue Lotus, Wild dagga, Clip Dagga and kra thum na. All ethnobotanical liquids have 4% active substances in VG. So my described dual setup is perfect for this (one coil with concentrate-PEG-PG-Liquid, the other one with ethnobotanical-VG-Liquid).

The taste is...special...the effect (in comination with THC) is realy awsome. Kanna supports the effect of THC, sedate a little bit AND push. A nice comination of push and sedate at one time...
