Is this a good time to buy a new vape?

Hey FC people!

I own a Mighty and I am really satisfied with this unit with one exception: its portability. This unit is just way to big for use at public spots - especially if you live in Germany where cannabis is still under repression. This is also the reason why I need a unit which works with herbs. concentrates/oils are just too hard to obtain. Also a bowl comparable to the one of the Mighty would be necessary - I just love big sessions. So the first vape that came to my mind is the grasshopper. Theres a german shop which sells it for 300€ (Titanium). But reports of the mouthpiece getting hot while use made me refrain from buying it. For that price I wouldn't be willing to deal with that.
So my first question is if the mouthpiece of the titanium grasshopper really gets that hot?
But since the grasshopper has been around for a while and companies like S&B didn't release any new models lately I think this might not be a good time to buy a new vape because new, better models might be on the market soon. What is your opinion on that?

I used to do drugs. I still do, but I used to, too
If you love the Mighty, why not pair it with a Crafty?

You can use dosing capsules with both and they make portable use very stealthy, especially in the Crafty.

Firewood v4 is coming soon and should be really good. FW3 was my favorite vape until my GH came in this week...now it might be a tie.

If you like big sessions, the hopper might not be the best, because it is reported to get hot pretty quickly. The people who hit the GH and set it down do seem to enjoy a cooler vape experience. It's really hard to pin down, because "too hot" is kind of a subjective thing. They do have the mouthpiece condom to keep the hot mouthpiece at bay.

+1, for me the hopper is not a session vape, i tried the CF from Boundless it's a good average vape but for me the better stealth portable session vape is the Crafty !!!

Bit of a learning curve with the RBT Milaana to best harness it's power but it delivers (and if an old fart like me can figure it out...) Planet Vape in Canada I think is doing international sales. I haven't used ejuice with mine but some users like no nicotine juice for the clouds and protection from combusting and odor masking. Gotta try that soon...
Here's the link in Canadisn dollars, around $190 American:

Hopper is fine it has a silicone mouthpiece so it wont burn lips. The vapour path is short so it is quite hot and dry vapour. However it is very stealth but for sure more of a one hitter than a mighty.

Do you have access to trad hash? You could try making rosin from it and then using an oil pen. About as stealth as you can get but a bit of a ballache.

If you're using your vaporizer in public I think most people would agree that the Lotus with a water tool is much more discreet than the Mighty.
If someone sees you using the Lotus they'll just think you're smoking a bong & call the police, but no one is gonna know what the fuck is going on if they see you sucking on a Mighty. They'll be like...that's some seriously fucking weird shit going on right there.

In absolutely no way id the lotus more discreet than the mighty..lol..the lotus requires lighting the hot plate with a torch for god sakes??it looks like a serious drug device..the mighty looks like a cell phone..now if smoking bongs in public is completely accepted and maybe ecigs arent then in that case you are right but not in my country..

Not really? I typically load .35-.4g or so into the oven, it's not a gigantic motherlode bowl but that's almost certainly multiple sessions for a single user or an adequate session for 2-3 heavyweights or a room full of casual users.

Even putting aside questions of how much counts as a session, one of the most popular accessories for the Pax 2 is a device to effectively make the oven smaller, and in fact Pax just released a new oven lid that halves the oven capacity for you, so I'll go out on a limb and say that most users find the oven capacity plenty big.

Anytime is a good time to buy a new vaporizer.
What about the Arizer Air?It's the size of a large ecig. I've used it in public before. I've seen folks using their ecigs and they aren't much smaller. My sessions are about ten minutes long but you could stretch that out to 20 min.

Check out the Arizer Air thread. Nothing beats an all glass air path. Pick about four vaporizers you are interested in and read through about 4 or 5 pages of each.

Just because it's something we like that doesn't mean that you will like it. I've bought vaporizers that I've used just a few times and realized it wasn't for me. Paying $200 - $400 can be a costly transaction if you realize afterwards that you don't like it.

I was referring to the physical size of the device, and not saying the bowl is tiny. for me the pax2 bowl is just about right for a single session. Maybe my tolerance is abnormally high.

Pretty sure that was a joke, and another example of why subtle humor is hit and miss on a forum.

@Hans Hurensohn concentrates are hard to come by? You gotta check out the rosin tech thread, concentrates are available to everyone with only a little more cash for the hardware (hair straightening iron, parchment paper and screens). There is also dry sift, more hardware needed but it's all cheap (wood and screens). If you have access to flowers, you have access to concentrates and that can change your ability to medicate accordingly no matter what device you have. I assume a cheap vapcap ($30) loaded with some flower and a little rosin would be fantastic.

i think if you are used to the Mighty, quite many other Battery powered Vapes will not be fully satisfying, as you basicaly seem to want / would like a smaller and more stealth Mighty... what the Crafty is.
If there are enough Occasions where you cant use a Mighty but can use a Crafty is another Question..

For me, the GH is a nice addition to the Mighty, because they are so different. The GH is a relly stealth kind of One Hitter for me, mostly if i couldn t Vape at all otherwise.

Try to find a Headshop with Mighty and Crafty and have a look in reality, perhaps this helps with the Decision.

One other Point: Stealth / session Vape is not the most logical Combination perhaps.

But I like it!
I dunno if I'd want a session vape for wandering the streets of a currently prohibition country.

There are a few of instant on flower vapes out there. My current fave is Milaana. A 3 second preheat, draw, put back in pocket. No lights, no beeps, no Bluetooth requirement, and user replaceable batteries.

Yes, I'm a bit of a fan :)

How small do you want a vape? Almost all the ones I'd recommend are already mentioned: boundless, Haze 3, milaana. The haze 3 especially works well flowers and concentrates and you can carry extra product in little canisters and an extra battery.
I'm not sure anyone has mentioned the dynavap- it requires butane but is simple to use and not much bigger than a regular sized pen.

Just because new products will be coming doesn't mean that the older ones- including the arizer air- aren't worth buying. New is not necessarily better.

I was quite busy the last few days, so I did not get the chance to dig through all the posts. Thanks for all your answers! I will check all the options in the next days!

Mine is mostly miss.. but seriously this is a good time to buy a new vape. So far this year I've been lucky enough to be able buy a Sub, a Grasshopper & a Lotus. They're all great to use & very different from each other, plus every time I buy a new vape it renews my interest & teaches me a little more about this weird hobby of mine.
